Ironically for many centuries the elephant's ancestors were killed to make the keys of the piano.
Kirk Gibbs it’s heartbreaking
Wow
Yep. That’s why they’re called ivory’s. Devastating.
They sound good when played tho
@@daryeusford9696 So you would rather have a majestic animal be brutally killed and taken away from their families and herd rather than have it be made of normal materials that dont cost someones life and sound just as good. Smh
The baby elephant at the end was too cute "OOPS did I mess things up?, let me sneak away and like like it wasn't me".
Their taste of music is just like us people. The older ones like classical music while the younger elephants like fast, thrilling music. It just adds to their intelligence! 😊
Elephants have been known to appreciate music, Paul Barton has an entire channel dedicated to this, he's a wholesome guy
Just Some Guy without a Mustache Thanks for this info. Stay safe.

@@puchu_5001 you must be new if you haven't seen either this mustachio guy, the bigfoot or the yeti
Most animals do. I've seen videos of different people with different species of animals all enjoy some kind of instrument making music. People forget we are animal's too. If we enjoy music why wouldn't another species enjoy it as well. Beautiful...
Paul's also an epic dad. He's put some videos up of his little girl growing up and doing things with him - including some outstanding art! And his wife has a beautiful voice. Such a wonderful family!
The baby at the end!!!!! He was like ‘oh no I’m sorry!’ So cute!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Elephants are just colossal doggos :D
Evening is some sort of dog 😂 does are giant grass dogs 😅😅
Smarter than dogs.
They’re aren’t the doggos, we are doggos to them
No. They are smarter than dogs, they are not bred to be submissive and dependant, and they are no pet.
They are persons, living longer than us and having societies, families, relationships which are exterior to us. They are no dogs.
You reminded me of george of the jungle
There are tears running down my face right now. This was one of the most touching experiences I've had. This video changed me.
Hope ur still doing good ❤❤❤
Get to know that elephants are self-aware. Please never harm an elephant or buy any elephant ivory. Double damn the elephant poachers!!!! I hope a bull elephant stomps them into a mudhole.
So it wasn't just me? lol This one really got to me.
What a moment of beauty in this ugly world
@fenrif it is
well until we go away it will continue to be ugly
Sometimes I hope the world will be better eventually but then I realize that’s impossible, humanity will never change.
Camel ah but don’t you see? We’ve changed quite a lot since we were hunters and gatherers. We’ve made innovations that have lifted the vale’s of obscurity and understood were others wouldn’t have dared in fear of god or the state. Yes humans to have a propensity for violence but we also have a propensity for discovery and driving forward. Look outward and help others to look outward instead of inward.
Palmer Aviles True, still it’ll be a long while before all this violence ends.
I love how he uses a real, upright piano, rather than an electronic one. This man has standards.
They can probably feel the vibrations which may help to calm and destress them as well. Much healthier than an electric keyboard.
An electric piano would also, y'know, need electricity
@@TriangularPrism there’s battery operated electric keyboards
@@Wtfwhatisthis For some reason, this never occurred to me
It’s beautiful to see this kind of empathy and compassion for these vulnerable, injured and formerly abused elephants; it’s right to simply care about them because they are obviously intelligent and social beings who mourn their dead, sometimes staying for many many days at a time with the remains of one of their friends. I can’t look at that behavior and ignore it or dismiss it, it looks and feels too much like the way we grieve and suffer when we lose people and pets that we love.
So to show these animals some respect and support is deserved. They’ve been through too much injustice and pain at the hands of some humans. I don’t want to see them be miserable, and afraid of all of us - these elephants deserve to be protected them from their previous, bad human captors, and rehabilitated as best as they can. Hopefully they can be happy as they live out the rest of their lives, with a little piano music now and then. 🐘 🤍
Without compassion we have no future......great video and great job!
Not every day you get to see an elephant relaxing to classical music. And to see them build this beautiful bond.. absolutely heartwarming :)
You'll enjoy his Paul Barton's CZcams channel, enough videos for one a day easily.
@@debbys-abqnm4537 This video was Awe Inspiring!
It’s so funny how they touch each other’s ears like saying “do u hear that???””””

