    The alchemy system makes no sense in witcher 3. You can hoard all of the herbs and ingredients, but you use them rarely and have an unlimited number of potions and oils. It is completely unrealistic, but more importantly, it makes a player lazy, forgetting how important the environment is for a witcher.
    The system with meditation to refill or make a new potion should stay. Also, it should not be possible to apply oil or potion during combat, but no meditation should be needed. Just that Geralt should not be able to fight and do three other different things. It is distracting and breaks the immersion.

  • @Practitioner_of_Diogenes
    @Practitioner_of_Diogenes Před rokem +30

    I feel the fireplace thing should be like this: To make *new* potions (as in, it's the first time you've made it) and upgrading those potions, a fireplace is required. Refilling them shouldn't. I'm expecting refilling potions to be back, so it won't require freshly brewed potions every time.

    I’d rather they develop a better combat system than Witcher 3, since I know they won’t return to Witcher 1’s design (which I prefer). What I like about Witcher 1 is it more appropriately facilitates the role playing experience of being a Witcher through combat than the other games. It’s near 1:1 with how it is described in the books and felt incredibly immersive when placed against RPGs both of its era and even before and after. Thanks for your thoughts George.

    Witcher 1 and 2 should be remade in the W3 engine and should be incorporated into W3 for an ultimate Geralt experience. Profits should be used to start a charity fund to fight illiteracy among Netflix script writers and to buy Lauren Hissrich a small island with no Internet, so she won't hurt another classic piece of fantasy literature again.

    I think everything should be kept the same with some additions: areas, especially the Vizima Outskirts felt gutted of content so I think adding more sidequests and areas to explore would be great. I did almost everything I could in the original game but felt I could have levelled up more. I also would like more dialogue and side lore with minor characters. In general, all the scenes should have more NPCs especially in the town quarters and the battle scenes to make it more immersive. All that with the improved graphics and you would have a true remaster.

  • @noctoi

    I like the idea of a Larian style "long rest" and "short rest". For small healing and single potions/potions you already know do a 'short rest' out in the world and you get a limited number through the day. For a new research for potions/other crafting/full heal and renew of abilities/personal quest progression with NPC's etc. have a 'long rest' at a camp or inn. Obviously this concept won't translate exactly because of the nature of the Witcher games compared to say DOS2/BG3, but the concept could be modified to work really well while allowing maximum choice and options for players.

  • @slingshotwaffles

    I think I said this on the last video, Witcher 3 style combat but with the different stances. Also just about the campfire stuff, I didn’t think it was that big of a hassle in W1 cause it’s nowhere near as vast and open as W3 was. I was grateful for the meditate anywhere in W3 cause it was this giant open world, but W1 isn’t so the campfire system was fine for me. I’ll be fine either way though, campfires or meditate anywhere. The big thing really is just the combat, cause W1 combat was not good. Outside of the few dedicated fanboys, I have not met a person in the general gaming population who liked the gameplay of W1. So even if it just was W3 gameplay put into W1 story, I think that would be way more appealing to a general population than W1 with a facelift and some qol changes. While people may not be super into W3 combat, it’s generally not hated, and certainly more enjoyable than what W1 had. That then does raise a question, who is the audience? Do they want the general gaming population (who probably played at least a little of W3) to buy the game, or is this for the specific Witcher super fans? Either way, W3 has a lot more fans than W1 does…

    Witcher 1 doesn’t need a remake. A remaster would be more than enough. Upgrade the mechanics that can be upgraded, improve the visuals, maybe re-arrange the soundtrack, change the UI, and call it a day and focus on new games.

      Nah soundtrack is non-negotiable. That music is too perfect lol Reality being faced is the remake will be made to appeal to Witcher 3 fans as much as possible. It will probably be entertaining but those who were first introduced to Witcher games with the first and loved it like me will probably not be satisfied. Age old grumpy gamer dilemma. I will probably not enjoy the mechanics of the remake, I just hope the story is well conveyed as I enjoy it the most of the trilogy.

      @@ronaldood4678 I agree, that’s why I’d go with just re-arranging the soundtrack, and include the option to have the original one.
      There’s no way they can re-create what they did with W1. Nowadays games feel like just products created to make profit. W1 is more like a passion project, or a love letter to Sapkowski’s novels. I think W1 is CDPR’s most important game, re-making it just feels wrong and like a cash grab, which it to a large degree probably is.

    I need the romances to be GOOD like The Witcher 3. I love the huge amount of "romances" in Witcher 1, but most of them were cringe and un-sexy. I want the same amount of romance opportunities but with actual good writing and characterization, instead of dialogues that sounds like it came from a bad p**n.
    I need Geralt to be as charming and suave as he is in Witcher 3, where it was believable that women would be attracted to him easily. Witcher 1 Geralt was not charming at all and his pick up lines were cringey/creepy.

    @MrEffectfilms Před rokem

    So here's my thoughts on it all:
    Firstly I agree that the best approach to combat would be to have a new combat system that incorporates the best of all three games. The multiple stances of TW1, the difficulty and brutality of TW2, and the smoothness and comfortability of TW3, I imagine this would be something similar to the combat system in game's like Ghost of Tsushima, Jedi Survivor, or the new God of Wars.
    As for compatibility with TW2 I think the best solution here is to do a Next Gen update version of that game just like with TW3, available on all platforms. Not only would this be first time players could play TW2 on playstation and even import saves to TW3 but this would allow them to better prepare for any choices the player will make in TW1 Remake and make sure they're accounted for.
    Finally addressing things like imported items like the Raven Armor can be accounted for too. Just have the Raven Armor function as one of the best armors for the early game of TW2 and 3, until about halfway through Flotsam (or Velen for TW3), but also have those armor's be craftable. This way if you're starting a fresh save you can still use them but now you have to work for them but if you import them from TW1 you don't have to work for them because you already did.

