This was probably the most realistic Kong ever. The CG in this was so good, often you forget you're watching a computer generated monster. Amazing effects, especially when you watch the 4k version.
Maybe it's because they made him like an actual giant silver back gorilla, I still prefer the 2005 version.

@Lucianogarcia i agreed. I think that the 2005 king kong looks and moves more like original silver back gorilla from the zoo. The 2017 king kong looked more like a mix from a gorilla and chimpasee that walkes and moves like a sasquash.
This is what he's supposed to look like, not just some giant silverback. He acts and looks like the original
@@A_K808 no, i dont agree with you... watch the king kong movies from 1933 till now.. they going for a gigantic wild ape. The could use a chimpasee in that time if they wanted.. but they wanted something massive and stronger. Till 2006 it was always a gorilla typ of ape. In the last movie they dont wanted a silver back. They just said they wanted a ape that was more human like in this movie.
Funny... 2005's Kong was played by Andy Serkis (Caesar) and this Kong was played by Toby Kebbell (Koba)
since the director himself likes anime,monster movies and videogames i won´t be surprised that he choose Toby over Andy, actually originally he was planning to show a giant gorilla resembling the appeareance of the 2005 kong and then showing the new kong in the beginning of the movie...but choosing the actor is... kind of a reference to it

i know that he didn´t wanted kong to look like a real gorilla, i mean the actor choise, think about it, Andy played caesar while Toby played koba, 2005 kong (Andy) 2017 kong (Toby) its a meta reference

Toby Kebbell's performance as kong is incredible i notice that kong's face looks like toby Kebbell. He was koba in planet of the apes, and now Kong. Kong looks a lot better than another movies i imagine.

@Spidey’s movie review’s and gaming Pro the new design is supposed to be more ancient and bigger, i highly doubt a silverback would hold up to today’s standards. The new kong design is definitely king.

However some scenes have pretty bad cgi and effects like the scene with the stampede
The monster fights are amazing but the background Is very off
So that's why kong is so mad at the skull crawlers because it's the same actor that has been eaten by the skull crawler

great original take on the movie.
i enjoyed the contrasting humor tone and dark tone in the film, and that was before i even noticed the game and anime references by the director.
hes a great dude and seriously unconcited about his craft, the 2h screenjunkies interview with him tells a lot.
if you watch the first comiccon reveal, the film was set to be 1910s
then the director came on and didnt want to retread, the 1930s version exists, so he put kong in the 1970s.

Fun Fact: This Kong was suppose to kill a silverback Kong(heavily resembling 2005 Peter Jackson's Kong) in the opening sequence to assure its audience that this Kong is set in a different universe.

Wow... Kong the legend just keeps getting re-rendered in such amazing ways. And with a grand conjunction arriving soon I wanted to give the scouts a way they too could render Kong in the cloud and earn their badge. This is done by creating a conjunction of Chinese radicals. The shopping list includes - radical 62, 116, 48, & 40. When assembled these armature elements form an iconic Kong face which is in fact linguistically correct and therefore translatable. This means that the (fx) Kretzschmar version of Kong could cast an interpreter to read Kongs face and alert others to the translation. The Kong armature is also indexed as U+63A7 in the Unicode database for preservation and indexing. How exciting is that to know that every scout on the planet has free access to the face of Kong and the means to render it in a variety of ways. Perhaps a scout wishes to take control of control itself and sew a Kong pattern on their uniform. Or maybe 3-D render Kong and introduce the stick figure being into the environment of Virtual Reality. The stage is set and ready to go. Same actor who killed many a human in DOTPOTA kills the air cav so awesome, especially when he smashes colonel packard before taking on adult skullcrawler. Fantastic CG , extremely difficult to do something everybody is familiar with, so convincing, Toby Kebbell should’ve got the Oscar for Koba, these movies have always stood the test of time, unlike most of the 💩that is going these days , generic , and intensely forgettable.
