    it'd be interesting for you to do a video on what you think your consistent climbing has done for your over all fitness and how you manage it to stay in mountaineering shape in between hikes.

    After tagging Grays and Torreys last fall, I was having a snack in my vehicle at what I thought was the lower TH when a guy walked up to let me know I was parked on private property. I apologized, as what I read online seemed to suggest that the entire dirt area off the road was OK to park (I'm talking about the dirt area around the old brick building and chimney remnants at the base of the road to the upper trailhead). He said that area is entirely privately owned except for the paved parking spots that bikers use. Was a surprise to me and the guy was nice enough (I think he got it that I sincerely would not have parked on private property had it been posted or had I known). Just an FYI for future hikers, the lower TH is WAY smaller than you read online (unless this guy was lying which I sincerely believe he was not). Maybe he just mentioned it to me because I was in a van and he thought I was planning on camping, but FYI.

      Good to know, I know the road is becoming very sensitive with new landowners and houses going up but never realized the I70 TH had private land there too.

      Yeah, the north facing stuff was depressingly low. Hope this new storm helped a bit with water - but I am sure this line is still not in.

    was it closed closed or just need a good suv ?

    • @TheVirtualSherpa
      @TheVirtualSherpa  Před rokem

      Even with a "good SUV" the snow levels are too high to get up much past the road split usually. The worst thing that people do is drive in the morning when the snow is crisp and then get stuck there in the afternoon when the snow softens up - sometimes for days/weeks on end and blocking other future drivers from getting up the road.

      I tell myself this every time I start post holing - but to be fair - the skiers ahead of me had the same problems, the snow was just so rotten.

    Grays/Torreys doesn’t count unless you hike from the lower TH :)

    • @Coolhansolo
      @Coolhansolo Před rokem

      Well no hike from Colfax Avenue than your legit. Lower is cheating too. And if your ever on Mt. EVEREST start it from the ocean that's legit too.
