      THIS is why she said "reductive" in relation to Gaga's "Born This Way". I don't think it was an attack on Gaga's artistry (perhaps a little), but rather a frustrated dig at how she had never been given due in her huge ground-work with fighting for issues like homophobia.
      Madonna opened SO many doors and is never really respected for it. People focus on her "shock" factor and the Sex Book, etc.

  • @johnnyatab
    @johnnyatab Před 10 lety +326

    This is 1991. This is why she is the queen. It's not that she is just the queen of pop. She is also a feminist and what she did had a point and made a major impact on society. She was talking about homophobia when no one else was. She spoke up and stood up for herself as a woman and behaved as an equal to men which was rare then. There was no one like her at the time and that is why she is above all these new pop tarts. She has done so much and accomplished it first which is different than copying and pasting what other's, i.e. MADONNA has done. And it is not because she is older. It's because she was one of a kind, intelligent, daring and talented. Today, I feel she is in a strange part of her career and I am not sure where she is headed. I hope she reinvents herself again and shocks us somehow in agood way again because people today are so disrespectful and don't seem to take her seriously anymore.

    I LOVE Truth or Dare it was GROUNDBREAKING for its time. Madonna actually started the whole "Music World Tour Documentary Film" genre, because if you think about it, it didn't exist as a part of a pop music career beforehand.

    • @semitavi8259
      @semitavi8259 Před 6 lety +20

      Exactly!! That's what could be asked about almost every interview Madonna had to go through in the early nineties. All the conservative interviewers seemed to be oh, SO shocked about this immoral woman before them! But she stands for herself, every f***ing time and shows them her intellect. Still, must have been hard! In the end though, she proved them all wrong. She stayed successful and in fact opened many people's eyes on hypocrisy plus doors to everyone who doesn't fit into the patriarchal dream of life where minorities are nothing. She's a pioneer and a heroine! (Y)

      Interviewers back then weren't sucking up to celebs like they do nowadays. Madonna is even bored in interviews nowdays because nobody dares to ask her anything that makes her think.

      Only because Madonna was a woman was she interrogated like this!! But, she hit back hard. Madonna has definitely pushed back on male world views and smashed the glass ceiling for a lot of these younger artists today. I love Madonna and she is a great actress, singer and entertainer! People are fools of they believe she acted like this in her private life. Love when said "that's their problem" haha

    Love how confident and intelligent she is. Madonna will always be The Queen of Pop in my opinion. She has always been outspoken about topics that some people think are offensive. I think that she paved the way for a lot of the younger female pop stars to be outspoken about a lot of different topics and also be political with their music.

  • @jmgnish

    I watched an interview recently that was recorded sometime between then and now and I had the same feeling from that interviewer, that they just wanted to break her and make her seem like she is all the negative traits that her image has always been burdened with but because she had that many more years under her belt they couldn't ask her about hoping to be successful or wanting to have normal things but they still tried to drag her down this line of questioning around being relevant and basically telling her she's old and her fans have been stolen by Lady Ga Ga. Again she handled herself with honest answers and acknowledged the possibility of what he was saying but kept bringing the focus back to a positive perspective. You don't get to be as successful as she is without being smart, hard working and talented. And of course being stylish (an understatement I know) and hot (still!) help a lot.

    First: A good interviewer never tells his opinion, he´s only asking why. He is only a link between interviewing person and viewer. Never calling someone "control freak"
    Second: Huge respect towards Madonna for not slapping this guy to face (for most of the time truly offensive questions)

    - "Where do you see yourself in 20 years?"
    Let me answer that for you, Madonna:
    2012 - Madonna is still the strongest female in the music business, touring the world with what is poised to be on the top 3 most successful tours in history, the MDNA Tour. Not to mention that her latest studio album (MDNA) is the 5th best selling album of the year.
