Vitamin B12 - How Often & The Dangers Of Taking Too Much

  • Dr. Klaper tells us about vitamin b12 benefits and the dangers of vitamin b12 deficiency. Due to modern sanitation, there is very little b12 vitamin in a plant based diet so we must take vitamin b12 vegan supplements. Both Methylcobalamin and Cyanocobalamin are about the same in terms of vitamin b12 absorption. Dr. Klaper warns that taking too much vitamin b12 has been shown to potentially increase the risk of certain cancers.
Question: Does our body store Vitamin B12? Do we need to take it daily?

2:12 High homocysteine is not necessarily a sign of B12 deficiency. High homocysteine might be caused by fatty liver or folate deficiency, as well as choline deficiency (these things work together with betaine in the metabolism of fats).
( I personally had fatty liver disease, but it wasn't because any kind of deficiency; I just consumed too much oil and fats, in general, which my liver wasn't able to process and I ended up with fat being built up in the liver.)
If you're trying to know if you're B12 deficient, take a B12 test instead of checking your homocysteine, because high homocysteine levels are caused by many things.
Take B12 only if you're B12 deficient or insufficient and if you find that your B12 levels are low, not because of your high homocysteine. Sometimes B12 supplementation doesn't treat high homocysteine levels, because, as I've mentioned above, it is not the only cause of high homocysteine.

It could also be folate or vitamin B6 deficiency.
But recently it was discovered that zinc and vitamin B1 levels also have a connection with homocysteine.
But in the vast majority of cases if homocysteine is high there is a problem with B12... not in all cases but in most cases yes.

I've been taking a therapeutic dosage for neuropathy pain of 5mg/day since August. Pain relief has been dramatic - not total, but dramatic since starting these neurotropic B-Vitamines. I am NOT taking a commercial product like MetaNX - bei Alfasigma, NeuRx-TF - Bakodx, „The Protocol“, NerveReverse or Nuphoria, but rather a combination of B1, B6 (P5P), B7, B9 and B12 as well as R-LA. ALC, NAC, Mg and Omega 3. The last 5 I've been taking since around 2016 and I was first diagnosed with ideopathic peripheral polyneuropathy in 1999 and then again twice in 2012. In the studies I've read of neurotropic B Vitamins, with or without other substances or individually, the tested dosage was between 1.5mg/day and 100mg/day for up to 24 months. NONE mentioned any serious side effects, the only minor ones have been stomach queasiness, which I occassionally get. But R-LA, ACL, NAC and Omega 3 can also cause that.

What if you have low stomach acid, lack intrinsic factor or don’t have the proper gut bacteria? Any of these can make it impossible to absorb B12. You didn’t mention it might be best to take a sublingual form of the vitamin, preferably Methylcobalamin so your body won’t have to convert it to Methylcobalamin like it must do with the synthetic Cynaocobalamin.
Remember though that back then when people were drinking water out of steams everyone had a belly full of worms! Or worse. Dysentery, Cholera, Giardia and many other dreadful diseases were very common back then. Abraham Lincoln’s first love, the ‘Love of His Life’, died that way, from drinking tainted water. No antibiotics back then
General Robert E. Lee said that the main reason the South lost the war was because most of his army had WORMS! And the worms robbed his men of their vitality.

This does not make any sense. 5-10mkg daily is 35-70mkg weekly. But 500-1000mkg once or twice a week is 500-2000mkg weekly.

The reason why is because of the test shows you are low in b12 you need to take a b12 daily. And if you are not low in B12. Take a b12 daily.

I'm just one of many - which CANNOT absorb Vit B12
You HAVE TO do test - to find that out..
and with that kind of 'advice' - I would be - dead !
      I need injections
the reason WHY you may not absorb are MANY..
      - pernicious anemia !!
      - many - autoimmune diseases /my case/
and you don't know about your ability to absorb it - UNLESS YOU test it
      that's it

@@Olga-of6vp I have ulcerative colitis which I have almost healed but before I couldn't absorb either I just used the one the dissolve on tongue and it worked for me was just pointing out I've never seen anyone need a test however I would still argue everyone will not need a test.
