- Watch Katriel and me install the Access Limited Tonneau Cover.
Here is a link to the pliers I was bragging about in the video:
tractortimewithtim.com/wordpre... - Jak na to + styl
family project - made me smile, they grow up so quick brother .....thanks for sharing, am looking for a cover to replace the current one and this was helpful....
Tim, I think young daughter has the answer, Let her ride in the bed of the Ridgeline and push up on the bottom of the cover to retain tension and stop the flapping resonance. She is so SMART. Another fine instructional video.
Hmm. that is a great idea! Thanks for the nice comment.
“Water always flows from the highs to the lows.” And then the explanation that some kids think water flows from north to south.
Katriel.... that’s so awesome. Where I live the rivers flow from north to south so that has been my perspective. Recently I bought 75 wooded acres. There is a nice stream that runs south to north! Until I saw this video (I just bot a Ridgeline) I have marveled that my stream flows south to north. Now I knows that water flows from highs to lows.
Love the way you interacted with your kid and had them to the work. They even took your dad jokes in stride. LOL
Thanks for buying a ridgeline. How many of your viewers know it's built in Lincoln, AL? yep made in America!
Good deal. We really like it.
Assembled in Alabama not built big difference
Union made:)
Tractor Time with Tim how is cover working so far
@@joshriddle4797 'built in the USA' and 'assembled in the USA' are the same thing - 'made in the USA' is the differentiator.
Thanks for the video, we just bought my wife a 2018 Ridgeline Touring and have to install a cover so this was perfect timing. I just bought a F-150 as well. I call hers the city truck and mine the country truck. God is good, all the time.
Thanks for watching!
Nice work & looks good on the truck. Good to see you & your family working together. I just put one of those style of covers on my dad's truck today. Now he can put his golf clubs in the bed of the truck & not have to worry about them. Stay safe.
Came here for the Ridgeline bed cover, stayed for the delightful father daughter interaction. What a great dad. What a great daughter. Everyone else, take notes. Way to do it Tim!
Thanks Chris! Welcome to our channel!
I have the same Access Limited Tonneau cover for my 2013 Ridgeline and it has been great so far.
So no road/wind noise ?
Great family involved video for DIYer's. The tonneau cover should help increase your highway miles per gallon range. Great video.
You guys are awesome I own a 2016 x730 with a 54inch auto connect mower deck and a 47inch Quik hitch snow blower and I have 110.6 hours on it and I'm 12!
I love the banter on your videos. It cracked me up when the compressor kicked on, I have a rattletrap oilless compressor that likes to do that to me at inappropriate times. FYI, those pliers are knipex cobras. Knipex makes excellent pliers.
Put my cover on the ridgeline last weekend. Super helpful to have this video to follow. Appreciate it!
Thanks Brian! Thanks for watching. Do you like your cover?
Tractor Time with Tim love it. Everything about this truck is perfect for me and the cover was just the cherry on top. Hope yours is treating you well 👍🏻
Yes. I love the truck. The cover is loud, like a drum, but very functional. Couldn't be happier with the truck.!
Nice vid. Katriel has the best one liners. “Suggesting Improvements”. “Driven Insane”. LOL! I’m looking at possibly purchasing a 2010 Ridgeline. Same color. Love the versatile storage.
Thanks!
@12:44 Fun fact: The Genesee river in upstate new york also flows from the south to the north. it also empties into Lake Ontario in Rochester, and is what the Genesee Brewing Company is named for!
Such a nice family. I’m not sure that I learned enough to install a tonneau cover myself, but I still enjoyed the video!
Yep. That is the important part. We had fun installing it. Glad you had fun watching it!
Hey Tim, looking for a new video from you. Hope all is well with you and your family. Thanks for sharing!
+scottcrick yea, sorry for delay. Quite busy
I used your video to install my cover! Thanks for posting!
Thanks for watching!
