Agree with you. New generations should cover his songs. My favorite song of his, are: Running Water, I Dreamed Last Night, It's Up to You, Bless the Songs that Bring You Back, among others.
For better than 50 years, I've been listening to this man's music, whether on his own or as part of the Moodies. His songwriting is immaculate and his vocals propel the words. He makes you feel. That is artistry. One he didn't write, "Forever Autumn", remains a personal favorite. It stops me. "Haunted", "Question", "Who Are You Now", "The Actor", "It's Cold Outside of Your Heart", and dozens more; songs that say things to me every time I hear them. Good to hear new music from an old friend.
56?
I was never much of a Moody Blues fan, but I was at the R&R Hall of Fame induction ceremony and was blown away by how good they were. They have 20 years on the “headliners”, Bon Jovi and were so much better. The MB performance was the highlight of the show for me.
Thank you!
He's a legend, and such a gentleman.
Thanks for the interview. The Moody Blues are one of the most underrated bands of all time. So glad to see Justin is active, touring and still writing music. It took way too long for the Moody Blues induction into the Music Hall of Fame.
Great interview. Justin Hayward is a charming person, and a great musician whose joy in music and playing for people comes through in everything. Incredible to think that he's still writing and recording as he approaches his 76th birthday. Blessings, Justin!
I am the same age. I recall standing in front of Justin just below the stage at the Spectrum theater Philly about 1970 or so. Justin in laced up boots long hair staring out at the audience. Pinder just behind on keyboards, John on stage next to the others. I wondered how they got all that equipment over from England.
A roady nightmare,LOL! Sometimes sitting alone in the dark I wonder ,did all that really happen so many years ago?
@@timeriderx I envy you the experience, my friend.
I have always heard of the Moody Blues for most of my life. However, I have really grown to appreciate them as of late. 😊❤
Let Justin talk & don't interrupt, please.
Love you Justin!! ❤️
Justin Hayward is an inspiration to me as a songwriter and as a great guitarist. He is so talented and humble.
Wow! He’s a superstar. Him & the MB’s are incredible.
Justin relaxed & chatty! Doesn't get any better. Thanks Jeremy & Mitch!
So fabulous to hear Justin tell his story and the guys asking great questions. I saw his solo tour lately in London and as always he was on pointe and his show was brilliant! Forever Justin Hayward!
Thank you, hope you enjoyed! Please subscribe! 🤘🏻
I miss the days when the Moody Blues came to town. I saw them several times in Salt Lake City and Vegas. Justin is amazing. 💕
Such a talented, unassuming man. Beautiful voice and so, so talented. I love The Moody Blues - their music is amazing. I love the orchestra combining with their voices - they can truly sing. Harmonies and lyrics are so beautiful. True talent.
One of the best interviews with Justin that I have ever heard, & I have heard hundreds. The Moody Blues music, & their solos, expressed the inexpressible
Justin seems very happy these days.
Been a fan of Justin's since 1969, and have heard countless interviews. Finally, an interview with "deeper cuts." Thank you for a great, and refreshing interview!
I was so blessed to see Justin at Derngate Theatre in Northampton in March An amazing 80th birthday present from my daughter Great that Justin is as amazing as ever Long may he continue with his beautiful songs like Living for Love Bless him
Justin's solo show was the first concert I went to when the covid lockdown eased up. It was a lovely wonderful show and a great evening.
Been fortunate to witness Jeff Wayne's World Of The Worlds Live concert in Sydney with Justin Hayward. A trully magnificent singer & guitarist with such a phenomenal performance.
Fun interview. I’ve followed Justin almost his whole life and met him several times over the years plus went on 5 cruises (next one end of Jan.). God bless him and the Moodies.
He is an inspiration, a great songwriter and musician. Some of my songwriting was inspired by his work. Instruments do make your music.
Jeremy!! The Moody Blues! Now we’re talking sir!!! Absolutely deserved to be in the Rock Hall of Fame… sir Hayward seemed to enjoy talking to you professionals. Loved this and I’ve purchased the single on iTunes! Cheers - R
So overdue for the RRHOF. Finally!
