Brilliant, so glad you like it. Released in 1985. The singer Paul Weller began his music career as lead singer of punk/rock/mod revival band "The Jam" 1972-1982. After they split he co-formed this band The Style Council 1983-1989 Since then he has embarked on a highly successful solo career. He is in his 60's now and still touring, making music. I have followed his career since I was a teen. Appreciate and enjoyed your reaction. Thank you so much.

From a teen Paul Weller until now, almost 50 years later he just creates magic , always with a powerful message. From "The Jam" to "The Style Council" to his long solo career which continues at a pace. The man is amazing

Their first band Council Collective was formed to raise money for the striking miners in Britain, 1984! This was there signature song for the cause, they also had a number of other political songs ... power to the people!

Early 80s. The Style Council married a dance groove to a message like no other band. Shout to the Top, Headstart for Happiness, Speak Like a Child, so so many

Do watch the video for the single. It was made in Warsaw Poland in early 1985 four years before the Berlin Wall came down. The club it was filmed in is now a shopping centre.

This track is a class fightback track so desperately needed now. Americans may need subtitles because thd lyrics are everything in this realise your power song. Thanks for playing..

You should listen to Paul Weller's first band The Jam they did some brilliant stuff like Going Underground, Down in the Tube Station at Midnight, A Town Called Malice, it is hard to wrong with The Jam.

Great reaction there brother! Love the fire and passion and message of this song from Weller. From The Jam in 77 riight up to today in 2023.
This came off the sublime 'Our Favourite Shop' album in 85. Still sounds superb today.
Loved the real reaction. Hope you're well brother...and keep on keeping on!

Good reaction. Paul Weller is a legend here in England. Been going since the late 70’s in one guise or another. He is a musical chameleon.

I was really excited to find you reacting to this, and whoever recommended it was so right to give you this particular version. If you would like to see this song performed before a massive crowd, check out the Live Aid version. Here's another great Style Council song, with a different vibe: czcams.com/video/S646Cd5gIxY/video.html
