"Change is important because it means that you've grown, it means that the life that you've lived has affected you." Beautifully stated at 6:20. Such a wonderfully poignant celebrity, something that is rare nowadays
I remember this was aired on a New Year’s Eve, probably 1990 on BBC1 Uk , I think I asked my Aunt to “ set the video timer” to record it for me... I was 11.. and thus began my journey with the Queen of Pop.. I miss this Madonna, she really did rule the World during this time! Relaxed, funny and a touch tongue in cheek she seemed to be so much fun, I wish she was the same now! I watched this video tape so much and it was nice to hear other people commenting on the same... she seemed untouchable, almost Godlike, I think I preferred her that way! Not washing her car with Guy Ritchie on a Sunday at a Petrol Station !
Unlike so many other icons that were around before I was born or too young to appreciate, watching Madonna's evolution is truly a blessing; icon in the making. It's already to the point where I have to explain her early days and her impact to those who never knew a time without her.
"I'm in charge, I call the shots. I know what I'm doing." Sums it all up. That's what I call MADONNA. The best example of what all women should aspire to, to be in charge of their own lives, no matter how they want to live them. Mad respect for MADONNA.
WOW..possibly one of her best EVER interviews..i love how she is so much more relaxed back here and, despite me adoring her, she has become more cold with age in interviews...she is very candid here and fun....i remember watching this on t.v back in 1991..she got Best Female at the Smash Hits Poll Party that year too and she shot her welcome speech at the same time as doing this interview...
This is a good example of why she became the queen. You will never hear ..any other females singers talking like this. She is the originator or merging art, music , culture and social issues. All who followed are fake.
One of the best interviews ever. I agree with almost everything she said, who will remember most of us in 100 years? We will be like we never existed...Also her lips looks amazing on her, she looks ultra hot, can't understand why u drag her
Her IQ is above normal and she is a very intelligent person. She has always had a good business sense. Early 90s and the collagen lips. I like like at her photos then and now to see how much she's evolved and for the better.
Madonna is so fascinating for many, many reasons.Just to name a few.. She is extremely gorgeous, very articulate and smart on just about any and every subject. She is sexy and innocent at the same time, She is a contradiction of self confidence and insecurity and doesn't try to hide it, Madonna is quite empathetic,a trailblazer for women,LGBT and any undervalued or unfairly judged group. She is such a beautiful artist and to sum it up,She is unique. There is and will only be ONE Madonna!✝
Great that you just edited all the interview clips together, was my pet hate in the 80s/90s with interviews, they would pad them out with clips of videos or other clips you'd seen a million times before !!! This show was an hour long when broadcast, just before Christmas 1990. When I was transferring all my Madonna and Kylie interviews from VHS to DVD, I also edited all the interrview clips together on each interview. Saved a tonne of space !!
Omg everyone stop talking about her lips! It's Annoying & no one would no if they didn't she her from before. They look natural unlike some of these girls today & she looks great!
The whole programme was brilliant. It's a shame the Christopher Flynn segment's missing, it was really lovely. The day my VHS Madonna interviews were lost was a very sad day. Long shot > I don't suppose you happen to have the Prince Omnibus knocking about, by any chance.
The world will need 100 years to see a woman like her. I mean her personality is common but a lot of tough women don't connect with a lot of women and men these days. They just cant achieve this kind of fame, just underground acclaim.
"Sex is..the reason for everything"! Well spoken, Madonna!! Cheers to a fearless lady, who has paved the way and touched the souls of millions.I have nothing but respect for Madonna.
Sorry - this is the entire interview segment extracted from the broadcast tv program. You can find the entire tv program on youtube I think - but it doesn't include more of this interview.
I think Madonna is still gorgeous! And what incredible willpower she has! Madge willed herself to be rich & famous and she did indeed become rich & famous She willed herself to be beautiful & she became beautiful. She willed herself into having an endless run of hit singles & lo and behold, she did that too. Do NOT underestimate this woman; she still has several decades left on this Earth and I personally can't wait to see what she does next!
She had a collagen injection in her top lip at the end of 1990 (when this was filmed - in Paris after filming the legendary video for Justify my Love). She never did it again because she felt it made her lip appear too close to her nose - ie Pete Burns : )
Donna De Lory’s superior harmonic voice of clear resonance can be heard on albums by Mylène Farmer, Carly Simon, Ray Parker, Jr., Kim Carnes, Santana, Martika, Laura Branigan, Belinda Carlisle, Selena, Bette Midler, Alisha on her album Bounce Back. *Donna De Lory also accompanied Madonna as backing vocalist and dancer on every concert from the Who's That Girl Tour in 1987. When you think your listening to massive star power, it could be, because of her angelic voice…
I find that Madonna was way more honest in interviews when she was a bit younger. In the most recent interview I saw her in - the one before the Superbowl show- she tells Cynthia that she never went into music looking for "fame and stardom", though she basically says that was her exact intention right here. I understand her for changing that statement even it's untrue, me personally I would never admit to seeking fame myself, it just sounds so vapid. However,we all know Madonna sought fame.
2:03 "i did alota bad things and i didn't feel guilty about it cuz i knew i could go to confession at the end of the week and i would be forgivin" hahahahahahaha, so thats why people luv being catholic, wow, are they duped or what, Catholicism, u gota luv it!
***** She's deliberately mislead you- honestly,if you want to know the truth about ANYTHING research it for yourself and for goodness sake DON'T take what the likes of some pop star says about anything as Gospel, pun very much intended!!!
I love this type of Madonna interviews, where she lays her soul out and be spoken. I learn a lot, feels like a lecture and it is.
This is a really great interview. She's honest, blunt, unpretentious and smart. YES.
"Change is important because it means that you've grown, it means that the life that you've lived has affected you." Beautifully stated at 6:20. Such a wonderfully poignant celebrity, something that is rare nowadays
This was on TV (BBC1) when I was little. My dad recorded it for me and I watched it so much the video broke

