  • I've seen many ways to remove the emblems and I've tried many methods. I'm good with any method that gets the job done without damaging the car or scratching the paint.
    Part Number for hood emblem: 51 14 8 132 375
    Part Number for emblem retainers: 51 14 1 807 495 (you will need 2 of these)

    Alrighty then! I had tried everything but a banding ribbon to take off that stubborn badge and just couldn't get under it. I was ready to Dremel it when I saw your method. It was a super tight fit and I had to use the thinner of two bands I had. I couldn't push the ribbon out the other side, but it was just high enough to get a plastic pry bar under it. The rest was cake. Thank you!

    Having never done this before but just thinking out the box with the goal not to damage anything - is it not possible to superglue a "handle" to the center of the emblem and once stuck, pulling it stright up away from the bonnet it off carefully with contrrol force. It seems like it must just go straight up and out. Nothing else holding the pins. Would that work?

    Easiest way I found is using an empty 1L plastic yogourt, or cottage cheese container. Cut a 1 Inch wide circular strip from the container. Then making sure the natural curve of the plastic strip faces down feed it under the emblem, same as you did with the strap. The natural curve keeps the strip down against the hood so it will easily come out at the other end. Then just grab both ends and pull it straight up.

      I’m looking for the hack as it’s been 8 years since I did a eBay chinese Bmw badge swap out and I used a cloth wrapped around a butter knife and tbh I spotted your suggestion and that’s gotta be the easiest pushing under then pulling .
      Good tip 👍

    • @joeysplats3209
      @joeysplats3209 Před 9 měsíci

      Tried it. No go. Sweat dripping off my forehead, veins popping out... nothing. The banding ribbon I pulled off a box in my garage was thin and stiff enough to get under the badge and finish it off with a plastic pry bar. But it might work on one that's not so dang tight.

      He must think that everyone accumulates these straps from mailing boxes he probably receives by the truckload at his garage, lol. I think buying the strap would be really wasteful. Of course, you want to find the "tool" he just improvised here. It is a cut piece from plastic box strapping. Buying it would mean you likely would have to get it in a large roll (Amazon has it) Perhaps get the roll then sell it in small easy mail strips for $20 each + shipping to everyone that watched the video thinking okay, I haven't ever saved those from the rare box wrapped with maybe two of those box strips I get delivered to my house from UPS or FedEx, lol! Maybe try some blue painter's tape to protect your car's paint and use something you might have like a plastic lid you can cut to use the thin lid top to slip under the emblem to lift it up. That might work too.
