Give Zack Dettmore a GIANT welcome! He is our 3rd brand new weekly video contributor on The Build Show Network and we are SO EXCITED to have his knowledge onboard!!
Zack had an interest in construction starting at age 8. He was homeschooled, which allowed him to pursue his passion from a young age. Zachary started working for a local contractor (Anything Construction) at age 13. He was tasked first with sweeping floors and quickly worked his way up to sweeping ceilings. After doing everything from drop ceilings in Manhattan skyscrapers, to exterior painting on historic homes in New Jersey, Zack purchased his first house. It was a horrible old house that showed him just how bad a renovation can go when it's done poorly. Zack started www.dettmore.com/ with the hope of making an uncompromising company that puts craftsmanship first and tools second!

Matt, have u ever considered a dedicated app for build show network? A lot of the casual- non industry- “professional homeowners”- who watch ur content for part enjoyment and general knowledge on YT would prefer IMO accessing it via an app on their phone that can serve it up w notifications just like youtube. If u incorporate your sponsors/ads into the app you should maintain the same revenue that u get thru the website. Just my two cents

I built an app for my real estate appraisal company and I can say apps are extremely expensive and intensive to keep up with the iOS and Android store guidelines which change and update. On top of that you need to service devices of all sizes on both ecosystems which sounds fine at first but it's a big burden even just sticking within iOS. That is just code side, not front end side which includes design. For a media streaming app to run on iOS and Android from the ground up you're looking at easily $100k starting price here in NYC. Building a web app is way cheaper and easier but not everyone knows you can install websites to your phone like a shortcut but it has some native app properties. There's always tradeoffs. Plus with a dedicated app if build show decides to sell subscriptions or have in app purchases, the stores take a big cut of that.

Matt in the past strictly posted the Build Show Network videos on his website and a bunch of people complained that they weren’t on CZcams. It’s tough but the YT community doesn’t stray far from the YT app. I think Matthias Wandel has a good model. He posts his videos on YT, and then his website has a more detailed write up about the video and he sells plans there as well.

New video every week? I don't think so, since there hasn't been a new video in 2 months.