Nice job guys it looks great ! boy the face Katriel makes when the air comes on i was waiting for you to start laughing ! LOL take care have a great weekend ! curt
we both jumped. It was just a lot more noticeable on Katriel. Wow, when that things comes on unexpectedly, it catches us all off-guard.
I decided to leave it in the video because I found it humorous.
Yes been there done that !!
the factory Honda bed covers are lot easier to to install and remove withe no brackets in the way Tim but that looks like a nice product for a aftermarket one. I work for Honda as a technician. and hope you don't have the water intrusion recall on your Ridgeline
Most people don't know but a screw driver is made to have a box wrench go over to help with taking it off screws
Nice Father Daughter video, enjoyed it
Tim, I have just started watching your videos and i am enjoying them a lot. It is nice to see the whole family getting in and helping with your projects. Your daughter is definitly enjoying playing with tractors and other outdoor projects around the home. It would be nice to see a few more videos of the girls driving the tractor and operating the loader & backhoe.
I started driving tractors and earthmoving machinery when I was about 10 years old, 50 years ago. my first tractor was a Grey Ferguson TEA model, then a Massey Ferguson 35. They are very basic by todays standards. I still love getting behind the wheel of any tractor I can get my hands on which isn't as often as i would like.
Tim, can you please tell me what the aerial on the centre on the roof of your ute is for?
+born2flyau thanks for the comment! Aerial on the truck? I'm not sure. I assume it is for satellite radio
born2flyau it's a XM radio antenna
Thanks Kenny, Unfortunately I don't think XM radio is available in Australia.
What do you prefer? The f350 or the ridgeline for when you are towing?
Did you also add a tailgate lock? I was planning on getting a Ridgeline and adding a cover, but learned only the trunk locks, not the tailgate.
+Alex Wen I do not have a tailgate lock. Remember, there is a very large trunk, and IT locks.
Great job guys, looks great. LOL, that was great when the air compressor kicked on, LOL That was good. Thanks for sharing, you guys stay safe.
+Cary Hubbard & Family Channel yea. Glad I left that in there!
Katriel she's a real doll
I added the MX Bak Flip hard cover with folding sections to my Ridgeline. It is funny I am now buying a 17 JD 1025R with all the implements I can think of for a small place we are buying to clear some of the woods, put a fence up and gates. Not as much use I am sure (until my neighbors find out I have a capable JD) to do around the place we are buying but should still be a great addition to the property.
GOOD job Tim just got a 60 inch box blade for the green machine it was painted but now is green. you still need to come see me
+mark yes, need to do that.
maybe you could use it
I have a Ridgeline as well, how did the Tonneau cover work out for you and do you like it?
Enjoy watching and look forward to more.
Works well. Only issue is that it doesn’t allow trunk door to open fully.
@@TractorTimewithTim Honda may have to redesign the trunk lid
Nicely done - any chance we could get some additional video of the interaction of the mounting rails and the trunk bed cover ? Interested in seeing how far the cover will open.
Thank you
Yes, good idea to provide a bit of a review now that we've had it for awhile. I just didn't want to add any more to that video, as it was already quite lengthy! We'll get on this soon.
Tractor Time with Tim you guys are awesome!
+JohnDeereman f350 do you live near us?
Tractor Time with Tim I live in Syracuse newyork!
I noticed you were using a pair of pliers to turn your driver. Did you know the handle of the tork driver was designed so you can use a boxed in wrench on it?
Nice vid. My Yukon XL is getting long in the tooth and I've been looking for something that would carry people and still have some towing and storage capacity/utility. With my kids going off to school and setting off on their own, the Ridgeline looks like a great choice. How do you like the infotainment screen? I've seen other reviews that raised similar concerns about the screen smudging and the lack of a volume knob. Do you find those to be problems? Thanks for sharing and best of luck to your daughter in school.
+Paul Franke we love the Ridgeline. Thinking about getting a second one!
