Here in Nebraska hiking a 14 footer takes a little pre-hike prep: can I hike up this farmers hill or will I get shot or charged by a bull 🐂?

Thanks for sharing this hike. It's one of my favorites I've ever done, and I didn't even make it to the end. I attempted to do it a year ago in March, but only made it slightly past where you shot the footage of the rope before the gate (ran out of time, ambition, etc.). Just out of curiosity, do you remember how far it was between those two points? My GPS recorder started going wacky as I got close to the steep canyon walls, so I'm not even sure how much farther I had to go. :(

I have worked on CDTC/CDT/CT trail building teams building and maintaining trails. I know now how to wield a Pulaski above and below treeline. What we worked on mainly was building trails to build bridges and ensure snow melt and rain would runoff the trail so the trails so they don't get washed out. Would like to perform similar role with CFI. Thanks.

Hey thanks for the awesome video. Do you know of any long steep snow climbs like this that are in the Collegiate Peaks? Really anything close to Colorado Springs.

I got chased off Uncompahgre 3 times by weather before I was able to summit. My favorite peak in all of Colorado!

Good to make this into a loop with Mount Passaconway, which you can see in the middle of the screen at 7:40. Bonus of not having to descend the Class 3 scramble or Blueberry Ledges too!

I dig your hiking vids bro and glad you made it back to HI again. Love Kauai but Oahu (where I live) has the best hikes in HI. I recommend doing as much of Koolau Summit Trail as you can if you ever visit.

Thanks for the video! My son and I are going to attempt this in a few weeks (weather permitting). Experienced backpackers and day hikers. We're looking forward to the challenge and the reward at the end.

I climbed this one when I was 18 yrs old ('72). My most vivid memory was the group of us at the peak sharing Catawba Pink and subs. Then the hike down...my knees still hurt.:)

I remember you and I finished the 14ers around the same time in 2019. My best friend and closest human, Sarah, died on Capitol peak sept 3 2022, 3 months after my mom died of a sudden brain aneurism. I was supposed to be with her on her finisher but left a week early for Italy. I read about her falling hundreds of feet on a news article that popped up on mh phone in Florence. Then I talked to a guide that was behind her that saw it happen. I went in to the lake to get her tent and gear because mtn rescue couldn't find it. I got her into the mtns and felt responsible, it destroyed me. I didn't leave my room or talk to anyone for weeks. I was carelessly messing around kelso by myself last summer and purposely going off route for 5.8-10 pitches. Slipped on a hold and fell around 20 feet. Just didn't care anymore. Was bleeding from my head, legs , and hands like crazy but I went back down and made it to st anthony er. Made a full recovery. But my fall knocked me back into a state of focus again and a will to live that I am very grateful for. Those were the darkest days of my life and I am so sorry for loss. I know how bad it can get. I'm glad we both have the mountains for our soul. Sometimes they humble us, sometimes they heal. Jason Graves?

How do you prepare for a hike like this?

Okay, we stopped about a minute in. Here's the deal: no one wants to bootlick these so-called owners. You can't only land any more than you can own the sky or air or water sources. Lol. So if you want to pretend that you can own it, you are going to suffer the natural consequences. The natural consequences are that everyone thinks you are a joke. And so much more is coming down the pike for those who labor under the aforementioned delusion. This ^ has been the voice of reason in the form of an anarchist education. And no, anarchists are not leftist or socialist. These so-called owners of this mountain along with their government buddies are. When we glint upon the abject misery and internal despondence of the glorified frat boys of the world and their little lackeys... well, we almost feel sorry for them. Lol. You have been educated for free. You're welcome. :)

Nice video! I live on Kauai this was one of my first hikes when I moved here. The ocean on this beach tried to eat me so yes do not swim in this water at this particular beach. It has a severe drop off slope of sand that sucks you in and spits you out just long enough to suck you back down. I agree tho that it’s one of the best hikes on kauai.

have you ever considered any of the famous scrambles in the Wasatch? (Devil’ castle, mount olympus, Superior/Monte Cristo, Sundial Peak, Twin Peaks, Pfeifferhorn, Lone Peak)?

You are way off on Quandary. I have been on that east ridge route many times. It has very similar stats as all your peaks on the easiest tier. I don't understand the "straight up" characterization. It's slightly easier than Grays and Torreys.
