Yep. I got back into Electric guitar this year after having to sell my Lucille years ago for financial reasons. First bought a Squire Mustang with 2 humbuckers... love it. And for Christmas this year, I was gifted an Epiphone SG Worn Classic with P90s. It's probably my favorite guitar I've ever played. One of the best feeling ones for sure. Both did so well.

From what I've recently heard. Les made the log and variations of it in the Epiphone factory in the early 40s, and then pitched it to Gibson who didn't want it, then he moved out to California and apparently lived next door to Leo Fender where they talked for hours quite often. Leo wanted Les to make a variation of his guitar, but Les told him that even though he didn't love Gibson that he already told them that he would collaborate with them. So Leo came out with the Esquire since he already made lap steel guitars. So, the Les Paul is the first solid body electric guitar.

A couple of corrections. Orphie and Frixo were not Epi's sons, but his younger brothers. They also didn't get along and so with Epi being the real driving force of the company, when he passed, eventually the company started going downhill and then Orphie sold it off to Gibson. It was in 1940, not the 50's, when Les Paul built his log in the Epiphone factory. Epi gave Les the keys to the factory when it was closed on the weekends so he would have free reign to work, and that was the beginning. BTW, Ted McCarty basically took the idea from the log when he made the ES-335. So in reality, it is not the first semi-hollow, the log is. It is the first as a thinline though.

A facts video about Ibanez would be really cool!

  • @kolchaknightstalker8290

To be fair to the “Play Authentic” video, Agnesi wasn’t slamming Epiphone because they are a Gibson brand. In other videos, he’s gone off about how great Epis are and how they’re the future of Gibson. He talks about how brilliant they are and high quality.
He’s talking about PRS and ESP and Dean guitars, etc. being knock offs. Epiphone is not in those classes of guitar. They are authentic.

Wow, I always thought the Epi part was "from the center" as in Epicenter, Epidemic, etc... The Phone part was pretty obvious...

I wish they would use the Gibson truss rod system. Not crazy about the Allen wrench.

You're a great personality on this channel man! But here's the greatest fact I know about Epiphone guitars : Epi can't get fretwork right to save their lives.

From my understanding, it is because they don’t glue them down. They just tap them in, smooth the edges, and called it a day.

@PMTVUK : Great I love it when someone knows their shit ,, most people who talk about Epiphone know nothing about them , Fact No 9 before closing down in Korea , Epiphone made a limited amount of Guitars at to Korean shop in 04 . No 10 ,,, They saved the US shop twice , I wonder if they will again .

I have an Epi Union Jack Sheraton and 1959 Les Paul. Both have Gibson pickups and CTS pots with vintage wiring. Both sound and play great and also hold their value if you buy the right model. My EJ200 was also pretty nice.

Gibson knew Epiphone manufactured a better product, that’s why they bought Epiphone.
Also, many of the Epiphone models have a neck tenon. I’ve heard that Gibson, with the exception of the custom shop, do not have neck tenons.

    I love Epiphone! I own a few but…
FACT CHECK: the specs are not the same between Gibsons and Epiphones at all that’s why Epis are so cheap. Veneers often used on lower grade mahogany bodies (Les Pauls and SGs mostly) with lower grade pots and Epiphone’s version of Gibson style humbuckers (pro buckers) so no, they’re not the same specs at all
