I want to thank you man, ive tried all kinds of strats and nothing worked for me and i decided to run the same Paradigms you have and they work so much better, i switched through the different shifts just as you did and i couldnt be happier at how easy it was to destroy the Protoflorian. I remember all the way back when i did this boss fight, i got 0 stars cos i was like 20 mins over the target time :p i was onw ar and peace most of the time cos i had no strat
Looking back on this game, I now realized a basic requirement that I did not know back then which caused me more trouble than I should have had at the time. You really, really, should have about 600-700 HP. on your characters. Forget beating Aster Protoflorian with five stars, it'll be nearly impossible to beat the boss at all with anything less even with an impeccably performed strategy. I think my Hope and Lightning had only about 400-500 HP at the time, and Efflorescence just wrecked me every single time, taking at least half (and usually more) the HP away. There were other problems I had. Before this battle, using a Fortisol is almost mandatory. You also have to be comfortable cancelling your attacks, because while Aster Protoflorian has "tells," you don't get much time to implement the next phase in strategy. But worst of all is that you have to "level up." As linear as the game is, doing so is counter-intuitive.

I remembered I popped my first hard boss cherry from the underwater Al Bhed machina that kidnaps Yuna in FFX it took me long to realize I needed to upgrade my characters..
Hey, i just wanted to give thanks for you making this video, since most final fantasy fans are having trouble on this boss. Although myself was wounder. Could you still win by contunously using slash and burn, while using potions to heal? Im just woundering. Bcause myself got stuck on this picticular boss.
What if I only have Slash & Burn, Dualcasting, SuperSoldier, and Ying & Yang? And Hope doesn't have much equip, and I (Lightning) am the main healer? And what if I have no shrouds? I keep dying within seconds after the fight begins... should I go back and try to defeat more (weaker) opponents and level up and then come back to Aster Protoflorian? ... someone please help :(
i have my Final Fantasy XII saved at that very spot in the game where i have to fight that annoying Protoflorian. I dunno if im underleveled or whatever but the the boss keeps killing me every time. last time i played that part of the game was back in December 2021
Just beat chapter 5 of final fantasy 13: Using the following Paradigm configuration for hope & lightning level 7 sabre and level 6 airwing applying that fortisol for faster attacks: Commando / Ravager Commando / Medic Commando / Synergist Medic / Medic SUMMONED ODIN FOR THE WIN!! Aster protoflorian is defeated and if you haven't played final fantasy 13 he's this bulbasaur esque boss you encounter nearing the end of gapra whitewood and he'll give you the fight of your life. this boss has plagued me since 2010 PLAGUE ME NO LONGER MOFO U MAD!!
I started following this but I had more success just using Com/Rav and Com/Med until it staggered. Then use Rav/Rav and hammer auto battle. I had to revive Hope but it beat the boss in a couple of minutes.
im still trying to beat this creature about 33times and ff13 sucks now cause u'r characters stats don't go up and neither do's u'r character as there's no level system which makes this game nowhere near being a final fantasy game so yh like sorry guys