As a long time fan of the Moody’s, and The Blue Jays, thank you for putting this interview up. I know the “superstars” get tired of interviews, and some just bag it, but you kept things Interesting with great questions and Justin seemed to enjoy the experience. Thanks again !
I really enjoyed this; smiled through the whole interview. (I'm still smiling, lol.) Justin's music is sublime, and Mitch and Jeremy knew their stuff and did a great job. Delightful, thanks!
Agree!!
Beautiful interview. Great, simple but very deep and insightful questions, and honest and just lovely answers from our favourite song writer.
Guys...you were great. All of you 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I really enjoyed this interview! Thanks for sharing it! The questions the gentlemen asked were knowledgable, and the answers the gracious gentleman gave...well, it's always a pleasure to hear Justin's voice, both singing and speaking!
Ive been in love with Justin since 1968.. *sigh*😊❤
Great Artist , a real Gentleman. Always some new insight into His Art , Solo and with the Moodies, shows in the interview!
Thx Justin!!! You Changed the World❤
Insightful and lovely listen, Mitch and Jeremy. Music is a community whether backstage, onstage, or in the seats. Brilliant to have three generations sharing both experiences and evolution. In the Justin generation but, like him, do love music regardless of genre. Pure truth that it's the soundtrack of our lives. (Yes, Foreigner and Iron Maiden belong in the RRHOF.)
Thank you for this lovely comment!! ❤
@@JeremyWhiteShow My pleasure, as is the intro to your brill channel. Subscribed. Cheers.
Beautiful and intelligent interview of a lovely gentleman and fabulous artist! My favorite of all times! Thank you for this interview. Liked and Subscribed.❤❤❤❤❤❤
I thought it was hilarious when the hosts were speaking of Justin’s new single, and inquired if he has an album coming. Justin tells them how that response often comes along with the release of a new song, people will say yea, that’s nice… “you got anything else?” Good thing Justin has a great sense of humor!
Living for Love is another Justin masterpiece; just the latest.
I’m sure, in time, he’ll have yet another album out.
A surprisingly good interview. These guys got the best out of Justin, he was engaged. So many times he's interviewed about the history and mythology of the Moodies, and its boring to hear the same answers repeated over 55 years, but these questions were different...........
That kid said he was 28 years old. 28 years ago in 1994, I was at the Peoria Illinois civic center watching the Moody blues concert
Wow, that was great, very insightful. Always loved Justin's sense of humor!
Always a joy to hear from Justin, lovely interview, thanks for posting.
Thank you, hope you enjoyed! Please subscribe! 🤘🏻
I know you are outhere somewhere...is my favorite Moody Blues song because is super uplifting happy and still have that Moody Blues vibe!!
IK YOTS. JUSTIN CALLS IT IKY OTS 🤣
My daughter bought my sister and I tickets to see Justin in a little theatre on a small coastal town in Western WA state. We had a blast. They served wine and everyone sang some of the favorites. Justin is a great songwriter and singer. It is wonderful to see him still going strong.
I’m
Justin’s acoustic playing is one if not the main reason I fell in love with the Moodies. Keep in mind I was only about 4 the first time I heard them. My brothers are significantly older than me. 9 & 12 years. They were playing DOFP. His voice got me first then Threshold his guitar & songs. I grew up with up with so many bands that were heavily acoustic. Don’t get me wrong. I love a good banger too. The Who is my favorite band but Pete’s acoustic work is outstanding. Tull is my second favorite band. So its no wonder I play acoustic guitar. I do have a sweet little Gretch though & adore playing it, without a pick. If Knopfler & Beck can do it why not me? Anyway, Justin has been a Huge influence in my guitar journey. And he’s a poet to boot.
I've been jamming to the band since 1965-6. Classic rock is Classic. Period. Awesome person. BLESSED by their music. Helped shape my life. MAY GOD BLESS YOU.🙏🗽🐎
Wow! Whenever I hear Justin's songs, visual images come to mind. Turns out, that was actually the intent.
