    I just wanna let you know that you made my day. After 6 hours of tweaking and troubleshooting I was really close to getting rid of that toothbrush. Nothing worked for me and I almost gave up watching your video too early. For me the issue was blown fuse. My dad probably shorted the pins of controller - before passing me the toothbrush to take a look. You are great man! I just shorted the fuse which isn't the best solution, but it is the solution that's working. Thank you once again.

    Thank you very much for your videos. It helped me to successfully fix the issue with the loudness on Philips Sonicare HX992R (180630). I was able to separate the coil and vibrating magnet (about 1.5 mm) enough to reduce dB back like new (after 2 years old). I also tightened the all the screws to secure the head pin and put silicon grease before assembling back. This saved me $$$!

    On motherboard there is a bridge in the bottom right corner, when I was removing the old battery I think I removed the bridge by mistake it took me 1 hours to realise.
    I followed the + path and then - path, and found it.

    Great video, thanks for posting. Do you have a video on how to take the board off the unit? I have a PBCR3 board that won't power on. Ive had mixed results with continuity on the power button, works then doesnt. Since my board is a little different I cant tell where you are testing around 15:00 from power button hole to near U1 chip. Does the test point have a label? I used multimeter from power button hole and ran probe along U1 chip and the unit powered on. I assume that means the path from power button is bad. From which points would I have to solder a jumper and to which spot? Thanks.

    • @letsfixitgarage
      @letsfixitgarage  Před 2 lety

      Sorry I don't know all the models. But idea would be the same. To take it off desolder battery terminals and induction coil terminals and it should come off.. for the point. I would do the following: first remove the battery so you wouldn't short something :) Then simply follow the line to which point on the chip it gets. Then it's up to you if you find some place where the track is corroded away - repair it, if no you can run a jumper wire from button directly to the chip..

  • @andrewmeek7767
    @andrewmeek7767 Před 4 lety +1

    Brilliant and I managed to replace the battery and the corroded line under the on off button but also managed to blow the small fuse by the Battery positive terminal. You mentioned checking this for a dead toothbrush but what is this fuse called and where could I buy one.

    • @letsfixitgarage
      @letsfixitgarage  Před 4 lety +1

      If the fuse blew it means (or I assume that it means :) ) that there was still a short on the board.. and for the fuse itself i ordered some from china.. when it will arive and if it will fit I can list the name here as these micro fuses are quite different in sizes. But what you want to look for is a P letter on it it's the value of the fuse..

    • @letsfixitgarage
      @letsfixitgarage  Před 4 lety

      @@andrewmeek7767 for now no updates, sorry. I'm afraid that the most comon place could be the board itself specially when corosion goes in to the throughout holes or under protective coating.. electromagnet would be my last suspect as it is just a wire so if you have a short it would mean a lesser vibration but not ahorting board.. or thats what I'm assuming.. but you can check it by simply desoldering the electromagnet if the board works (lights up) after that maybe i'm wrong with my assumptions..

    My toothbrush got water damaged too, it vibrated a little bit whenever I pressed the button, but it couldn't start. I took the pcb out and dried it out, it still had the same problem. But suddenly one time when I pressed the button, it started to work. And shortly the Q1 burnt out with smoke. I think Q1 is in the H-Bridge you mentioned. The weird thing is, after the Q1 burnt out, the toothbrush started to work without any problem. What is going on there? Is there any potential problem without the Q1? Should I replace the damaged Q1? Is it as same as Q2?

    First off, I am very thankful for your videos. I repaired my diamond clean with a new PCB board since it had water damage. Everything seems to work great after replacing, but now it will not charge. At least, the light will not come on like normal when placing it to charge. I tested continuity on the top and bottom of the charging coil as well as the test points next to the pins and checked out fine. Not sure why I can't get a charge. Have you come across this when replacing the pcb board or anything?

    • @letsfixitgarage
      @letsfixitgarage  Před 5 měsíci

      difficult to say.... if you have old board you can double check the KLB chip as it is mostly responsible for charging. if coil is not damaged by removing the toothbrush from case only charger could be faulty... although they are quite reliable..

    • @letsfixitgarage
      @letsfixitgarage  Před 4 měsíci +1

      KLB chip is usually found on diamondclean and other boards on the bottom part of the motherboard. There are two chips one of them 5 legs if not mistaken will have KLB on it. If you have 2 brushes you can check both boards chips in resistance or diode mode and see if something comes out as faulty. Do take out battery before testing as not to short something..
