    I give this young man a ton of credit in a couple ways,
    1) He is trying to help a strange lady he don't know.
    2) He is doing his best to help the horse
    3) Above all he actually fought through his fears! Not many people would jump in to help let alone if they had those kind of fears. This young man did the right thing dispite he fear and didn't walk away just because he was scared! I absolutely admire that young man's courage and spunk!

    There really is nothing better than to introduce someone new to horses and see the amazement light up their faces when they realize just how wonderful the feeling is. The best memory I have of that is putting my boyfriend on my horse and after a teaching him some basics about seat and communication, I took of her rope halter. She is a really relaxed and kind spirit so I had no grounds for any worry. I just left him in the arena with the task to keep her walking. I told him it doesn't matter where. Just that if she stops, to encourage her to move again. He was super excited about it afterwards. I believe it was a great exercise to build trust and form an understanding of how horses move and respond.

  • @Vixterlk
    @Vixterlk Před 6 lety +19

    He's approaching a horse from behind, clicking was probably the best thing he could have done in that situation. He alerted the horse to his presence, and if the horse is of a nervous disposition or is still slightly unsettled from having bolted, it could easily get spooked again or lash out if someone came up from behind it.
    So whilst communication through body language may be preferable, it's not very effective unless the horse actually knows that you're there and is focused on you.

    And I loved when the horse neighed as it saw its owner, so sweet! [If you ignore the Stockholm Syndrome aspects of their relationship.]
    Edit: And thanks for the info about head-bobbing, I didn't know that! The horse's back right leg was hurt, that's the one he was holding up and that's the one his head bobs on.

    I watched the original video and he did so amazing handling his fears! Also horse hear clicking often find it comforting hearing a familiar sound. And it would be nice if you would stop making fun of every little thing he says. He is faced with a scared horse and him facing his fear. Thanks for pointing it out sooooo many times even though the kid says he doesn’t go around farm animals that he doesn’t know about horses. Another thing is when he says “I don’t think I’m afraid of horses anymore” I really don’t understand why you laugh and say “HA yes you are!” He is facing a nice horse and has a nice experience, he is literally over coming his fear. The gentleman handled the horse better than most people who are experts. Proving that it's not knowing you don't know something that's a problem. its thinking you do when you don't that really funks things up.

  • @erinocelotl3578
    @erinocelotl3578 Před 6 lety +25

    Why criticise the man so much? He doesn't know any better, he's doing his best, he conquered his fears and he managed to get the horse to walk with him back to the owner. The horse was scared and maybe he was doing everything wrong, but you know what? He tried, and he did it. He knows very well that the horse doesn't understand English, i think he's doing that mainly to comfort himself, and just hope that it'll will do what he wants, because he doesn't _know_ what he should do. He did very well, considering he knew nothing about them. Also, how do you know if he's scared of horses anymore? You can't decide that for him. He may still be keeping his distance etc, but that's because, again, he knows nothing about them, so being wary isn't the same thing as being afraid. If you knew nothing about horses and was afraid of them, i doubt you would have done any better. Neither would i.
    As for the woman, just because she's wearing pink doesn't automatically make her one of those people who think if they have all the gear they have everything they need. Maybe she just likes that gear. It doesn't make her any more or any less a good rider. Anything can go wrong on a hack or any ride with a horse. Something could spook the horse, or the horse could rear, or something else could have happened that would have made almost any rider lose balance and fall.
    To be honest, i fall quite rarely (i don't know how, i'm not like an expert or anything), but when i do, i cry sometimes. It's not because i'm sad, as i'm not sad at all. i think it's just the shock. Even if you've fallen down a million times, sometimes if you really don't see it coming it can sort of shock you, and i guess it can make you cry. But she could have also been upset because she was worried about the horse! She couldn't see him anymore, she had no idea where he'd gone, i think anyone could cry at that point. It would prove that she cares about the horse.
    I just... i get it, and i agree, when you make videos about people who treat horses terribly and when riders are visibly stupid, and okay, maybe the woman did something stupid for the horse to run away. But the thing is, everyone does stupid things sometimes, and this video is about a woman who lost her horse, and a man who wanted to help and succeeded in so doing, as well as conquering his fears. It's a nice video (aside from the fact that the horse got hurt).
    You can laugh and tell me to F off, and that's fine, i will. You care about horses and want the best for them, but just because you know a lot doesn't mean you can point out EVERYTHING you don't like that they're doing, if they're trying their best and they are actually doing well. I think you are very arrogant with your own knowledge. Just leave them be.

      As far as the girl goes, I could give a hoot about her gear or the color of it, but I have to wonder about someone who invests that much money on all kinds of fancy gear, but they can't shake off the fall and go look for their own horse.
      I suspect she paid someone to train her horse too.

    This kid is beautiful, granted he knows nothing but how often do we get to hear people ADMIT they know nothing, and take direction as best they can from the animal in front of them. Also what a kind and genuine horse!

    The expression this bloke had on his face while leading the horse back was pure gold. He was genuinely happy to have had this experience, I reckon he would make a great horseman. It's kinda sad though that he has never been around any other horses

    At least he understands that horses can be "dangerous" and doesn't just run up to it.

    I think the boy did well. Luckily the horse was very gentle and nice - heck even encouraging. And for a person who never been around a horse the guy did really well. Respectful and concerend and he kinda liked the horse. Also, I think he was mostly talking to horse to calm his nerves. I do that if I'm generally nervous. It's a good thing to do. The boy didn't do anything wrong concidering he can't read the horse at all!!

    You know when the kid stated he was scared of horses and for someone who had never been around horses before and yes he did a few things that may not be the correct way in interacting with horse's. I thought he did fine he was gentle , kind and compassionate and even noticed that the horse was injured under the circumstances he did a good job.

    I personally think that Clicking when you approach a horse is a very good thing. you don't want to surprise a horse in their blind spots so getting their attention is great. while clicking all the time isn't good because it can desensitize them, its a great way to let them know you're there.

    Not to be rude or anything but I do not find you funny...... this is very kind of this young man and I don’t think he should be made fun of. The horse was not scared of the bike( it didn’t even look that direction) and loosing your horse is probably the worst feeling in the world. Therefore crying should be allowed. Just because the rider liked pink doesn’t effect her riding skills. I have pink boots for my horses but that doesn’t make me a bad rider.
