Just below the surface of the mudflats on the Eastern Seaboard lives one of the only venomous marine worms in the world…the creepy and bizarre Bloodworm!
Welding a toothy proboscis to strike their unsuspecting prey this creature uses its copper fangs to inject a toxin that paralyzes its victims so it can slurp them up for dinner. YIKES!
It goes without saying when it comes to the venomous bloodworms we know for a FACT that they will strike under the mud, but will they bite a human?...and if so, just how bad is the bite?!

Honestly man, I find myself blown away by this. The world has so many amazing things we haven’t discovered yet. I can’t believe that we haven’t even explored half the ocean. So many critters are out there waiting to be discovered :)) I hope that people realize just how much our marine life is keeping our oceans alive. We need to realize that we are killing the ecosystems in the world. We have to stop. We have to get ahold of how much damage we’ve done. The beauty of wildlife is of which is best observed from afar. And not disturbed.

Those are what I grew up using as bait for Surf casting in New England. We bought dozens of them at the bait shop usually in a take out box packed in seaweed. I got bit by many. We would hold the head area wait for the proboscis to emerge and hook it thru the mouth part for a good grip