Great songwriter singer guitarist from a great band
Fascinating interview with Justin. A real legend.
Anyone who can come up with nights in white satin is fascinating to listen to in my book.
Love this interview! Mitch & Jeremy, whom I've not watched before but just subscribed to, did a solid job both contributing discussion and guiding the interview, letting Justin speak freely and come across with all the warmth and honesty his songs have always possessed. And this, from one who's adolescent years were spent soaking in Tuesday Afternoon, Nights in White Satin, and my favorite of all Moody songs (with the single most perfectly succinct guitar solo of all time-imho), Ride My Seesaw! Too late for this question, but I'd have loved to know, from the final moments of this where he's discussing at what point a song is good enough to share, an idea of what, or how long, it takes for that confidence to share is there? Thanks!
Good to see and hear you Justin...I'm very early but Happy Birthday for 14th from a fellow Libra ⚖️ mine was 2nd (1955)...still loving your music and lyrics ❣️...take care 🤗
Great interview, thanks!🎵
Haven't lost your Wiltshire lilt!!😉❣️
Saw him here in Charlotte a few yrs ago. Quite simply one of the alltime greats of pop British Invasion R&R Psycholdelic & more. A genius
Very humble incredibly talented man
This is so cool. Looking really wonderful. Thanks for sharing 💖
Amazing artist and good man.
Great interview. Thanks.
Refreshing, relaxed and interesting interview. Enjoyed it. A long held hope has been for Justin to work with Mike Pinder in a kind of retro way.
From your mouth to Mike and Justin’s ears!
MIKE OFFERED MID 90'S TO DO A ONE OFF. I USED TO HANG WITH MIKE & TARA A LITTLE BIT BACK THEM. INCREDIBLE STORY TELLER.
Great interview Guys!
I am always amazed by the ability to write music and to notate that on a score sheet. Something I can't even begin to do.
Always fun to hear from Justin, thanks for the great music Justin. You helped me get through college back in the day.
Great interview! I've heard so many over the many decades, but this is one of the best. Well done, Mitch Lafon and Jeremy White.
Great interview
I love The Moody Blues
And Justin is making better songs now than ever. 🙌🙏
Super interview.
jUSTIN HAYWARD MY FAVORITE SINGER SINCE 1967. PERSONABLE, GRACIOUS, FUNNY
Happy Birthday, Justin! 😘😎🌺🎉
Happy birthday Justin!
Great stuff! Thanks! Happy holidays! 🌞🎅🏻🎉🎉🎉
I Adore Justin hes so adorable saw him live just before Leeds he was so good a wonderful show he was the best. He looks put on the spot there with that zoom interview across the pond but he handles it well and was very humorous and outspoken. 💕
So many wonderful songs from the Moody's, but I just discovered "King and Queen", and I wonder how it wasn't included on the Albumn.
Great interview guys.
Saw Justin on the UK tour this year and the last time he was here.
I am a massive Moody blues fan.
And just a note,
Justin signed my copy of his first LP Songwriter and was dedicated to me.
I have met him briefly years ago in the Moody blues Keys to the kingdom tour, so to get that signed was a big thrill.
Always awesome!!! 💚☮️🙏🏻🇺🇦
Justin is a genius, great memorable lead construction to complement songs (if you cannot whistle the solo it's not needed); great songs that are able to capture moods and resonate with listeners across generations. He is still vocally strong as ever and one of the greatest song writers to emerge from UK along with Ray Davies, John & Paul, Mick & Keith; and Pete Towhnshend, Gary Brooker/Keith Reid.
Good interview.
Justin Hayward, un gran cantautor, mi favorito desde que yo era niño.Gracias Justin por haberme regalado tu musica Dios te Bendiga.
Very good, keep it up!
I’ve loved the Moody Blues from their beginning.
You have lived a fortunate life w/ the Moodies traveling w/ you on your journey!
Just gave the new tune a couple of spins and I love it!