    I don't think that simply making The Witcher 1 in the style of The Witcher 3 would be exactly the ideal route. The first game has a strong identity of its own and I think some diversity between the games should be maintained, although I'd definitely want the game ot be modernized, since many of its aspects aged like milk. Maybe it could be handled in a similar way to the Mafia remake - add a separate "classic" difficulty setting, which gives you an experience closer to the original, while keeping other quality of life improvements provided by the remake like an updated combat system and so on.

  • @vojta777990
    @vojta777990 Před rokem

    I’m not sure if I’m alone in this but I feel like many people tend to oversee that the quest structure of the W1 is also a bit clunky. I replayed the W1 about a year ago and idk. When I played it as a kid (in like 2013, because the W1 wasn’t even my first witcher game) I didn’t mind it but returning to it now it really felt like more than half of the main story was pretty much fetch quests, go there, talk to that person and get an item from him, he won’t give it to you for free so you go fetch for him something else, on location you kill few monsters, get the item and repeat (A Posh Reception comes to mind epecially). I think it would also be nice to change this a little bit because I feel like many people who have only played the W3 would be really disappointed with the remake if the quests stayed the same.
    Also the after reading the books you can’t unsee how the story is all over the place and in context of the witcher world doesn’t make much sense. CDPR tried to implement so many things from the books into the game but I feel like it didn’t work that well and I don’t even know where to start with that. The wild hunt, Alvin basically being Ciri, Lady of the Lake and the fisher king, Adda I guess made kind of sense, fighting the white frost (just like in W3 where it also makes no sense), I understand the motivation Jacques had (and yeah I think that his “true identity” was pretty cool) but didn’t like the execution and many more. You can tell it was their first game.
    The campfires idk din’t find them to be that tedious so I guess I don’t mind either if they stay or get removed. But the combat system is an absolute shitfest. The only thing I find good about it are the stances otherwise it’s trash in my oppinion. rember coming to W1 for the firts time after playing the 2nd game and being like “what the fuck is this? It’s shit” so yeah… maybe keep the stances but scrap everything else.
    Damn maybe it looks like I didn’t like the game but I really do I think it had an absolutely unique atmosphere which I hope they’ll recreate in the remake, it’s just looking at the game now it feels very outdated in almost every aspect. Wish them luck cause I’m even more excited for the remake than the W4

    Having played the Witcher 1 recently without any nostalgia, you're 100% correct that people that think that the old gameplay style is somehow better than Witcher 3's gameplay style when it comes to combat have to be wrong. It's clunky, unnecessarily slow and extremely static because you choose your stance and stick to it depending on what enemy you face.
    I don't even like Witcher 3 that much, I think it has a lot of issues that plague many open world-esque games that I personally just can't deal with, but in terms of combat it's a lot better than the first game by a long stretch

    Meditiations - Don't really know why anyone would want this in a remake. Never missed it once I started witcher 3 after 1/2. Honestly, I feel like such a system has more drawbacks than merits, like how it cuts the momentum of the game and can hence break immersion rather than strengthen it. A cutscene before a contract fight is both more "immersive" and far less tedious.
    Stances - The witcher 3 has stances, they're called whirl and rend. It's obviously a much more fluid and elegant system and can be expanded upon in the remake.

    Witcher 1 is for me the most atmospheric of the 3, and i'd rather they don't remake it at all... The worst they could do is just make witcher 1 in witcher 3...

      No lol. Only Witcher 1 needs remake. There's NO reason for Witcher 2 to receive a remake, let alone Witcher 3 lmfao.

    Why i felt like i was playing a zelda ocarina of time game while playing this one 😂 still 8/10, 8 because the combat is buggy and the walk is way to far and way to slow

    Honestly, as long as they don't have the same combat system as the original, I am good. That combat was horrendous, that's the only reason why I never played the game 😅

      I don't think that will happen. They saw what happened with the abomination of the Netflix show and wouldn't dare.

    Personally I want a Netflix remake of the game where triss is played by Lizzo , Michelle Yeoh plays Yennefer and there’s absolutely no structure to the plot or character development. IGN 10/10

    Triss and geralt should be black and trans in the remake it's 2023

    The story requires changes, it imitates the books so much at times it feels more like plagiarism than a continuation. It is not until The Witcher 2 AoK they really came into their own in storytelling. And considering how few story points from 2 got continued in 3, I would not count on the save import being maintained.

    Bruh...its gonna be witcher 1 skin on witcher 3...they're not gonna go back to those old ass archaic game mechanics...its gonna be witcher 3s engine...its gameplay mechanics its graphics just retelling an updated witcher 1 story...if anything they'll try to improve on anything they think they can from the witcher 3s mechanics but that's it...if anyone actually thought the witcher one remake was gonna retain any of it's original gameplay mechanics...boy....you crazy...witcher one isnt a good game...so they're taking witcher 3 and putting a witcher one story and setting skin over it...they don't even have to bother making a lot of character models from scratch...dandelion zoltan triss lambert eskel vesemir shani...already good to go straight from witcher 3...think of the witcher one remake as an even larger expansion than blood and wine retelling the story of witcher one...I'll be damn surprised if that's not what it is

    It's a remake not a remaster 🙃. It will literally chance everything of your points.