The complaints about the infotainment center are overrated in my opinion. Yes, it smudges, but it works well. As for volume, I always use the steering wheel anyway.
I think you will love it!
Nice job Tim an you had plenty of help! Do you know about the new master lock not sure how long it has been in production but it's made for keeping people honest. It's a tail gate lock that fits around the pin on tail gate where it can be removed and stolen. They can be purchased on Amazon for about $16. Even if tail gate has a keyed lock which can be drilled out the tail gate cannot be stolen with this lock
One weakness of the Ridgeline is that it doesn't have a lockable trunk. Would this tailgate lock still work?
Tractor Time with Tim I'm sure it would if one is made for your truck. I bought one because living in Florida too many people are crooks. it's trust no one here unless you are good friends. Lol
duh, I mean "doesn't have a lockable tailgate". It actually DOES have a trunk, and the trunk IS lockable.
Having a cover for the bed is always nice. A normal four door, full size pickup is too long for my garage. That's why I bought a Chevy Avalanche. Four doors, will carry a full sheet of plywood with the tailgate closed, and fits in the garage with inches to spare. Of course they don't make them anymore which is why my 2013 is going to have to last me a long time.
+TractorMonkey with JL check out the Ridgeline. It is the closest you'll get. Very short for a 4 door truck. Shorter than my old super cab Tacoma
love the color truck!
Are you in the Midwest? Just asking cuz the Menards Hoodie. I lived in Illinois for 6 years and just moved to Florida. Menards was my family’s go to hardware store.
Indiana
can you tuck a regular size cooler under that cover
Curious, can you open the trunk all the way or does the rail system interfere?
It hits the rail system. ...but it opens wide enough that this is not an issue.
Sorry Katriel but I had to watch it twice when the air compressor kicked on and made you jump. :-) It does look good all done.
+mi2tn whew! Gave us a jolt for sure!
Can you swing the tail gate open from right to left with the cover on?
+lemondrop yes. I'll try to demo this better soon in a 'review' video of sorts.
Question about the trunk door of the Honda Ridgeline. Does the cargo lights still shine down in the trunk with the cover in closed position? Does it allow enough access into the trunk to place groceries with the cover in closed position? How difficult is it to pop the cover open and closed? (Female asking) I use the trunk 100% of the time and didn’t want to pop the cover open every time.
Thank you
(I guess there is a reason we can’t find a video with someone opening the trunk of the Ridgeline with covers closed )
Kit, All good questions. I think I can help with these questions. Let me start with the 'order of operations' for opening the rear.
First, we open the tailgate 'top/down'. I find this easiest for the next step, but you can open the tailgate right to left with the cover on.
The problem is that you can't easily close the tailgate with the cover down and attached. So, each time before we prepare to close the tailgate, we must unlatch the cover, releasing the tension. We don't roll it back much (if at all, but we do unlatch it).
My wife finds that step one above is difficult. She is 5'3" or so, and has trouble pulling the tailgate down when the cover is tight.
I can open it with no problem.
Then, the latches are controlled by 'strings/ropes' under the top of the cover. Pulling these ropes downward pulls the latches in from the left and right sides. This frees the cover to move upward out of its restraints.
Again, my wife finds releasing these latches somewhat difficult. Perhaps I need to apply some WD40 in there somewhere to make it easier??? Perhaps I WOULD if I really loved her (just joking). Check out more of our channel videos to see our truly special relationship in action.
Anyway, the cover must be unlatched to close the tailgate anyway, so some of your questions above become irrelevant. You don't have to 'roll-up' the cover, just unlatch it. Once you have the cover unlatched, you can easily open the trunk 'most' of the way.
I say 'most' of the way because the trunk lid hits the rails of the cover before it gets all the way open.
It DOES open far enough for the cargo lights to shine into the trunk cavity.
I'll ask my wife to take a look at this comment. If she has more comments/advice, she will add it.
Does that answer your questions?
