- Today we are looking at Omega's most legendary diver which is a pain to own, especially to wear. But the reality is actually the opposite. this works on the wrist and wears beautifully as a tool or as a statement watch.
Let's see what people say :)
Cheers,
Andrei - Zábava
55mm! Or as Invicta calls it, “ladies sized.”
😅😅😅 true!
😂😂😂
😂😂😂
The ploprof has to be my favorite omega design period!
Funnily I was sitting next to someone wearing one of these in a restaurant in Rome airport in the middle of June. Like me he was a diver and we had a great chat as he was pleased that I recognised the watch. I have to say that it looked really good in the metal on a big wrist,
Thought I'd add a positive comment. Another excellent review and of a watch that has genuine heritage and unique design elements. I've not tried a Proplof before and although I have other dive watch favourites, it is a watch to appreciate. If I were ever to get one, no way would I wear it over a shirt sleeve!!!!!
Thank you for doing that, Steve! :)
Haha, I agree my friend who helped me with the video it was shocked by my move to put the ploprof above the cuff
And i said: it's a historical thing, no worries ))))
Great vid Andrei as always! Thanks Dude
Cheers! ❤️
I own a Ploprof for years and i love the Design, the history, and enjoy how she wears. Its a hate it or love it watch..
background music is overplayed and distracting - but video is great! Left a like.
That is definitely a cool watch, I respect it. I wouldn't own one as I wouldn't wear it, due to its size. Great video 👍🏽
Cheers! Great watch indeed! :)
What an innovative design. Id never wear it but it is so cool!
An excellent take! An endearing design and charismatic tour de force. Certainly one for the collection of any dive watch fan. But... the truth behind PloProf was that it was an abject failure! Over-designed, over-built with an unreliable movement, the watch never fared well against the simpler, more reliable Sea-Dweller. More recent iterations have rarely been monoblocs and they've had to resort to an HEV - the ultimate admission that Omega could never make the design work (unlike Seiko, who could). But, we all love it - cool cool cool!
One of my friends had one of these. It was a magnificent watch! This is a one of a kind, unmistakable timepiece that leaves you feeling like you handled a proper tool watch built to last a lifetime. Great review Andrei!
I agree! Although the one which I reviewed had multiple problems below the bezel insert or above sapphire. But I agree. A tank for a life :)
@@BraveBeaters Really? At that price it is unacceptable!
@@BraveBeaters Is the one you reviewed an older piece?
@@BraveBeatersI've never seen an issue like that outside of replicas. Could be the original insert was damaged and they bought a replica insert to replace the OEM. Omega only allows for a complete bezel replacement and the last I heard they were $1350. Replica inserts are around $180 and are total junk as you can see. Any dull/Matte/dark issues on the crystal or bezel would be the exterior anti reflective coating wearing off(yep Omega actually applied it to the exterior also), I actually polished it off on mine with 0.25 grit diamond paste...the coating scratches very easily and is highly annoying.
I love it....I am waiting for the Ploprof Summer Blue
That one is a beauty :)
It looks like a UFO from the side view :) for sure a cool piece but I'll sit that model out and stick with my smp 300 keep up the great videos and reviews
Love to see your take on the sinn u50
I did a video about it. Beautiful watch! One of my favs
@@BraveBeaters just found it tks
Folks. Just like the vintage version these actually wear well, they are very comfortable for a daily watch and because the crown doesnt sit on the back of the hand there is no rubbing at all.. Sure if you are a small guy it might be a bit on the larger side (I'm 6 1" 195lbs). I switch back and forth between my Ploprof 1200 and Rolex Deep Sea James Cameron for my daily wearers.
Absolutely love that watch, but I've got a spinnaker Piccard so that shows my taste in watches. I have been lucky enough to see one in person and try it on and it's great, shame I can't afford one lol.
Great video. Your lighting is incredible.
Thank you! ❤️
The only omega I am desperate to own
would still like to own one. only one available now is the summer blue and sells for quite a hefty sum.
Or go for the used market
Love it! What a piece of brute engineering!
❤️ I agree! :)
Hard to pass due my princess wrist !! Great review as always.. keep the great work amigo !
Thank you very much! ❤️
Certainly the model that deserves the name Seamaster.
Haha! Well said! :)
Nice sink on wrist
Haha! :)
I have to wonder why the title conveys the opposite message to the actual video. Is it a joke or an experiment? Either way, I prefer not to be tricked. As for the watch, it's pretty silly for everyday wear but I like it. We can't always be practical!
The title is more a summary about it's faith as a watch, a lot of people likes it but nobody collects it.
@@BraveBeatersexactly! I’d have 10 reasons why to have one and only 1 or 2 for not to have one … the latter being heavier than the former. Hence: suks to own …
The dial and hands are a classic Omega look but the rest I don't like.