Also the throwing dirt over their head, that must be a sign of great appreciation
This just warmed my heart to tears! Elephants are THE most amazing animals, and for this man to care enough to try to make their life better gives me hope, and proves angels exist
So because this guy plays music that means you think there is evidence for a sexless race of essentially organic robots that serve god?
Must not have read the Bible, I know, most people just make whatever religion they claim as they go with no relevance to reality and scripture but it baffles me how anyone can relate modern morality and kindness to what the source material says about them which often would be considered outright evil by modern standards. Which is one reason why the Bible only gets lip service these days and no one dares actually follow it.
@@justinmartin4662 I cannot understand what your point is.
@@justinmartin4662 The bible? Religious belief (and blind 'faith') is a product of mental illness. Fact. Go get help
This was one of the sweetest and nicest things I've ever seen.
It should be clear and obvious to anyone, that elephants are not just very smart animals, but are indeed sentient beings on a scale equal to humans, apes, dolphins, octopi, etc.
Clearly all such creatures should deserve the respect and consideration which humanity seems compelled to reserve for itself only and even then, not often.
No wonder, why "other" higher intelligences refrain from having contact with us.
- 😃♉❤✌
Hmm, not sure how octopi fit into your picture
all animals deserve dignity and respect regardless of whether you and others deem them intelligent and regardless of their proximity to the human experience.
Octopi are amongst the highest in intelligent life scientists have discovered recently. They don't know why, but look up videos. It's incredible!@@sampuatisamuel9785
This man needs a whole documentary. His story is beautiful but I'm just so curious about what inspired this dream of his. As it is now, it just seems like he randomly woke up one day and went, "... You know what? I think I'd like to play piano for rescued elephants." Dodo, get on this xD
He has a CZcams channel. Just look under Paul Barton 😉
He actually did make a documentary, released in 2014. It's called "Music for Elephants." :)
He has a bunch of videos with different elephants he plays for. Look him up..he's phenomenal to say the least
Well you have 199 likes... Let's hope the Dodo listens!!!
I just love how elephants are unaware of their physical size and act like babies....they are such beautiful creatures. My experience in Thailand where they provide elephant rides I could see how sad they look forced against their will, I chose to feed them with the money that usually the mahout charges for the rides.
Good on you for recognizing that! Too many people still believe it's an okay thing to do and have little regard for the elephant or don't realize that the elephant has been broken. Bull hooks are nasty weapons and I hope that elephant rides don't exist in the future
Are elephant rides in general bad? Horses often enjoy carrying a person on their backs, as long as they have fun and are treated well, and don't have to walk around in circles all the time. Okay, usually horses that are used to teach beginners at riding schools aren't often that happy, but when they bond with someone most are happy doing it. Is it similar for elephants? That it's okay for a few people to ride on them, but not commercially?
Taylor h I was in Thailand to and those sticks with the spikes in them to control them are fuckin sick
I understand that some animals can carry loads like donkeys, horses and elephants. But my question to you as a human if your capacity is to carry 10 kgs of load and if I pile you with more than you capacity. You will speak it out. The poor animal has no speech and if he/she cries they are hit with a stick. And we live in a world of technology why use these animals...send them in their own habitat, the universe put them their and they will know to fend for themselves. If I had an elephant like in certain parts of kerela they have elephants only the mahouts ride it and people can come there play with them and give them baths. No rides at all. And even if the elephant is capable of riding they will push it to its extreme.
The problem is the breaking (physically and mentally) of baby elephants to accept their fate of logging or giving rides. It's truly monstrous, I dont understand how men can live with themselves. They literally torture the elephant to break its spirit. When you go on an elephant ride you support that practice. I strongly encourage you to google it and I think you'll understand.
Cry😢 this is very touching
Elephants do never forget anything you did to them
they can also remember Faces
Most people underestimate the personality and intelligence of most animals.
Dean Harris both better than most humans!
@@shirley9240 total agreement enlightened one.
And everytime the animals show that they have emotions, empathy, compassion etc, humans move the goal posts saying "that's not what I meant...."
I find it disgusting that a lot of people say that animals have no soul.
@@thedarcbird when people say animals have no souls it just shows what small-minded and egotistical people they are. It tends to be super religious people and animal abusers (or both) that think this.

We feed the squirrels too, with raw in-shell peanuts. The blue jays hear us outside in the backyard and they come flying in and land on the patio roof and hop around making noise until I throw a peanut onto the grass for THEM and then, they launch off the patio roof and go right to that ONE peanut, out of all the others on the grass, pick it up - sometimes without landing - they just fly over and snatch it up and off they go to hide it. Then they come back and ask for more. It's fun.
