- Vlog #160 - I go an a little walkabout in the heavy snow around the valley Elliðaárdalur, a wonderful little pocket of nature nestled in between a few of Reykjavík's neighborhoods. It's pretty special for the fact that a salmon river runs right through it.

Lovely video. Many thanks for showing us an area of Iceland most of us will never see.
This is the most trees I've ever seen in a video from Iceland 🤔 I wouldn't have thought it would be right in the city too!
I think Reykjavik is sometimes called the largest forest in Iceland due to the concentration of planted trees within the city boundaries :)
I will be visiting Iceland later this year. I will make sure to go for a walk in Elliðaárdalur. Thank you for showing us!
So lovely! Looks cold but with the right clothing I’m sure it is a peaceful way to enjoy nature’s tranquility. Snow is lovely but oh boy do I hate the car scraping bit! You can keep that! Probably one of the main reasons I left colder climates for sun and warmth! Thanks again for sharing your Iceland with us! More things to add to my list for my next visit! 😊
Ciao Ívar, amazing video, the pleasant music takes me far away to wander among those trees and trample on the snow. It's nice to see real winter in January.
Thank you, greeting from Italy
I seriously don't know why you've doesn't get this many sub's, likes or even views! I -love- your Videos, I love Iceland and me and my Family (Wife, Mother of 70 and me) will visit your beautiful country again in September. Seriously, I would be very happy and I would feel very grateful if we would meet such a nice person like you when we're there.
Keep on with your stuff and please, never stop making Video's. :) My wife and I are enjoying them very much.
Greetings from Germany from Ben & Lara
Lovely. Very serene peaceful.
What a gorgeous place. The first thing I thought was “I’d love to have a long run in there”, although just a walk would be also great.
Thank you for showing us different areas.
I love Reykjavik!
Looks like a beautiful area, especially with the snow! So weird that I never went there for a walk when I was living in Reykjavik for about a year. We always drove past it. Thanks for showing us around!
It is great to hear from you. Such a pretty place.
Looking forward to visiting this place on our next trip there, takk!
I think the term you were looking for is utilised (ultilized) regarding the river.
Beautiful scenery hey 😎
Takk Takk Ívar. I didn't know about this place and it's great to have a few places to add to lists for future vists. The quality of your videos is always impeccable - the combination of shots, colours, moods and music is top class.
Thank you, that is kind of you to say :)
4:22 I'm pretty sure these are works of art. There are quite a few in several spots in this forest...
wow looks beautiful!
Beautiful area. Wish I had found it when I visited. But...there is always next time, right? 😀Thanks for a lovely wintry video!
Glad you enjoyed, and there definitely are always more little gems to discover on future visits.
You look a little cold. Looking at the trees and wondering if there were ever large hardwood trees in that area, especially knowing that Iceland is doing a lot to bring back forested areas.
Nothing beats a nice walk with the elements in your face, then coming in for a nice freshly ground cup of coffee :) I believe the most common species here are pine, poplar, rowan, and birch.
Mange Tak
Lovely snow ❄️ i wish i had some . I was pleasantly surprised to see trees. Are they native? How much of Iceland has trees?
I'd be more than happy to send you a boatload. I've had enough of it! :D About 2% of the country is covered in trees or scrubbery. Reykjavik itself is quite a green city as a lot of effort has gone into planting and nurturing groves of trees within the city limits.
He cannot have all the snow. We need some, too. All of ours is melting.
is this where Burfoss is located? i passed there last summer, i aint going there now. haha
It is indeed. Búrfoss is slightly further down the valley :)
Is this area easily accessible by public transit? I'll be visiting Iceland again this year an am looking to try and explore more by taking the bus.
Absolutely. It is encircled by busy roads all of which are served by different bus routes. straeto.is/media/2022/09/str-leidanet-sept22moskjal.png
