I love the daily but when it comes to Israel, you seem to only scratch the surface of journalism. How about israel attacked the embassy because they wanted to draw attention away from the plausible genocide in Gaza? How about Israel attacked the embassy because they wanted to return to the image of an attacked country to gain sympathy and support when they were losing it around the world? How about Israel attacked the embassy because BiBi knows the moment the war is over he is over so he wants to prolong it to stay in power? The reason you gave is so simple and doesn't even dig at all.

Umm. You saw the part where iran backed non-state actors have been launching attacks on Israeli and American assets in the region since before Oct 7

Remarkably the images of this illegal bombing are hardly broadcast. Isn't that surprising.

It was not an attack, it was retaliation for Israel terrorist acts at Iran's Embassy in Damascus which is against International Law. Iran have the right to defend itself as it is the right of any country to defend their territory if anothet country uses terrorist tactics to attack their Embassies. You are the New York Times, start using the correct terminology when reporting and do it "equally" when refering to Israeli or Palestinian's acts of war. As a prestigious news outlet your focus should be on remembering historic issues that arised the hostilities from Palestinians against their aggressor, Israel. I think people that follow your news expect better from you and not be so biased. Israel is at fault of everything that is happening in the Middle East and now they are putting the world at the footsteps of another World War. We deserve better. Peace.

I spent one decade protecting Israel from Iraqi missiles.
I spent another decade trying to protect Israel from Iranian missiles.
All Israel had to do was try to live in peace and harmony with its neighbors.
Israel proved not to be up to the task.

      That's bullshit, man.
Iran has been steadily becoming a breakaway nuclear nation, and has been pohring funds and training into Hizbollah, Houthies, Syria (propping Asad jr) and also Hamas (literally training them for the Oct 7th attack) .
Let me remind you that before the return to power of Houmeini and the Islamic Revolution, Iran was an ally of Israel. Btw same goes for Turkey, before Erdoğan became authoritarian.

Iran has dealt Israel a strategic defeat here. It's rewritten the playbook about what is an acceptable retaliation. Iran wouldn't have dared to strike Israel a few years ago with one missile or drone. Now that Israel struck the Iranian embassy in Damascus, which is technically Iranian sovereign soil, Iran was able to respond ferociously, even though the whole attack was choreographed to minimize casualties. The message was clear: "We can now attack you on your own soil, and you will have to accept this new normal when previously you couldn't."
