I've been concerned tying Palomar knot using flourocarbon, much more confident now that I've seen how you do it. Took me a while to get your procedure down but got it after about 40 tries practicing on cheap mono. Thanks Jacob.
That explains a lot I stopped using it on fluorocarbon because I broke off three fish in one event because I didn't understand there was a correct way of tying it.
My all time go to knot that has never filled me is fisherman's knot really enjoy watching all of your awesome videos very helpful awesome tips and tricks keep up the great work
i always use fluro always used an improved clinch with lil problems. friends talked me into using this knot. casted off 2 fluke making long casts. I'll try it again using your method 👍
I tried using a Polamalu knot and it sucks for me on fluorocarbon. Broke of several nice fish. Made sure it was tied right. Just my experience. I actually use a trilene knot and have never had a problem with it in 29 years on any line type.
For mono or fluorocarbon I tie a trilene knot little chance of burning your line and for braid I tie the palomar knot, also on my braid to leader I use a uni to uni seams to hold well and not bad at going through the guides. Thanks for the vid I like the note about the loop great to know. . 🎣👍😎
Uni knot is my go to, unless I’m tying a drop shot. Then I will use the palomar so that I can bring my tag end back through the eye of the hook to give a more horizontal presentation in the water. Great video!
Polymer knot is what I tie the most for bass fishing. The other one is a knot I doubt anyone knows about it or uses anymore. I call it the Berkley knot. I use that when I’m crappie fishing.
I like a san diego jam passed through the eye twice, that way the friction is multiplied through the eye and you dont have to wrap as many times providing a cleaner knot. Its dang strong. Passing through the eye once results n more broke off fish for me
Haven't seen anyone explain the "loop flip" I've left that knot but will try again. Have not only lost fish, but also a couple of big lipless cranks from heavy casting. Will try again using your method of tying. Thanks man
What's everyone's opinion on the uni knot? I had the issue his talking about with fluro now I know why it still works on braid so that's the knot I tie. But I recently went to the uni knot on fluro and was wondering if y'all thought it was a good knot to tie.
My go to knot has been the uni knot. Definently going to try the Polamar knot out now. What are your thoughts on a uni knot? Can you do a video of how you tie your line on a baitcaster and correctly spool the line?? Would be greatly appreciated
Man thank you !! I’ve wanted to learn this for so long and because of this video I spent an hour Tying and tying and tying over and over again! Nailed it! New favourite knot hands down ! I follow all your videos man love the channel !! Keep it going and best of luck with the rest of the year !!!!
Great explanation, would you do a video on your braid to fluorocarbon knot? There are lots of various knots for that and none are easy to tie or bullet proof.
Great tip! Just curious if you tie this knot for treble hook bait? Or is it a knot that you'll be discussing in the coming weeks? I find myself trying an orvis knot but I know I'm in the minority.
man......this makes me contemplate my entire life's worth of palomar tying
flipping the knot over!! best part of this video. never heard someone talk about that little detail
Old man just learned something. Thanks Kid
Same here this old man did too, I have seen tons of videos on this knot and this kid is the only one to show this. Going to practice it now.
Guess it’s like a plumber soldering copper pipes. You do it for a living you get good at it and don’t put much thought in it

Improved clinch knot is my go to.
And... you're the fastest at tying the Palomar Knot among the boys in the House!! But what about MDJ?
I've fished a lot & didn't know about flipping the knot over for Flourocarbon. Thanks for sharing this.
Palomar knot I’ve been using it for yrs. even on braid
My favorite knot, thanks for the loop flip explanation. It'll make my knot easier to tie.
I've tied this wrong for years.. never knew to flip the loop.. great video!
Good info and QA’ing the Pal. knot✨😇✨
That explains a lot I stopped using it on fluorocarbon because I broke off three fish in one event because I didn't understand there was a correct way of tying it.
Great tip to flip that small loop to the top before cinching it down! 👍🏼
Great little tip to flip that small loop before cinching it down. Keep it “on top” before cinching. Thanks!
My all time go to knot that has never filled me is fisherman's knot really enjoy watching all of your awesome videos very helpful awesome tips and tricks keep up the great work
DING - my favorite knot too!!!!

