Justin Hayward has the classic extreme introvert behavior, glancing off to the side in order to think more clearly or deeply. May he remain with us a long time.

I love these interviews with Justin. Thank you so much. Like many other, I heard the Moodies in early 1970 and have loved them since because they were different. When they stepped away in mid 70s, other bands came and went, but i always had the Moodies in my heart. "Nights" pulled me into them and never let me go.
He is so humble. When I first saw on CZcams, and later bought the dvd, the Moodies performed in France back in 1968, and although Justin did most, if not all, the singing, he did not put out any other vibe other than he sang with the Moodies...nothing more, nothing less. He did not even announce any of the songs he wrote and was going to sing. He just came forward to sing and would step back from center focus while Mike talked and announced. He was so quiet. Here is this young man who wrote and sang great songs; yet, he never came across as the front man....far from it. He seemed very shy and quiet. I would have loved to have heard him speak.
Justin mentioned where the title of "Nights" came easy, but he has spent a lifetime trying to explain the song. Too funny. It took a few years for me to even realize that Nights wasn't a love song like George Harrison's "Something" of but a very sad love song of a young man whose heart was torn apart Until he had met his love, he was not quite alive, but then when he meets her, she was responsible for opening his eyes and seeing the beauty all around him due to loving this woman which he had never seen before. After she leaves him, she takes all that beauty he saw away, and he is not the person he once was. There are lovers all around him holding hands, laughing, and enjoying each other happily in love but cannot see that he is in agony with his heart broken. When he sings And I love you, oh how i love you with such emotion, it makes one feel like he has tears in his eyes. Later, when he is between the white, satin sheets with another, he still thinks of the lady who left and took his heart with her. Such a sad, sad song yet beautiful...beautiful in his haunting voice and the absolute breathtaking melody, especially in orchestra. When i hear that song come on, i stop what i am doing and listen to this man's haunting voice. No one can ever sing it like Justin does/did. I am so fortunate to experience such a band way before their time.

I was there at the last show. 20 year old. First concert. Research trip to Gettysburg, and on the last night I drove in to the lot, your wildest dreams came on the radio. Within half an hour I heard it live by the man himself, and within 12 hours I was back in New Mexico. It almost didn’t feel real…… something I could’ve only imagined in my wildest dreams. Thanks Justin, wherever you are. (I know he’s out there somewhere)

I see videos of Justin on CZcams, from the 60's and 70's, and to see him here, shows me how much time has gone by.

I’m really looking forward to the full interview. Big Moody fan. All the guys are so humble. They had/have a cult following starting from the beginning. Saw them in the 80’s with Wildest dream tour. Justin in great voice and the drummer was so impressive.

MY ALL TIME FAVORITE SINGER since a 15 yr old growing up in Louisville Ky...My dad had a beautiful singing voice as a young man I was told by older relatives...Born 1912..me 1952..he had an opportunity to leave "podunk town Indiana" in the late 30s or early 40s before marriage to mom to go to Chicago and sing on the radio
Shy humble man that he was...He turned down the offer! He later "turned to the bottle" sadly and died when I was only 22..(middle child) I credit him for my love for singing and praise for a really good voice! I dreamed about "being on stage..recording records " but too shy to pursue it! Even when friends over and singing Karaoke..I will reluctantly give in and sing "one"! Always a Justin song...get a lot of "wows" but like my dad..most likely...don't feel worthy of it or don't want to be seen as "showing off"! I've shyed away from drinking very much alchohol if at all..all my life! For fear of "becoming a weekend drunk" as he often was! Thank you for sharing all your excellent interviews here..with many "often overlooked" bands or singers..who play and sing...not for the money and fame..but for love of the music as "Troubadours" like him..I sound a lot like him LOL
SORRY FOR THE RAMBLE! PEACE OUT!
DELETE THIS IF INAPPROPRIATE ! NO PROBLEM HERE!

This chap certainty is the real deal, all his poetry is great and underrated, his melodies imprinted on our souls. He has a few planets in his 12th house, look it up 🎉

The Moodies i believe, are a very rare group of musicians that were brought together by Divine Intervention cause i would think even God listens to music

When it first came out, Long Distance Voyager was the first Moody Blues l ever owned. It remains my favorite to this very day. I’m sure I’m in the minority, but that’s “just(in)” 😉 how l feel. My two favorite songs begin side two of the vinyl: “Meanwhile,” & “ 22,000 Days.” Looking forward to more with the great Mr. Hayward.

I think that "Long Distance Voyager " is a totally underestimated album.
I am so disappointed when I hear people talk about the "Classic Seven". It is so dismissive of the other great songs that they've done.
Whether Justin performs his original music, or covers - such as "This is the Moment", "Bright Eyes", etc., they are all performed in a way that make them uniquely his...