The dial is stunning. Agree
Realy interesting watch with old fashion and strange look,i lkke strange watches, only problem the very high price who make me think i will never buy it,i have a lot of other mkdels to buy before
I agree. Same here :)
Paul Landers, guitarist from Rammstein, is wearing one on some videos
Wow nice! ;)
I love the retro - futuristic look of these, but I’m not sure how it would be on my own wrist. Hope to get to try one on; my own Omega dealers don’t seem to get anything good.
L'orologio del motoco avvocato agnelli ❤ un orologio affascinante come pochi❤
If you want a diver capable of going down 5,000 metres that is incredibly comfortable to wear thanks to its compact dimensions and weight, then buy a Sinn U50 Hydro Tegimented so it won’t even get scratched. The ultimate tool watch for around £2k.
If you want the exact opposite buy the nutty Omega Ploprof.
That said, I could still be tempted!
Great video. Could I ask your wrist size?
Slightly above 7 inches in circumference. Cheers!
Ahhh le company Meritime experuise fwitout tapisaruuuuyy. Another great one Mr. Brave Crusoe.
:))))))))
a millennium falcon on wrist😁
Haha! True :)
18 sec is crazy
I love this watch, I've yet to try one but that unique functional design over form just works. Maybe one day I can justify one but not today. Many thanks for sharing your views on such an iconic watch.
Thank you Anthony! :)
Its not a monoblock, it has a caseback, unlike the original which loaded through the frount. The new "Plowprof" is a joke.
I agree.
I was surprised it wasn't the Omega Speedmaster. Popular as heck, and I would love to have one, but when you look into it, it sucks to own. It's delicate and is expensive to maintain and get fixed.
Haha! In a way you are right! Not sure how robust and reliable they are in time. But the price went for sure crazy due to the moonswatch hype.
I don’t want to sound rude but for me it sounds like you have no hands-on experience with the Speedmaster. The 321 movement has gone through apocalypse-like testing by Nasa. The 861 and later 1861 (and now the 3861) movements are almost identical, and highly robust as well. I own several Speedmasters and get charged 300€ for a service by my watchmaker (expensive?).
The Speedmaster is, together with Seiko’s engined by 6319, 6318, 7s26, 4r35, the most robust watches.
Completely false.
speedmaster is boring as hell, same with rolex sub
everyone owns a speedy at this point, and none of them has actually been to the moon
Great video, but I don’t understand the title of the video. You are constantly complimentary in the video, so why say it sucks in the title?
It kinda describes the faith of it. A lot of people appreciate it but nobody own is for obvious reasons. :)
@@BraveBeaters thank you
@@BraveBeaters yet I own a 1200 and a Vintage 600 Ploprof. Serious tool watch collectors own these.
I like big and non dressy watches, but this thing is too much.
Kinda looks like a steampunk pipboy.
😅😅😅😅😅
Nice in-depth camping stove review 😝
😅
Sorry, I must have been doing off, I didn't hear anything about why it sucks to own. I generally like the ploprof but with 6.5in wrist its never going to happen. Is this one of those "its so cool you're going to get bombarded with compliments which gets annoying" kind of arguments?
I think, like the Tuna, the should have done the new Ploprofs without the Helium valve. It was the whole idea to keep it out!
So kudos to Seiko who went all the way
This watch on my wrist while driving a RAM 2500 MEGACAB Limited Longhorn edition.... Perfect combo, While smoking a cigar
Uuu! Perfect combo! ❤️
honestly, better looking than the tuna.
Haha! Agree!
@@BraveBeatersI’d tend to disagree… 😂
Your hands are shaking, take care
too much coffee :)))
SILLY PIECE
'Omega's most iconic watch'? Don't think so.
🤿🔥 ❤🔥👍🏾 100%
It’s one ugly thing.
No... I get it... I just don't like/understand the Romanticising.. That's a opinion so leaves the review biast..
It looks ugly
O find it alarmingly suspicious that 10 different watch channel/reviewer choose to feature OMEGA watches within 3 days. There are probably more than 10, and that's not a coincidence. Very disappointed to learn you are a sellout
Come on, Omega is probably the second biggest Luxury Watch brand on CZcams, that doesn't have to mean anything.
Bore off. Rolex, Omega and Seiko. You can probably fund hundreds of new reviews in the last week on those 3 brands as they tend to be the most popular for CZcams at least.
The fact you've noticed more Omega than you probably normally do over a 3 day period means nothing.
Among thousands of watch reviewers on CZcams 10 are reviewing Omega? Shocking.
:))))) I my defence I was away for 2 weeks! Omega is popular nowadays and the coincidence increases ofc.
