    Nice video. I lived in Newburgh (worked in Rockport) from '89 - '94. I knew the Green River Road shopping district fairly well, but never really spent much time in the heart of downtown, which I regret. - I assume that they finally put a drainage system on the Lloyd Expressway (That was a mess after a particularly heavy storm).

    Nice video. Now getting down to brass tax! He's a millennial, so he didn't grow up in Evansville during it's "hay days!" Downtown Evansville was booming in the 70s with many people, stores, clubs, bars, restaurants, banks etc.... in his own way he unwittingly showed how boring, empty and abandoned downtown Evansville and the city in general is. I was born and raised in Evansville and I knew it when it was "alive" now you see it for the ghost town it has become. He probably did this video on a Saturday or during the were and as you saw there were practically no people around anywhere. So if you're looking for a ghost town, "Evansville, Indiana is the place for you." And don't plan on partying too much there's only maybe two clubs or bars in the entire city!

    • @houstonharwood7197
      @houstonharwood7197 Před 2 lety +1

      That’s a slight exaggeration. There are still some great bars in Evansville, particularly a couple downtown that consistently draw a good mix of folks after work and on weekend nights.
      But, I’ll confess, I’m a millennial too. And I definitely won’t argue that downtown is anything like what it was in the 1970s. The photos I’ve seen really show how bustling it was. I think the biggest thing hurting downtown right now is the lack of grocery stores and places like Walmart, Target, Sears etc. everyone who lives in downtown has to drive north, west or east to shop. And for people who don’t live in downtown, the only reason to go to the city center is for restaurants, bars and the river front. Still, I quite like the area.
