    delete it all, get rid of the egr and the stock vgt turbo. throw a non vgt turbo on it (more options for turbos) and run a custom file on it and you wont have to worry about anything unless it throws the whole bottom end haha

    My last truck was a 2008 Pete 389 with 600 ISX, 18 speed and 3.73 rears. Loved the engine power pulling hills for 9 years before I retired and sold it to a logger, Yes, it had some expensive maintenance issues.

      @@CustomRigs I bought a 2010 387 with the 450HP CM-871 earlier this year. 972K miles so I had it overhauled and having a rebuilt 13 speed installed today. That 389 was clean. We run a handful of them down here in west Texas. Hauling frac sand in pneumatics and chassis. Everything else we have are Volvos. We run a Chinese brand tire too. They last longer than Bridgestones. Our rigs are off-highway more often than on. So price of tires makes a big difference when you have to replace them every 6 months anyways.

      Except newer trucks get worse milage? So I don't know what you're getting at. New isxs get worse mpg than an n14 from 30 years ago. Even if it did get better milage, you're still in the hole from buying a new truck. As well as replacing emissions equipment WHEN it fails. Nice try "Izabella".

      Super expensive to maintain.. but they can be good engines if properly taken care off. I’m happy to have got rid of mine after 3 years. Like the Turbo on Cummins is 9k vs 1.6k on a cat 😩

      2008 and newer trucks come with Dpf filter and 2010 and newer come with DPF and DEF. They care about emissions and keeping ports air “clean”.

    Don’t let this dude talk you out of an ISX. most drivers don’t even know what tf they are driving. ISX are the easiest to do a full EGR and DEF delete and the easiest to put after market parts PDI parts that make your ride look crazy. just don’t live in california or any of the other blue states.

    • @CustomRigs
      @CustomRigs  Před 2 lety +3

      Most of the guys do just Def deletes on these Cummins and keep the egr because when you remove egr you have high egts and that’s where the problems begin. The heads will crack and you will be in shop after shop. We already know a dozen guys who keep swapping their isx with older engines like N14, Detroit and CAT.

    How do the ports ban old trucks… they’re just getting rid of drivers.. what is this? Commiefornia? Smh. New trucks suck, they’re just comfortable and that’s all.

    • @CustomRigs
      @CustomRigs  Před 2 lety

      They block the port rfid chips on old trucks. So you can’t get through the gate. Can’t register an old truck to the port system.
