In my experience the kids and coaches are wonderful but the moms are horrendous.

they're not entertainers. maybe you'd consider the ice dancers and figure skaters entertainers/performers but the bottom line is that they're all athletes. it's not their job to perform for people and look their best. their job is to show everyone the results of their hard training and DO their best.

Professional sports and olympics are about the competetors and what they've achieved physically in their activity. No one should give a damn what they look like in the act of doing something amazing while they're sitting on their ass in front of the TV judging their appearance.

I'm a bit frustrated by some of the comments on this video. Yeah, these aren't big problems but they aren't saying, THIS IS A MASSIVE PROBLEM IN THE WORLD MY LIFE IS SO HARD, they're just talking about little frustrating things they are tired of hearing. I doubt they see these things as something they expect people to stop doing now, they're just saying they're annoying.

I'm not so sure they do realize how small these problems are to be honest. You're just assuming they do. We can't know for sure how big or small they think the problems are, but the problems they were able to come up with ended up quite underwhelming and leaving something to be desired.

I like the Winter Olympics better then the summer olympics. I find more interest in watching figure skating, skiing, and snowboarding then watching swimming, volleyball (and other ball sports) although I do enjoy watching gymnastics since I do competitive cheerleading.

They have patterns to follow with deep edges, really technical and super hard. I wish the US commentators explained the differences a little better. I learned by doing it!

The first thing EVERYONE should know, is that Sports on Ice or on Snow, THEY ARE ALL FUCKING HARD. These athletes didn’t spend their time making it look graceful for nothing.
The second thing, in sports on ice, it is about technical points, you have to also show the artistry, the emotions perhaps of the performance, it is not just about axels and spins and quad.

Yuri On Ice (Anime) Makes Figure Skating a Gay Sport for Men.
Wait but is it that ice dancers are not able to do jumps etc. or just that they're not allowed? So basically ice dancing is easier than ice skating?
1. Ice dance is a discipline within figure skating. 2. There are no jumps allowed and that means that ice dancers don't train jumps, because it's unnecessary and after some time they lose their jumps (if they had learned some earlier) cause it's only natural. 3. Imo it isn't easier nor more difficult, it's different. In ice dance you have maybe no jumps, but the lifts are still hard and difficult, you have to be always in unison with your partner which isn't easy.
Ice dancers are better skaters- with the kind of skating skills that allow them complete control of movement on the ice. Jumping is athletic in itself but there are great jumpers who are not great skaters in terms of speed, edge control, etc. And dancers actually have to dance traditional dances with required steps, like ballroom dancing on ice. So it’s not easier, just different.
After passing your basic levels you chose if you want to train in freestyle or dance. In freestyle you focus on jumps, spins, etc (lifts, twists and tosses if you choose to do pairs)
In ice dance you focus on skating skills, twizzles, step sequences and lifts.
Ice dancers are overall better skaters when it comes to edges and sequences because that’s what they rely on to rack up points, whereas freestyle (singles/pairs) is more jumps since the jumping passes are what rack up the points
USFS added solo ice dancing to the adult competition series yipeeee!!! It's super fun.
