  • Revisiting a classic in New Hampshire with Jackie and Aria. Unfortunately the weather didn't play nice for us but it was a fun day in the mountains nonetheless! Filmed in July, 9.3 miles with 3700ft of elevation gain.

Having done the Franconia Ridge trail in both directions, in several different weather conditions, I can say that it is one of my favorite hikes in the Whites.

My buddy and I did this one a few days ago, got similar bad luck as you guys except we got caught in some gnarly rain at the summit, didn’t let up the whole way down 😅 Great hike though!

I looked back to 2018 (last time I did this) and had the EXACT same weather. Think it’s just the notch bringing in those clouds 24/7. I remember growing up, every time we’d drive through it, there seemed to be snow, even when 5 minutes south or north it was dry.

Born and raised in Franconia. The Loop will forever be my favorite hike. A couple of things: pets on a hike like this are not a good idea and wear hiking boots. It does not matter if you are going on an hour-long walk or a 10-mile hike, ankle support is crucial, and pack like you are going to be gone for 3 days. Just food for thought.

Every time I've been to New Hampshire, Amherst area mainly, it's just clouds and rain the entire time. This Colorado native is always shocked at the weather in New England and the amount of rain😅😅

Its very touch and go in the summer and we seem to always get lots of rain when we are there. Its like Monsoon season but all summer.

      It's better in the winter.

It didn't used to rain here so much. You always expect a shower or two in the mountains, but the last 6/8 years lots of rain starting in May continuing through the summer. And hot! More 90 degree days than I can remember. (I'm 69) Kind of a drag, but the outdoor activities are great if you prepare well.

FYI... Little Haystack doesn't qualify as a 4000 Footer.