This is Christy. I drive the Ridgeline a lot of the time. I do not use the trunk for groceries. I just put them in the back seats area with the seat folded up. It would be a pain to unroll the cover far enough to open the trunk and put the groceries in and then close it back up again. As Tim said I have trouble getting the cover unlatched and latched. I think I am a little short and maybe weak!
We use the trunk mostly when we travel. It is really nice to have.
I do love the Ridgeline!
I wish all trucks would come standard with composite bed liners. My 01 ford has no cover and the bed is all dented up.
I cheated with mine. I had the dealer install it and the nerf bars on my truck before I picked it up.
Just bought the same truck, was looking for a cover, any issues since the purchase and what’s the price? Thanks for any help you provide.
No issues. You can look up the price same as me.
Thank you for doing this because the instructions were really bad which came with the cover
Can you hear the cover drum sound while driving, and does your in bed trunk open all the way without hitting the rails?
Yes, and No. (less than desirable answer for both questions :-) )
Thank you! Great looking truck also.
Does the cover make any noise going down the road like you thought and is there any water getting in? When I get one I'll see if I can get my Daughter to help me. lol
+Ken Hanecak yes, sounds like a bass drum. No water that we have seen. We run it open most of the time, only closed if needed. We like it overall.
I would never have thought of the noise factor. I'm glad I watched you video. thanks
+Ken Hanecak we found that if the bed is totally full of stuff, no noise.
Thanks for watching!
I have been driving tractor trailers for over 20 years and I'm half deaf anyway. lol I would keep it rolled up most the time as well
Can you still use the in bed trunk?
looking good. Take care, be safe, later
Cute daughters like her who also work on vehicles with their dads might make son's obsolete.
what state / town are y'all in
wish my family was as close as yours .. awesome videos ..
+Jim Sibio I wish that for you Jim. Hard to beat our family situation. We thank God for that daily!
Tim, my son has the same top on his GMC 2500 with an 8 ft bed and travels about 200 miles per week and has never complained about cover noise.
Great video of the family working in the barn but I would have thought that Johnny would have been able to help holding the cover and pushing the seals down tight. Also my finance committee had our monthly meeting an all I got was a giggle , is that a bad sign? :(
+Ken Litherland sounds like more lobbying needed with the finance committee! Jewelry might help.
The special assistance part was funny because when I do home improvement stuff and I need help. I will make the tone and say special assistance needed in the whatever area i am in.
Hi Tim, can you tell me if you find the Access cover to be noisy? According to the rep from Access Covers, the Ridgeline is the only truck they add the dampening kit for the support rails. He said it was because it was of the excessive noise on just this truck.
Sounds like a bass drum. ...unless the bed is full of cargo.
So you would recommend I try a different tonneau cover? I had an Access on my last truck and loved it, but will go a different direction if I should.
No. I like this cover. I assumed they were all noisy.
I don't believe so. My cover on the 2009 Tacoma wasn't, and the one on the new Tacoma isn't either. Access knows it's a problem on the Ridgeline, apparently because of the body shape.
Tim, sounds like you had a Tacoma previously. Are you happy with your switch from the Tacoma to the Ridgeline? I had a 2009 Tacoma I really liked, then I bought a 2018 Tacoma and am disappointed in it. I preferred the gen 2 Tacoma. The ride is stiffer, sight lines are worse, and it wants to shift all the time. I am looking to trade up to a 2019 Ridgeline.
Fun how to family project.
+Spartan 4890 yes. It was a great start to our Christmas vacation! Thanks for watching!
Hello , Tim , very good , and relaxed , we have time to see , appréciate and to realize at down to our hobbits level to realy what we are going into
I did appreciate this video and the improvement in the quality of the video .i know it is not easy to do that. This time we see it all not only people
Good job !!!!
+S Faucon this is more like our normal video. This was shot before Christmas. It was just difficult to edit it down to a reasonable time length
Soooo does the cover make any noise on the road?
