If you cut them in half put them in your FD while being brought to 150 and give them 30 min tray warm you can skip all the extra work. Rotate the top and bottom trays 10 mins into tray warm. You'll love the results. We sell tons of them and they are perfect bite size and crunchy.
Ah that sounds even better I am definitely going to try it that way next time 👏
Sounds great, I'm going to give it a try.
Hi, how long do you FD them for? 4 hours too? Wondering if I can get them done quicker than 4 hours.
@@danastevens9493 you want to run these for at least 4 hrs. Even if you want to get them done quicker it's 4 hrs. Never rush.
Great tip, I will have to try that. Thank you.
They turned out awesome!
Amazing candy video. I love the puffiness of the Hi-Chews. Thank you for sharing.
Of course, thanks for watching! I was surprised how much they puffed. So good!!
Those turned out amazing! So fun and look delish!
Thanks they were so awesome!!!
A bit of FD’d candy history… Warming the candy in the oven and wrapping the Levi g rack with tin foil was started by the OG HarvestRight Knob Model Users in 2015 because the knob models only had one temp of 125°. 😃💕
Oh awesome thanks for the extra info!!
I love the bonus moose footage :)
Thanks haha the moose was so cute!
I LOVE and appreciate your videos. Thank you for sharing a bit of Alaska. I’m in Texas and wouldn’t know how to live in that much snow 😮😅.
I am currently making sugar free jello mixed with sugar free cool whip-so yummy. I have diabetic family and coworkers and curious if you have other sugar free food or candy options that you have tried.
Oh that sounds sooo good love the jello/cool whip idea! I haven’t tried many sugar free candies - I’ll have to do that in a future video and text some options out and see how they do.
I just tried this with lemon heads and they turned out perfectly!
Oh awesome!! I need to find lemon heads that sounds SO good
Best video I’ve found that actually gives you instructions on how to make them puff up! Thank you 🎉
@@susanerni9652 aw thank you 😊
Can you show us how you do your labels. Do you print yourself and if you do what program and label machine or printer do you use. Thank You
I had stickers printed from the company vista print with my logo, and then I have also used Avery sticker labels you can print on your own computer to put any additional info like ingredients, or in Alaska I’m required to say “not subject to state inspection”
Thank you 😊
@@DIYfreezedry in Alaska do you have to put all ingredients on your product as well?
@@BucktownLady66 as far as I’ve found I just need to state not subject to state inspection - so that’s what I do. I have allergen / ingredient info if anyone requests it. I may be wrong though, but from my research I don’t require ingredient labels under the cottage food law.
I was thinking maybe you could pre-heat the Hi-Chews at 150 degrees in the Freeze Dryer for say 10-15 minutes prior to the cycle & see how they turn out. Your still pre-heating them just at 150 degrees instead of 225 degrees - I always cut my Hi-Chews in half.
He inhaled it!
Haha so funny! Kids….
Per harvest right your not supposed to put the trays in the oven
"Don't make a mess"...
Famous last words 😂😂
Not sure if you are aware but if you put a try in from an oven at 225° into your freeze dryer at 150°, it will void your warranty. Harvest right can run reports that show what the tray temps were. You may want to research.
Thanks for sharing I’ll look into it. I hadn’t heard that and my candy making friends do it a lot. Definitely don’t want to mess with warranty
This is actually endorsed by HR. I just got off the phone with Rich Skaggs, their VP and he said that No, they’ve never voided the warranty for warming your trays. ( He instructed me that it’s okay for me to state this)
Now, You do t want to warm them much above 225° and never in the 300° range or you’ll get the “ Too much heat detected, Turn off machine” error code because your FD’rs sensors think it’s overheating due to a malfunctioning heater relay, when in reality it’s just the heat from the trays.
Hope this clears up this confusion. BTW, I’m Kim Whisner from the groups and Yes, my conversation with Rich Skaggs can be verified.

@@kimmididwhat thanks for sharing all of that information! That helps clear it up. Sounds like there’s different info out there so thanks for that direct information that will help all of us!
Thank you for the info from HR. I was getting ready to send an email asking about.
