      Same here this old man did too, I have seen tons of videos on this knot and this kid is the only one to show this. Going to practice it now.

      Guess it’s like a plumber soldering copper pipes. You do it for a living you get good at it and don’t put much thought in it

      I've been concerned tying Palomar knot using flourocarbon, much more confident now that I've seen how you do it. Took me a while to get your procedure down but got it after about 40 tries practicing on cheap mono. Thanks Jacob.

    That explains a lot I stopped using it on fluorocarbon because I broke off three fish in one event because I didn't understand there was a correct way of tying it.

    Great tip to flip that small loop to the top before cinching it down! 👍🏼

    i always use fluro always used an improved clinch with lil problems.
    friends talked me into using this knot.
    casted off 2 fluke making long casts.
    I'll try it again using your method 👍

    I tried using a Polamalu knot and it sucks for me on fluorocarbon. Broke of several nice fish. Made sure it was tied right. Just my experience. I actually use a trilene knot and have never had a problem with it in 29 years on any line type.

  • @husskid
    @husskid Před 3 lety

    For mono or fluorocarbon I tie a trilene knot little chance of burning your line and for braid I tie the palomar knot, also on my braid to leader I use a uni to uni seams to hold well and not bad at going through the guides.
    Thanks for the vid I like the note about the loop great to know. . 🎣👍😎

  • @wdchamp2389
    @wdchamp2389 Před 3 lety

    If you draw the over hand down on the bait then pull the tag end tight the loop is always on top.. no need to flip it over..

  • @coosariverfishing2764

    Uni knot is my go to, unless I’m tying a drop shot. Then I will use the palomar so that I can bring my tag end back through the eye of the hook to give a more horizontal presentation in the water. Great video!

    • @zacpearson1878
      @zacpearson1878 Před 3 lety +1

      I’m with ya I use uni for the most part but on jigs and jackhammers I think the palomar just has that second loop through so it’s better for skipping

    Polymer knot is what I tie the most for bass fishing. The other one is a knot I doubt anyone knows about it or uses anymore. I call it the Berkley knot. I use that when I’m crappie fishing.

    I like a san diego jam passed through the eye twice, that way the friction is multiplied through the eye and you dont have to wrap as many times providing a cleaner knot. Its dang strong. Passing through the eye once results n more broke off fish for me

    I've left that knot but will try again. Have not only lost fish, but also a couple of big lipless cranks from heavy casting.
    Will try again using your method of tying.

    What's everyone's opinion on the uni knot? I had the issue his talking about with fluro now I know why it still works on braid so that's the knot I tie. But I recently went to the uni knot on fluro and was wondering if y'all thought it was a good knot to tie.

    I do the regular fisherman’s knot where you wrap it 4 times.

  • @Allthehandlesarealreadytaken

    Would it not be even easier if you snug up the first knot.. Then loop over your lure and then snug that knot up? Hope I'm explaining this right
