Patri Satish Kumar's playing sums up everything there is to be said about perfect accompaniment. He doesn't just follow the song but embellishes every line, phrase and syllable with loving care. Not once does he overdo it or encroach into the violin's space.
The knowledgeable dignity that Patri adds to Ambi Subramaniam's brilliant rendering of this eternal composition brings to mind the playing of stalwarts like CS Murugabhoopathy, Vellore Ramabhadran and Guruvayur Dorai (in his heyday).

pakkala = by your sides, nilabadi = standing, addressed to Lakshmana and Seeta who are standing on either side of Lord Sriram. This is the entire meaning from karnatik.com: What is the secret of the service by which , standing on either side, you both delight the Lord immensely? O maother Sita, how charming you are with your face rivalling the moon's in splendour, and with teeth like choice pearls in fine array! O Lakshmana! The most ardent servant of the Lord! Do you prostrate before Him or sing His praises and glory chanting the divine name or lose yourselves in meditating on Him? Do me the favour of revealing the secret so that I may follow suit and redeem myself.

In Hindustani music there is a concept of two artistes from different gharanas performing together on stage they also call that a jugalbandhi performance however such a concept does not gel well in Carnatic music sure people like Sudha Raghunathan and M Balamuralikrishna senior have given performance together, however it I think that it is not a success with the audiences, just imagine say for instance if Saketharaman and Abhisheik Raghuram were to sing together how would it sound, in Carnatic music there is a set standard if one performance is of that standard it is a good performance .
