Seen them live in Manchester 24th Nov 2017, Sam T Herring is the most mesmerising performer I have seen in many a year, songs & tunes are awesome too. Absolute brilliant live band.
Fantastic performance which was the highlight of the show for me by far. It simply knocked my boots off. As someone else has observed elsewhere there are great similarities between this man's voice and The Fine Young Cannibals singer- but at an octave lower. This comment is made in that I view them both as great powerful performers. My summary is "WOW".
"I wanted you to know I was thinking about you" veut dire "Je voudrais que tu saches que j'étais en train de penser à toi" et le refrain "A long way from home" veut dire "très loin de chez nous". Quand il se tape la poitrine il est en train de demander "How did we get here?" - "Comment est-on arrivé ici?".
First saw them on the Hootenanny and I was captivated, I've listened to some of their music on CD since and not a massive fan but I've watched a load of live stuff on CZcams and I love them!
I saw them on the Hootenanny and was mesmerised. Been looking for this ever since, thanks for sharing!! Tender, tragic, intense and also strangely amusing. How many singers could get that all into one song?
really wanted to see this again. Thanks for posting, so emotive. true passion in their music. One of the many reasons hootenanny is my new year every year. hozier's version of domino too, let alone the amazing Rhiannon Giddens. I love this show.
Saw them last night at Brixton Academy 21/11/2017 they were only three handed and were Bang Bang on and their support band were very very good as well a two drummer band called Zack Mexico playing Psychedelic pop indie stuff, Saw Future Islands first on the great Jools Holland show waited a long time to see them live really worth the wait *****
This is completely irrelevant but: FUN FACT! - the Hootenanny is actually not broadcasted live. It's pre-recorded, countdown and all, in like October or something.
how and the hell could anybody get into this, what do you want them to do anyhow, Its isn't like the song has a driving rhythm section, I could sleep to this crap.
He fucking means it.
He told the story, and I believe him.
i know, right? the only other singer i know of you can do that is adam duritz from counting crows
man i love how the singer just lays it all out and the bass player is just chill as fuck
Your comment was sexy as all get out.
Aaron Thorfinnson o
Only found this band a week ago, brightening my "Coronavirus" isolation time up. 👍
The exact msg I was about to write; Future Islands helping us through! Stay safe out there! 👊
Omicron has entered the chat 🤣

Hooked! Great tune! and what a performer. Passionate man!
If I was there I'd be probably be thrown out for dancing on the tables at this stage. I F**king love them 😎
Future Islands is great. Samuel Herring is awesome.

neil03152 he's more like 10 octaves lower than the guy from Fine Young Cannibals.
neil03152 yeah I agree he sounds like Sidney Youngblood
Obsessed with this performance. His little dance when the drums kick in😍

+River Saldono Well sorry it's not your cup of tea but no need to slag it off, if you don't like it why comment?
Henri Plumb Well truthfully ,Im almost repulsed by this so called musical style. I Guess that's the reason its really quite comical
Talk about a pick me up fxcking love this 😎
Reminds me of Bowie. He even sings with a slight English accent. Love it though.
baker man is baking bread
💎💎💎💎💎💎💎

Keith Lemon on bass I see 👀
Sam Herring's vocals remind me of Till Lindemann from Rammstein mixed with Bowie. Lol idk
Sounds like ramstein
Hugh who?
czcams.com/video/o3fcLK8YbKY/video.html {3.32} : Looks like Mick Jagger squeezing a fart out.
god damn... 2:28 through 3:17 is lyrically, combined with his pantomiming + unblinking look into the camera, some real heavy shit.
Zombie audience. Future Islands rock.
Bass player looks like Sam Kinison, but screams a bit less.
Playing bass with piles is never pleasant
Has he got diarrhoea or something?! Whats with all the lunging?! XD
+matthewperkins81 calm down jeez it was a joke
ikr 😄😄😄
Takes away from their show when the crowd's energy isn't vibrant.
dude, stop changing drummer its annoying .
