      @FORDF100WORLD By CraigerCo def will. Been subbed forever. Have a 78 f100 302 I've essentially stripped bare and redone. Still has moronic t18 I need to replace with an AOD and still has 1 wheel peel. I have installed djm rear drop shackles with new hardware shocks and springs. Haven't touched front yet but want to do it somewhat right without dropping a grand on those beams. The 302 is strong with a complete edelbrock topend. I have a few vids of him on my page. Also it was a flareside and I put a somewhat temporary wooden bed on it as the bedsides were 99% shot. They're not repopped so I have to bite the bullet and get the rust repaired on them. Then I'll put the ass back on it. Runs like a m seeking m twink at an FLDS priesthood conference though.

    Gonna get explorer coils for my f100. Rock auto has to sets of MOOG coils. Wondering which ones I should use. One is a cc868 and the other is a cc870. The 868 is about inch shorter and is for a 4x4. What’s everyone using?

    Great video. Just installed the explorer springs on my '79 F100 and the ride height looks great. What size bump stop did you use and did you have any problems with the spring coming unseated from the upper mount? May be over thinking here but considering a limiting strap to keep everything together.

One more question for clarification. Is the 66 Perch ok or does the top one still to be swapped for a 70's model?

    • @FordF100World
      @FordF100World  Před 2 lety

      I’d use the ones with no lip. It’s easier to move the spring once seared, like when u want to cut the coil.
      I recommend installing the springs and put a few miles on them before u cut coils. So the springs can settle (don’t forget to tighten the bug bolt after settling.
      I recommend this cause I’ve notice drops have varied from not much to a lot on different builds. Lots of variables.
      Also you’ll need to get shorter bump
      Stops once you’ve cut the coil.hit me up on FordF100World on Facebook 👍🏼

    Nice video, thanks for posting. I have a ‘67 F100 I’m going to try these on. It already has dream beams, but needs to be a little bit lower for my taste. One nice thing I notice is these explorer springs are smaller diameter. The stock coils hit and rub on the dropped portion of the dream beams, so the smaller diameter spring will give more clearance. Another suggestion that I will do, is to take a torch and heat and bend upper and lower the ends of the spring to open it slightly, to match the diameter of stock spring. This will allow the new spring to sit in the upper and lower seats better. The spring sits flat so it won’t be affected from heating.

      CraigerCoClassics Your welcome. I’m probably not going to cut any coils, should be low enough. What I may have to do, is correct the camber in the dream beams. I’m already at 0 camber. I will make a pie cut in the square tube portion of the beams, set correct camber and re weld. Did you say that with an uncut spring it would net a 2 inch drop? I have a 390 engine.

    • @FordF100World
      @FordF100World  Před 4 lety +1

      HV Speed the inch’s dropped I’ve come to find out varies but 2 inchs is the most common drop, mine with stock beams and a 302 dropped 2 inches 👍🏼 Just remember it takes time to settle, then re tighten the bolts. If u do cut coils start with a quarter or a half coil 👍🏼

    Great vid thanks ....my 69 F250 has the lip bottom mount not the round I like the lip so the lower mount cant move .....also fun fact lol....my 69 F250 camper special has a 7/8 king pin !!! What does that mean ? Alot of 250 owners are left out on dream beams and lowered I beams but 65-69 F250 unless you had the 8,500 front end had the same king pin size as a F100 so dream beams will fit a 65-69F250 and later years with 7/8 king pins just make sure the length is the same when ordered .

      @@Danielxlopez as far as I know 65 - 72 the F250 only had the 7/8 king pin unless it was a 8,500 GVW or a crew cab . After 72 the application changed a lot 73 and up it is very common to see the bigger king pin on most F250 , there is a easy way to tell take the dust cover off the king pin the one with the grease fitting and measure the pin inside if it's around 0.84 0.85 then it's the 7/8 if it reads over 1" like 1.05 it's the bigger 1 1/16 king pin .
      Also make sure your tie rod mounts from the bottom up not the top down the tie rod relocator that come with the drop beams does not fit if your tie rod mounts top down 👇.

    Maybe I missed it, but what did you do for spring difference? Since the driver and passenger are different height in the 68? Did you notice a drop on either side or did it sit level left and right?

    • @FordF100World
      @FordF100World  Před 3 měsíci

      I researched that so a lot and couldn’t find a definitive answer that the springs factory ones have a side. At least the ones you order now I believe that may have been a factory thing to compensate somebody being in the driver side I don’t know. I had zero issue with one side being higher, but when you get the explorer springs, you can always put them side-by-side and measure them. If you happen to find one that seems taller make that one your driver side one.

    What sway bars are you running?

      Front and rear are by Addco the model numbers escape me. But last I looked they have changed/updated there designs for our trucks. Search “addco sway bar ford f100”. the front sway bar I highly recommend but the rear is someone useless unless u hail or tow with your truck. cause it is very heavy duty. I believe it was designed from the sway bars for “camper specials”.

      CraigerCoClassics for the rear sway bar one off a 87 Bronco II is a direct bolt on. i had to drill out 2 holes on my frame because i did not want to use the metric bolts.
