    On these GM 10 bolt C lock axle , is there movement slight movement in and out on the hub , I'm rebuilding a Camaro in the UK , most people over here no nothing about them so I'm stuck for info , the hub does not move left or right up or down but , you can feel slight movement on the hubs in and out , Question is that right for one of these Axles .

    Have this Ford 8.8 axle in my TJ jeep and trying to turn my gears to get to the bolt and pin, axles move freely but while I put the 46RE transmission in neutral, I still can’t turn the driveshaft or gears? I’m tempted while on jacks to fire it up and put it in neutral while running? Or even putting transfer case in neutral. I just didn’t want a small disaster to happen lol

The rest of these, it seems as though, are done by dealerships, which are trying to scare you and all. All I needed to know was how to get the worst pin out., big joke!!

      The only way that's possible would be if the axle shaft itself actually broke in 2. You're probably seeing the press- on bearing types, that have a collar bolted to the axle tube.on that kind if the bearing goes out, the axle, drum/rotor, and tire as a unit can slide out of the side gear.

    • @NeverEnoughPyro40
      @NeverEnoughPyro40 Před 2 lety

      @@frankpaya690 Actually you were totally confused and have it backwards! If a C clip axle brakes your axle will slide right out along with your brakes and wheel! That is the exact reason why race cars have to install a C clip eliminator kit, So if your axle snaps the other half of the axle does not come sliding out along with your brakes and wheel! If you actually knew how these rears functioned you would know that you cannot lose a wheel on the other style because it is held in place by a plate which is sandwiched all the way on the outside of the axle with a steel collar! So how can a bad bearing cause a vehicle to lose its axle, brakes, or even wheel? I have no idea where you got your information but you have definitely been misinformed! Think about it the only thing that is holding the axle, rotor or drum and tire in the axle tube is one small little C clip! Just google C-clip eliminator kits, It will explain everything you need to know, This way you don’t have to continue miss informing people!

    • @frankpaya690
      @frankpaya690 Před 2 lety

      @@NeverEnoughPyro40 if you lose the axle you're going to lose the "wheel' because the wheel's bolted to the axle.
      the collar you're talking about is much smaller than the outside diameter of the bearing which if the bearing falls apart- cage and all,
      there's nothing to stop it from sliding out past the plate that's bolted to the axle tube. with semi floating axles, it engages with the side gear, the plate bolted to the axle tube in four places, with the bearing on the axle shaft holding it in place, if the bearing fails there's nothing to hold it in place.
      I've had it happen.
      You need to do more research, instead of showing how little you know.
      you come across as someone who hasn't turned wrenches but has heard of a lot of things and watched a lot of videos, but doesn't understand structurally how things are put together.

  • @missioncommunications3225

    How come none of these videos on CZcams ever show the removal of the driver's side axel? I need to replace bearings on the driver's side axel and I have no idea if there is any additional work involved in getting the driver's side axel to come out. I'd like to know before I start taking things apart.

    • @frankpaya690
      @frankpaya690 Před 4 lety +2

      I know you posted 5 months ago, but just in case you haven't done this job yet, there isn't anything special about getting the driver side out, from removing the passenger side.

    • @tahoeoverland7712
      @tahoeoverland7712 Před 7 lety +5

      C lock or C-clip as others refer to them, is actually being held in by the spider gear because it sits inside it. The pin he took out doesnt allow the axle to move inwards, thus keeping the c-clip/c-lock in place. Hope that makes sense!

    • @NeverEnoughPyro40
      @NeverEnoughPyro40 Před 2 lety +1

      Most likely the reason you can’t push your axles in to release the C- clip is because your axle is hitting your ABS sensor! On Chevys you have to remove the ABS sensors from the backing plate before you can push the axles in! I know this response is late but I’m sure there are plenty of other people who are having the same issue! This is a cut and dry job and if your having a hard time it is most likely because you have overlooked something really simple!
