“Has it ever struck you that life is all memory, except for the one present moment that goes by you so quick you hardly catch it going?”― Tennessee Williams
For me they'll never be another decade like the '80's. It was exciting as I was young and life wasn't so serious. For those of us who were there we were lucky. Those who weren't born then missed a hell of a time to be alive.
The 80s were pretty great. Aside from the, y'know, ever present fear of nuclear annihilation. I always thought the decadent 80s mentality was more nihilistic than carefree. We were really just having as much fun as we could while riding the bomb down.
My Italian man and I fight the night before I am going back to Sweden. We are silent in the car on the highway to Pisa Airport, as Mario drives there. Suddenly this song is heard on the radio. "I was half way home I was half insane" is all I hear. I turn to Mario and say: Great song.. Mario turns up the volume. We smile a little. By the time we are at the airport we are lovers again. Mario holds me oh so tight outside the entrance and whispers: Come back soon... This song always reminds me of that trip, five years ago..
This was one of my favorite songs when it came out, just because it was so infectious but listening now as an adult with more knowledge on UK music history, it’s so evident how much of a Northern Soul tribute this was. Even down to Weller’s dance moves. Pure Wigan.
Not sure if people outside of the UK understand the sentiment of this song in its support of the Miners strike and the anti Thatcher government at the time. I’ve grown out of being a Socialist myself but back in the day I was supporting the picket lines at the local colliery whilst working as a Nurse in the local psychiatric asylum as it was then. Great memories, awesome tune.
It's thanks to all the shite weather they have in the UK - they've got no choice but to stay indoors most of the time learning to play their musical instruments. Mind you, New Zealand has an inordinate amount of brillo music too, & we're only 4.5 million people, at last count (though heaps of us are UK descendants too, so that supports your theory)! :-)
As a young music maker This song should be a learning curve!!!!!!! Can you hear how they do it with the vocals and everything! The tempo the skill the knowledge these guys had; So much to learn so little time!

I agree. really hates being called the MOD father. the style council and The jam were two of the best bands of the 1970s/1980s
Just listening before my Competition heats The best ever Mahalo !!!
I found them in 2023. Who's Still listening to?
Cool❤
My late brother never let me forget this masterfully upbeat song due to his joy, thanks bro' 🤗
The British Music。

This song is on the Soundtrack of the motion Picture called "Vision Quest" from 1985. That's where I first heard this song. It's a very cool song. I like it very much.
This song just shows how good the eighties was
2023 🔥 Shouting Out from Brooklyn NY USA
Shouting out from Huddersfield Yorkshire 🎉
My elder brother worked down a mine in the late.80s. The pit collapsed. Shout to the top! Bless Paul Weller...and that pianist.....And everyone that song has helped in so many ways. X
@@Paul_John_Weller well. Hello, I hope ur well. I'm good thank u. I've been glossing and singing along with down @ the tube station @ midnight. Probs yelling would b a better word 4 it.
@@Paul_John_Weller Not really. All bands have massive P. R. operatives .. hundreds of people sat on keyboards all day long answering the fans.
I'm not surprised @ all 2 see "official messages" 2 other fans with the exact words. Does the minions on this site think fans r numpties? The language used is defo not Paul Weller.
I'm still listening at 71 years old
Hai buoni gusti musicali
I hear u brother I'm 10 years your junior. It a song that keeps on and on giving.
just another reason the 80s slapped! i wore this album out!
“Has it ever struck you that life is all memory, except for the one present moment that goes by you so quick you hardly catch it going?”― Tennessee Williams
My youth right there ..... and still love it today😍👍 ❤️
Hello, how are you doing? It is nice seeing you here.
I always loved Dee Cee, still do, gorgeous
A Classic in my opinion
If you ever need a positive energy track before leaving your home in the morning this is the song to go out to the world with.
Dec 4, 2023 and still digging it.
One of my best songs even in 2020
For me they'll never be another decade like the '80's.
It was exciting as I was young and life wasn't so serious.
For those of us who were there we were lucky.
Those who weren't born then missed a hell of a time to be alive.
TOTP, Saturday morning TV, half pence sweets, great times.
The 80s were pretty great. Aside from the, y'know, ever present fear of nuclear annihilation. I always thought the decadent 80s mentality was more nihilistic than carefree. We were really just having as much fun as we could while riding the bomb down.
Dead right, the time to be a live was the 60s/70s/80s. We've gone hi-tech now but it seems to have killed the soul.
I miss very much my '80s.. and this music at all.I love It more now than in '80s! Good voices never die!
2023 toujours aussi bon
This magnificent song should have a lot more views.
Damn he's really getting into that piano
Kathleen Leydig Nevermind what all others are posting. I’m happy he’s into his groove..
i would be too if i wrote this absolute monster of a tune
Indeed I find it very sexy
He's awesome :)
Tatts Kink I love watching him!
This song always reminds me of that trip, five years ago..
and did you came back ?
Souvent une chanson marque un amour

Mick Talbot is one of my favorite keyboardists, and The Style Council's one of my favorite groups.
It’s 3am last night , Im walking into a casino , this is the song that starts playing as soon as I walk in . Love it !
The Style Council great Band in the 80j great Song
I love it how Mick seems like he is agonizing while playing.
Paul weller awesome in everything he has ever done ✔️
Look where it got you lol socialism always fails. Thatcher was one of the best leaders ever created
@watcher12222 Clearly satire.
It's funny because the left would close the mines and thacter would be seen as a strong women 😂
@@blingblinginyaface poor you
Are you a Tori now?
It's just mental the English produce the best music ever
josh jackson Your not wrong there Pal! 👍
yep mostly
Not English but the Britains produce the best Music ;)

It's thanks to all the shite weather they have in the UK - they've got no choice but to stay indoors most of the time learning to play their musical instruments. Mind you, New Zealand has an inordinate amount of brillo music too, & we're only 4.5 million people, at last count (though heaps of us are UK descendants too, so that supports your theory)! :-)
As a young music maker
This song should be a learning curve!!!!!!!
Can you hear how they do it with the vocals and everything!
The tempo the skill the knowledge these guys had;
So much to learn so little time!
A timeless song, whose energy captures the human spirit; it is a gutsy soul singing and we can all relate to that courageous energetic spark.
This is one of the best songs ever
Such a great song about being down and uncertain. So true, during Pandemic, economic crisis, and racial tension here in the U.S. This songs brings me to tears with a smile on my face. Thank you Style Council.
hope your doing well
Hang in there Nicole !!!
PCR can not detect infections.
Everything is fake.

Come to New Zealand for a break
I was lucky enough to see Mr Weller perform this live this summer at The Lytham Festival- absolutely brilliant and something I’ll cherish forever

I could not even dream of being this cool.
Thanks for all the wonderful music
Paul Weller is just such an incredible artist he is up there with the likes of well ...the best of the best. Big part of not only the UK but the world! The Mod Father rock and soul.
pure class, Weller and DeeCee looking fabulous, proper tune
That jacket, Weller's oh-so-cool slide/80s dancing...a fantastic track from a fantastic band!
What a great song! Lifts me up every time!!
Yes, this song is giving me a drive to keep going in life, I was scammed in October last year and lost all my life savings, but I’m just over halfway towards earning it back through hard work. So when I was down on the bottom all I could do from then on was ‘SHOUT TO THE TOP!!!’

This is the best song to test your stereo system to. Full range of instruments, frequencies and vocals. I used to carry the vinyl with me when buying systems worth thousands of dollars.
Was that trading your food stamps?🤔😂