I could listen to Madonna speaking for hours. What an amazing woman she is. In the pop culture, there will never be anyone as good as she is.
Amen to that! She is brilliant and thoughtful as well as thought provoking. There's only one!
+Steven DuVall Yes, Steven! Love Madonna. And love you :-*
MrRD1981 Why thank you. Love you back, I think. Do I know you?
Well said I totally agree

OMFG this is the best madonna interview ive ever seen.

She is so articulate and smart in this interview. One of my favorite interviews of Madonna.
This is the best Madonna interview ever
She was who she was at the time ... and unapologetic. She does the same thing to this day. I love her for that.

I love this interview. She cracks me up. "That's why i'm here, because my parents had sex"
I was looking up the meaning of the word "perfection" and I found this video. She is PERFECTION!
This is a good example of why she became the queen. You will never hear ..any other females singers talking like this. She is the originator or merging art, music , culture and social issues. All who followed are fake.
Its crazy how the world hasnt come to far since she did this.
Anyone who says she can't sing, that's horse shit. I could watch Madonna interviews all day. She is amazing.
when the Queen dies, no one will forget who she was
I love her interviews so much she is amazing
...she is simply the best
She mentions Fritz Lang, I wonder if Britney, Christina or Beyonce have ever heard that name
And this is why she's the queen of pop. My fav. interview from her.
Love her look here, btw
"Everybody loves you when you are about to enjoy."
She's such a clever and honest woman.
What a great interview! Madonna is brilliant! :)

I love it when she says "well, that's a damn lie" when she admits making stuff up about her belly button.
11:59 the reason I have the confidence I have today. Thank u Madonna for the inspiring words
Her IQ is above normal and she is a very intelligent person. She has always had a good business sense. Early 90s and the collagen lips. I like like at her photos then and now to see how much she's evolved and for the better.
Who do you think watched this interview over and over and over thinking no one else would ever see the imitation?
I ....FUCKING .....LOVE ....THIS .....
WOMAN!! PERIOD.
We are all entitle to OUR OWN opinions. I love Madonna and all she's about. I believe we always see in others what we first see in ourselves.
Beauty & sexiness, Oh man one hell of a gorgeous woman Lady Madonna! Viva Madonna!!
i adore her hair.
Part of why she’s so fascinating had a lot of real honest insight on life despite being one of the most recognizable icons in the world at this point

Fabulous in 1990; fabulous in 2012!

HAPPY 55TH BIRTHDAY MADONNA !!!!!!!!!

Perfect editing!! :*
It's a shame that most people are not aware of this Madonna - someone who is sensitive and intelligent and not just ruthless and career-driven
Yes, I knew. I loved those extreme changes she did to confuse anybody. I love her naughtiness...

Very candid..
oh i remember when Madonna still had a soul and here it is everyone!!!
Always loved this interview, Madonna running for office, i think that be awsome 3
The whole programme was brilliant. It's a shame the Christopher Flynn segment's missing, it was really lovely. The day my VHS Madonna interviews were lost was a very sad day.

I f#cking love Madonna
❤❤❤❤
She looked really hot and youthful, during the very early 1990s.
"Sex is..the reason for everything"! Well spoken, Madonna!! Cheers to a fearless lady, who has paved the way and touched the souls of millions.I have nothing but respect for Madonna.

Divine looking here ok , absolutely gorgeous
She had collagen injections in her lips. It was well documented at that time.
Live to tell (Live version 1987)

I think she is really pretty in this video.
Full interview please?

Let's all remember that Madonna was the first woman (in mainstream) who had injected lips in 1991!
