One trick Mark uses is leaving his boss distortion pedal on all of the time, everything off but the output and uses his guitar volume to regulate the "nastiness". Also, Mark will leave his wah pedal on much of the time. There is a great CZcams on his rig and the simplicity of his tone. Great player. Refreshing, and I'm a 40+ year guitar player.
