Here's a hack. Instead of putting the rock/pea gravel inside the steps, I cut four 33" lengths of 1" PVC pipe, filled each with pea gravel and capped both ends. I placed these behind the steps in the slots on each of the side panels to provide the ballast needed to keep the steps from floating up. In addition to being quicker to initially assemble, at the end of the season when you have to lift the steps out to winterize, the individual tubes can be removed separately so the step unit is lighter to lift out of the water.
What a great instructional video. I was able to follow throughout the process. Now I’m trying to figure out connecting the ladder to the deck as this is always unique in each case.😊 I have some pics if you would like to weigh in on my options. It would mean a lot. Thanks.
Thank you! Yes, ever deck is gonna be different in it's on way, but it should work. You can email me just put something in the Subject to get my attention. It's so much junk mail now-a-days.
Thank you for your video. We used a ratchet strap to square up the steps to add the left side. It helped a lot to align everything. Our handyman used sand in his for weight, so that’s what we decided on. Even so, I had to use a small spoon to fill the stairs with sand.
Dear sir I loved your video and you gave me a little chuckle I read your viewers comments how lucky to be able to put a pool in a garden the size of a football stadium and the weathers going to be 60 to 90 woooow I live in a ex authority home so the gardens not right big the weather well if we get to 16 we’re having a heat wave but jest apart I have a 12x33 I no it’s not big but I do love it .so I really do enjoy videos like these and if I ever win the lotto I can’t wait to visit the U.S luv from yorkshire xx
Thank you for your comment and any Garden is better than no garden. I had some type of Garden most of my life but l wanted a raised bed garden so I started using anything and everything to make it happen.
I figure it all has to do with keeping the shipping price as low as possible and getting more in them shipping containers . It is very sturdy after I tied the railing to the deck.
Another awesome project. I'm gonna ask you around Sept how you like that pool cleaner that I see in your video. How is it powered anyway. (how does it move around). Have an awesome wknd. Can't wait for the next project.
The Polaris65 is driven by the return water and the little pump that comes with pool will not run it. I would not go under 3/4 HP pump if you want the polaris65 and for sure not if you getting the pool skimmer also. I have a video on assembling the Polaris65.
Thank You. Please Like, Subscribe and Share my videos to help me grow this channel. Your help is greatly appreciated my friend, Hope you have a blessed day.
Thank you SIR.. Instructions for this item really suck.!@#%$. Assembled the 24 inch one watching your video. 👍💯. Going to find them pea size gravel to filler up..
... and here's a question... There's a ton of hardware, but no lock washers. Am I going to regret not going to the hardware store and getting a handful of SS lock washers, or some lock tight before assembling? Hopefully with 2 years of heavy traffic you'll have seen whether it's necessary to constantly keep tightening bolts on the ladder.
You better run that heat gun now while you have it together to make it fit better. Most people use sand inside the ladder and water will make it heavy. Looks like you pool cleaner is stuck on the steps. Nice job.
Thank you much Sir, I have other pool related videos that you may find helpful also. Please Subscribe and Share my videos on your social media to help me grow this channel..Thanks Again.
I built the same style deck, below the top rail of pool. Problem: My kids used it one day, stepped on the top rail and bent them 😢. I wish I built the deck above the rail. Any ideas how to protect the top rail? Mike
Very helpful video. I bought the Confer brand steps and have the same mounting issue due to my deck being below the pool rail similar to yours. I think your blocking idea will work for my setup as well. Many thanks. One question, in order to install the winter cover, will you have detach all of the wood blocking and remove the steps? I am debating whether or not to just remove the handrails and leave the steps in the pool.
I'll probably remove my steps but the blocks will stay in place they will not affect the cover. I also have other pool related videos that you may find helpful. Please Subscribe, Like and Share my videos on your social media to help me grow this channel. Thanks you for helping. God Bless!
Hello Mr. Danny, If you mean when measuring from the bottom of your pool to the top of your deck is 58" this ladder will work BUT it would be 14" to your first step when stepping off the deck. My steps are the 4 step I'm not sure if they make a five step are not. As per how it adjusts, the brackets towards the pool slide up and down to fit wherever needed. The brackets furthest on the deck you have to cut the length they need to be.
Just a note you definitely would not want to pour concrete or any kind of mortar mix in the steps because as it cures it expands and can produce heat, both of which would damage the steps.
All that pool should cost is no more than about $450. I love the ladder and deck. Would love better stairs for our 18 by 48 but can't do it were lucky to even have a pool up..

Did you change the inputs and outputs on the pool? I changed mine befor i bought a skimmer, and it draws way better and outputs way better throught the 2 holes. now i havent found a fitting to run skimmer the better way so i had to switch back
I didn't Shannon, I got the skimmer hooked to one of the port B holes and the reduction plug (that came with the skimmer) in the other port B hole. But this skimmer did not work with the little pump that came with the pool. It did not draw enough water. but with the GAME Sandpro75D it wooks well.
The wee wee comment had me rolling. Where do you live anyway? I'm in VA and somedays it's 60 and the next 90. Hopefully it's 60's next week when I start this pool.

Now that's a great idea, thanks for sharing that.
If you cant trust a man with a straw hat, bib overalls, and crocs. Then you cant trust nobody. Good work ole buddy. You just made my day much easier.

Glad to be of help my friend and thank you for commenting.
Thanks for the enjoyable tutorial! Saved me hours I'm sure!

Glad you enjoyed the humor. 🤣
Poor boys gotta way a doin things! Very informational!! Ilike it man, i took a picture of supplies for the deck now im pricing ,I also have an 18'
👍Thanks for watching. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. There is no blueprint for this deck I just built it to my liking.
perfect :0) ............. now all you have to do, is get in and enjoy it...
We been enjoying it with this grand boy. Thank You!
setting up pool today. Gonna copy that deck. Looks great
Thank you, Mr. Tom. If you have a question, feel free to ask.
I loved this series. Awesome job friend. Enjoy 😎👍
Thanks You much.
Great video. Have you ever removed the steps from the water? It must be heavy. Is it easy to disassemble to make it lighter and easier to lift it out?
I remove them every winter to cover my pool. Not to bad to get out.
Enjoying your videos. About to tackle putting up the same pool in the next week or so.
me too.
You can do it!
This is the only type of ladder that I had to bend the steps . A cheap way for the company in production but not for the customer . Light hold btw
I figure it all has to do with keeping the shipping price as low as possible and getting more in them shipping containers . It is very sturdy after I tied the railing to the deck.
I just love the deck!! I wish you could come to Pa and build me one!!❤

That sure would have worked.

I've had no issues with out lock washers myself.
Did you add a liner mat underneath your pool steps? Thinking about buying one but can’t decide if it’s going to cause algae issues.
I did, and I forgot to add that on the Amazon Links in the description.

You could put a railing around the deck so no one can enter the pool except on the ladder/steps.
Do you have a video about how you built your deck?
I sure do Mr. Don. here is the link. czcams.com/video/vQl978Q3nWc/video.html
I used play sand in my steps. One 40 lb bag 20 lbs in each side. It still took about 30 minutes to do both sides.
Did it get the water dirty when you first installed the steps? The rock I used got the water a little dirty at first.
This is the most POORLY designed ladder I ever bought!!! The Titanic sank easier than this piece of junk!!!
Can't say I feel the same my friend. We love these steps and they have worked very well in our pool.

Could you use sand instead of pea stone or would it be too light?
The steps have small holes to allow water in, so I would be concerned sand would come out into the pool.
How do I replace the hose fitting after cutting to length on my Polaris 65 ?