I wanted to provide a bit of a 'review' near the end of the video. However, it was running so long that I decided to skip that.
Yes, it sounds like a bass drum if the truck bed is empty. We keep it 'rolled up' unless we need it.
If the bed is full of stuff, then it doesn't sound bad at all. So, it was fine on our trip. We just can't leave it covered all of the time.
Overall, a decent compromise.
Tractor Time with Tim sweet, I have been thinking of getting a roll up cover myself for my RL. I wonder if the bed is empty and one just threw some blankets in the bed of that would get rid of the drum bass noise.
+Andreas M the drum sound isn't too bad. It is reduced by anything in the bed, but not eliminated until the bed is full.
Tractor Time with Tim great, thanks for the info and great video. I think I will be getting one of these soon.
At 14:56 that we need details how to hold that front box coverup
Daddy little helper. She like to help out dad a lots mom feel like she got two kids sometimes HE-HE ☺☺
I think if your daughter wasn't there, I would have closed the video. She' funny! Thanks for doing the video.
It's been 2 years, how is the cover holding up?
Thanks for watching.
It is just like new.
Like I've said before, the worst part is the 'bass drum sound' while driving. Once the truck bed is full, this is reduced, but when the empty bed is covered, it is enough to be a bit annoying.
I would have liked to have seen you open the trunk for clearance.
The trunk lid does NOT clear the cover rails. However, it opens wide enough to function fine.
the 2020 Honda Ridgeline and the Ford Ranger are the two most made in America trucks 70 percent .who says we cant make good cars n truck anymore.
its funny you say 17 and up! You'll see what I mean in 2021. I'm guessing you'll be amazed!
Doesn't seem like that would hold up well with winter snow ... heavy winds and etc
Can you open the tailgate without the cover open? (for small items) Next on the wish list Led bed lights?
Well, you have to...there is no way to open the cover without opening the tailgate first.
Boy, did she jump when the compressor came on !
That is exactly why I left that in there. Thanks for catching it.
Wow, that thing really jolts us when it comes on without us using air. Got a leak somewhere. Oh well.
that was great. thanks.
+Bob Mullins thanks Bob!
Last Friday I picked up my new (2017) ridgeline. Tomorrow I plan on getting a tonneau Cover for it so I was interested in the how to video. But your video with your kids help made it real for me. Are you happy with it?
+Bob Mullins yes, overall very happy. One complaint. It sounds like a bass drum. Even with the 'dampening kit' which is just some rubber on the cross pipes.
Check out some more of our videos. You might enjoy the family interaction, even if you are NOT a tractor lover!
So how many bags of groceries does that bed hold lol.
Ok, point taken. This thing is so comfortable that we DO use it as a car. In fact, Christy has stolen it from me. Haven't heard from you in awhile. You doing ok?
Tractor Time with Tim yes I am fine. I've been busy got married and am gearing up to go shark fishing and training a bird dog to hunt with my father in law. Rough life here.
It's nice your wife checks up on you two.
are there French instructions
+tintin395 good question. Agricover.com
We are men!!!! We don’t need no stupid instructions or badges because we don’t read. We already know how it should be installed
That is what Chuck Norris would say!
the trucks gunna lose power trying to pull that tunn cover.
really, a Honda truck
trade your Deere for a cables tractor
+Barry Harman welcome to our channel!
Not trying to be rude but it's too tight.
How is the best way to minimize noise? Ours sounds like a bass drum when driving at highway speeds. We thought tighter might help?
A Honda really Tim no ford or Chevy come on man lol
Have you tried one? Wow! What a wonderful ride. Smooth, quiet. Wow.
All the useless banter is irritating. Just do a how to install video. And get some lapel mikes so your not talking in a tunnel.
Did you look at the date? Perhaps check out some our newer videos.
now I see why you'd use the tractor to pull the trailer.