Thanks for the vid I like the note about the loop great to know. . 🎣👍😎
If you draw the over hand down on the bait then pull the tag end tight the loop is always on top.. no need to flip it over..
Dbl palimore on braid best knot ever. Extra wrap gold
Improved clinch knot. A very good knot...
Never saw the tip about flipping the loop. I knew you would bring the goods
Uni knot is my go to, unless I’m tying a drop shot. Then I will use the palomar so that I can bring my tag end back through the eye of the hook to give a more horizontal presentation in the water. Great video!
I’m with ya I use uni for the most part but on jigs and jackhammers I think the palomar just has that second loop through so it’s better for skipping
Today was the first time that I learned this tip. Thanks
I use that knot always
Polymer knot is what I tie the most for bass fishing. The other one is a knot I doubt anyone knows about it or uses anymore. I call it the Berkley knot. I use that when I’m crappie fishing.
Good job Jacob everybody can always use a refresher.😎
If it's good enough for Jacob Wheeler "The #1 Angler in the world" then it's good enough for me.
I like a san diego jam passed through the eye twice, that way the friction is multiplied through the eye and you dont have to wrap as many times providing a cleaner knot. Its dang strong. Passing through the eye once results n more broke off fish for me
Flipping the knot. My problem tying this awesome knot. Thank you.
I’ve learned from my gpa the “wrong way” I’ve never broken but I’m not gonna trust a jackhammer with the wrong way😂 great vid💪🏼
One of my favorite knots
Haven't seen anyone explain the "loop flip"
I've left that knot but will try again. Have not only lost fish, but also a couple of big lipless cranks from heavy casting.
Will try again using your method of tying.
Thanks man
Awesome tip!!!!!👍
Palomar knot thanks jdub
I for real use the palomar exclusively. Sure it can waste some line, but well worth it when done right, including fluoro.
What's everyone's opinion on the uni knot? I had the issue his talking about with fluro now I know why it still works on braid so that's the knot I tie. But I recently went to the uni knot on fluro and was wondering if y'all thought it was a good knot to tie.
You have magical fingers for sure
My go to knot!
Thanks Jacob, have been tying this for years and did not know this!!!!
Thanks JDUBB. DINGERS

Wow thanks for the tip. Love the videos Jacob
Doubled Uni Knott
Thank you, I now know you listen.
I do the regular fisherman’s knot where you wrap it 4 times.
Would it not be even easier if you snug up the first knot.. Then loop over your lure and then snug that knot up? Hope I'm explaining this right
never used a palomar i normally use a uni or improved clinch, i think ill add this one in the mix.
Man thank you !! I’ve wanted to learn this for so long and because of this video I spent an hour Tying and tying and tying over and over again! Nailed it! New favourite knot hands down ! I follow all your videos man love the channel !! Keep it going and best of luck with the rest of the year !!!!
Good stuff Wheeler! 🎣 👊🏼💯🇺🇸
Thanks for the tips my friend!
Great video! Can’t wait to see your flipping knot!
Great explanation, would you do a video on your braid to fluorocarbon knot? There are lots of various knots for that and none are easy to tie or bullet proof.
Already new the key to this knot. But maybe need to use a different background to the demo other than black.
Uni for me
Good to know thanks! 👍
I prefer Uni Knot for braid and fluoro, you cannot tie it wrong
Just saw you driving down i75 this am near Atlanta! Catch them up man!!!!
I've been doing it wrong this whole time 🤦🏻♂️
Great tip! Just curious if you tie this knot for treble hook bait? Or is it a knot that you'll be discussing in the coming weeks? I find myself trying an orvis knot but I know I'm in the minority.
Love you man great vid
i just use the uni knot. havent had it break once.
Awesomeness!!
I wanna see the double shindo traffic jam knot. Yo, when we gonna see some "glidin dirty" again?!!!