My friend Justin. 🎼🎶🎸
I loved his October 2021 concert at the Carnegie Music Hall in Homestead
Classy dude. Ever since Ride My Seesaw, the Moodies have been in heavy rotation in my r&r world.
The moody blues 💙
I remember so long ago hearing "nights in white satin" I fell in love!! Lol
I've been recording in the studio lately. I play electric guitar with 2 other guys and like Justin, I think what i played sounded like shit. But i get into the control room and listen to the playback, i think, wow! That was me!! And the mixer tells me "that was great!! You gave me lots of material to work with"
"Tiny Speakers"...."Tiny Island". Delightful interview - it means a lot as we are on the other side of the world. I concur with the Lady and you that Foreigner and Iron Maiden belong in the RRHOF. Thank you 😊. Tasmania, AUSTRALIA. 22:05 AEDT.
Now all three of you. I felt that conversation in my emotions.........
I' m a genuine old fellow, currently 61:years old but sang for others at 5 years old sat on my father's knee at Appleby Horse Fair in the north of England. My father an accomplished 'squeezbox' player. Being like father. A Romany gypsy, my life has been quite ' different' to that which most people may live. Father ( Corrie ) or Da to me was a larger than life character, bare Knuckle gypsy fighting man but also a loving. spiritual man too. I miss him. He passed in 2009. Anyway, I sang puppet on a string, made famous by Sandie Shaw. I will include this link for both Rebecca and Meghan as they may not be familiar with the song. Justin, no doubt you met Sandy back in the day?
Enjoy.......
When you have a person as Bright and Knowledgeable as Justin,
I t could be Perfection.
Justin, I know for a fact that you struggle with your perfectionism, both personally and professionally.
Keep exactly as you are.
Cary was told that by Audrey.
Haven't Changed a bit.
This was a delight.
Glad you "got it", sadly enough many online are abysmally dull.
Cheers.
❤
Still have that big crush on him 😂❤
Justin the great !! 😅😅
Me too and I’m straight!
Unless you write music, of course Justin is one of the best , I don't know if you can describe the process to anyone else that is not in the business. But I agree with Justin it usually starts with the musical instrument that you are most closely associated with. I just wish the words would come as easily as the music. But even then I may not get a whole piece instantly.
❤️
"Delivering the goods for 50 years?" Why minimize it? How about 55-56 years? The Moody Blues initially broke up almost 50 years ago! Great interview of an excellent musician! I buy whatever I can of Moodies and Justin.
Living in the land of Make Believe and You and Me
Good question: "have you changed the approach you take to writing?" Actually, all great questions!
When if ever will he tour with Lodge even if it is just one last Hoorah...I have now seen Moodies with Ray, without Ray, and Hayward solo show which does not disappoint, however, I do miss seeing that shiny red 335 with Lodge right there with his precision Fender or the double bass.
I’d pay serious money just to watch Pinder, Justin and Lodge get together and play.
JOHN IS TOURING WITH HIS OWN BAND
He needs to get with Lodge & Pinder
MIKE OFFERED A ONE OFF IN THE MID 90S
Very good, keep it up! We'd like to add your music on our music blog!
Yes, love the chatting and the smiles, but why didn't you play Justin's new song? 💃♥🎼🎶🎵🎸🥁♾⁉
Maybe copyright issues? I'm listening to it right now on YT.
Are they (Hall of Fame) developing a library to place inside the Pyramids lest things don't work out? Don't worry about Ray . . . it's about something I found on the internet.
Buddy Holly and Everly's...."Oh, to be inducted with The Moody Blues...!"😮
Jethro Tull
What about E.l.P. being not Rock Hall of Fame? Prog rock was not widely accept by early rockers and three minutes love ballad singers along with enthusiastic blues artists who were members in the Rock Hall Of Fame.
Justin was very patient with these guys. It seems that they were trying to impress his with things like Plato's "Allegory of the cave." Just genuflect, do the interview, and move on. The guy is beyond your skill set.
The interviewers talked a little too much here. If you have a guest like Justin Hayward, let him speak at length.
Much farther, in my opinion
