You also have to include medical, dental and vision costs -- co-pays, deductibles and out of pocket expenses. You then have to include entertainment, like movies. And then you have ti include shopoing exoenses for buying household items and personal items. The list is endless. That is why I chose to move to back to Indian (after retirement). Here I can afford a life of luxury in a retirement reaort, with 2 maids and a taxi-on-call.

so both of you work,so savings shoold be usd 6k pm or usd 60k pa but once you kids bigger house car ...insurance taxes etc...over ssy 15 years you save 3 to 5 crores a basic 2500 to 3000 sq ft spt in Gurugram or Mumbai is ra 6 to 8 crores

Cost of living mostly depends on the area and as per my knowledge it should roughly 10-15% less than jersey city
If you are having infant then schooling is free and also depends on parents how much they want to spend but still roughly $200-$300 you can add for extra things
