I would like to imagine this is how NPCs are when you're not around. That's why there's so many quests.
Im gonna think of this next time I play. They use flattery to make you feel like a hero even for lifting 6 bails into their cart.

I think it was just a Tumblr post but if it’s true, the post inadvertently explains why games like this always have you doing “menial” tasks. That _was_ the job of the guy we play as!

The wolves are a group of farmers that were jailed under false accusations so that the feudal lord could take their land and use their families work to pay for their freedom. After escaping from the prison they made a group of bandoliers and went into hiding in the middle of the forest. Now they live by stealing taxes collected from the poor and on Mondays they steal children too.
A 'pack of wolves' is a colloquial term for Child Protective Services
It's scientifically proven, wolves get lonely and kidnap children to play with them...

The garlic farmer always has the most realistic facial expressions, like you would not even think he's acting lol.

I remember when I was like 10 playing Skyrim for the first time I had to ask my dad what I should do because I didn't want to leave the villagers in morthal waiting with the imminent threat of vampires. That was the first time I learned that quests wait for you and not the other way around
If I'm elected president, every quest will be a timed quest. And the timer starts before you even take the quest. You get to the village late? There's no NPC with a quest. Just a dad at a funeral.

Best part is this poor beggar in lvl 50 zone can only give you 3000 crowns while the entire fortune of richest man in the lvl 10 town is about 30 .

You know, I feel dumb for not wondering why npc's just stand around waiting for me when they can just do it themselves
Need to do about the escort missions, where if you die, the npc just goes to its cell/jail/captor...
And they never, ever match your pace 😂
They walk a little faster than you, but they're not running. It's like an annoying jog.

@@MaverickMyth faster? They move at slime pace, walking with a path with most monsters spawned and are not concerned about you having to fight them, until they get too far from you (still fighting/recovering from the fight) and automatically abandon the quest, so you have to do it again.
Just once, I'd love an escort quest that allows you to smuggle them to the target, or allows you to sneak around avoiding the inevitable bandits.
I mean, a task to escort a princess to her intended that involved wrapping her up in a rug is absolutely thematic.
Nope, the walk terribly slowly when uou escort them. They run quickly back to their cell.

A lot of RPG behaviors would be insane if they happened in the real world.
starting with the bloodshed. I mean... even in a relatively 'normal' not especially bloody rpg, you kill more people (and creatures) than all US serial killers combined.
I mean you likely kill more humanoids in Skyrim or Mass Effect, than any other person in history. Save for that one Soviet executioner guy, or the crew of the Enola Gay perhaps.
And the fact, that you are still completely normal functioning, makes you a complete messed up psycho...
Normal everyday conversation with a RPG protagonist.
Me: Hey how was your day.
Protag: OH you know, exploring taking up quest, finding treasure. that sort of thing.
Me: Cool, what kind of quest?
Protag: Well recently I had to slay 500 wolves.
Me:Woah that is a lot of wolves. Was it just a huge pack terrorizing a village or something.
Protag: No just needed them for their pelts.
Me: Dude! 1 or 2 wolves would have been enough.
Protag: Not for me. The rich tailor needed wolf plets for a new set of armor and also was scared of wolves.
Me: 500 wolves for one set of armor?!
Protag: Ya but it is worse than what I have now so I just did it for the experience.

@@robertnett9793 You have to have a good reason to eliminate the first few; think of it as training wheels. After a couple, it gets easier. 5 or so in, getting paid well just makes sense for all of the work.

I've been watching this for so long and just noticed he has a satchel of garlic in his belt lined up like grenades
They are grenades! They're his potent garlic grenades. It was in another skit where he kept using them and accidentally killed his own sheep causing the player to fail the sheep rescue quest.

I'm waiting for Greg to go full self-awareness & take over the world outside of the game.
Now I wish there was a game with a character that loses one thing several times in the worst locations of the game and he's really just chill about it but the adventurer insisted to much on it.
Would have been even funnier if another adventurer showed up with a clone of his daughter a few seconds after the first.

Always thought this when accepting wow quests back in the day
These were quite ordinary. I still remember the hassle of being a message courier, wandering between Westfall, Stormwind, Redridge and Darkshire, delivering messages and during the old days, without a mount, which means i h ad to reach each location on foot... It was an essential quest chain required for getting Deadmines dungeon quests.
While probably important for the lore, one would think they will just use WoW postal service instead.
All in all, WoW has the worst quest design of all times.
GW2 has far better quests - not great, but far better. There is even a "catcher" quest, if you read the text before accepting, i had such good laugh there. Kinda shame ArenaNet is piece of s**t.

As a professional adventurer, I can say that this man is 100% correct in his decision. Leave it to the professionals. If you do it yourself, you could end up making the situation worse.

This reminds me of free guy. One npc is bothered by his surroundings and actually aware, and all the others are just aware of what their purpose is.

Pokémon Legends Arceus has a quest line with a woman who has a terrible sense of direction and gets lost somewhere in each of the open world areas in sequence. Her brother sends you to find her
Eventually, he thinks she's gotten lost again and runs out to find her himself..... and then the sister shows up five seconds later. She guesses that her brother has already managed to get *himself* lost and sends you to track him down
Nino kuni has a guy who loses his diary in every major city/area. The main characters even comment on him constantly losing it.
And this is the definition of radiant quests that you can keep doing over and over 🤣
