Thank you for this wonderful spectacle this year. If my mom and dad were around to see this they'd be so thrilled. The spirit of weirdness and art lives on.
Isham Jones' best tune ever. Gus Kahn lyrics match it. Using "When I Grow too Old to Dream" as an intro is inspired. This performance is lightning in a bottle. Might consider a band vocal to use those wonderfully poignant lyrics.
Quaker City's theme for this year's Mummers' Parade was Monster Movie Mayhem. The costumes are different movie monsters. The fellow in front is the band's captain. every string band has a captain who does the mummers' strut and interacts with the crowd. Each band's captain has his/her own style.
Great stuff, as always, but was the idiot flashing the high power green laser in the faces of the band ever tracked down? Lucky the ground was dry otherwise the reflections could have been worse.
They march correctly, wear outrageous costumes, some of the instruments are totally unsuitable for a marching band and yet the music is perfect. Take note the dreadful American university bands.
I was a musician in the Air Force Band program and I love this instrumentation. Good musicians. July 2024.
Love this band. Brings so much joy! Greetings from the Netherlands ❤
