Every tennis player can hit the ball cross court and down the line but not many are accurate and consistent doing it.
Players usually use their wrist to change the racquet's angle in order to change the direction of the ball which leads to very inconsistent shots.
Much better solution is to use your body to align behind the ball and to adjust your contact point and swing naturally without any need to change the wrist position.
You can also disguise your intentions by pulling yourself at the last moment behind the ball and then using recovery steps to stay balanced. - Sport
Excellent stage exit by your nephew @ 1:15.
amazing footwork lesson at 1:14 :)

And at 1:56 it's still better... :D
Even better at 2:54

That is one lucky kid having a teacher like you!
1:40 random boy returned back
your nephew at 1:14 :)))
This is the best tutorial that I've seen regarding the topic. I also love how you provided different camera angles and different ways to tackle DTL - this really lets me study what I need to do. Can't wait to try this out next time I'm on the court.
Thank you very much!
Best tennis guru so far in CZcams
GREAT SIR THOMAS, I M A CRICKET PLAYER TOO, SAME IDEAS HERE APPLIES AS IN CRICKET BAT, ... BUT YOU SIPLY EXPLAINED IN A SIMPLE SIMPLE WAY... GREAT COACHING DEAR

Thanks for this very good video showing how to hit cross court and down the line. Before watching this video, I used to use my wrist to do so.

May I request a video of how to avoid tennis elbow? It will be very very helpful! Thank you!
Že nekaj časa gledam vaše videe in so v veliko pomoč :D
Že prej se mi je zdelo, da bi lahko ta lepa pokrajna bila v sloveniji, danes pa je to bilo potrjeno :)
Hvala in lep pozdrav
Awesome video! This will definitely help me a lot. But can you explain the backhand cross court? It will harder to do an open stance, so is it more of hitting early/front/closer, and doing the recovery step?
Thts amazing videos.. u r amazing teacher....
This was great thank you so much. I am an advacned player but I am trying to teach now so I was looking up some more basic stuff but this helps my game alot acually
You're a great coach! Subbed
Thank you, very good hints
thank you for your useful videos. could you please also make a video on differences between two one-handed backhand grips in terms of how the hand is spread across the handle (index knuckle and heel pad rest on the same (top) bevel of the racket handle or all knuckles are on that same bevel - which I saw you using). it would be interesting and helpful)
Thanks! What a nice court to play tennis in.
Thank you for this excellent lesson 🙏
as always great vid. thanks. could you do a lesson on taking the ball early?? cheers.
The speed of the incoming shot also affects the direction. The ball slows down considerably before it gets to you but the racquet face angle is going to have to be slightly more toward the middle on a hard hit ball on a faster court.
Thanks, great channel for tennis tips. What country is this, looks beautiful. Is that a club or your courts?
Thank you for the video.
This lesson very much useful to me, to teach my son 👍👍👍
thank you coach

Play tennis 🎾 with me 😂
Excellent.

thank you belive it or not this video helped
Awesome tips
Good physics.
excellent excellent.... thank you
I guess open stance and semi open stance would be better for down the line shots
you did a great Job ;)
thank..very helpfull
very very good tip , thank you
Oh wow! This makes sense.
Bravo majstore!
How to play in back hand cross court and down the lane ? Can we apply this technique in single hand backhand too ?
What works good for me going down the line from a cross court shot on the deuce side is doing a sort of a buggy whip up and it stays in down the side.

Hi Thomas do the same rules apply to one handed backhand ie closeness to the ball, swing speed, movement to the ball. Thanks
Great vide
great tip !
cross -> open , down -> closed.
Really helpful
Excellent !
Nice video, and your nephew is very funny
I saw some guy called Phil Hofmeyr (I think that's his name) demo a product called TopspinPro. Awesome product!
Sir i learned thia stroke from you thank you sir
thanks for the video.
what if i wanna hit down the line open stance?
So, in general, a line drawn from the back toe to the front toe will be the line the ball follows?
Ball : exist
10 year old me : 2:58
i wanna learn a 'inside-out forehand', please take a video about it
all u have to do is to hit the lower rt of the ball (4o'clock) for cross court or behind the ball (6o'clock) for down the line
Excellent
well done
Good video you are genius
good stuff about the incoming ball- angle , when it's possible tell us something
about taking a ball on the rise , or better wait and let the ball drop a little ? before hitting it back,
Theo Beulakker It depends on the ball and your skills. Taking the ball on the rise is extremely challenging and usually you are not accurate with that. A safer option is to go back and gain some time. But again, it depends on the situation so I suggest you experiment with both options and see which one works better at a certain moment.
Hi there, I'm just a little confused about something... on another video you said that your energy should be going into the ball, not where it is going, and to use your racket instead of your body to control where the it goes, but here it seems that you're using your body position to control where the ball goes. So what's the distinction?
My interpretation is that your energy is going into the ball, not where it is going, but your body position relative to the ball is controls where it goes...
Any videos on one Hand backhand down the line please?
Where are you from ?
I love the nephew, thanks coach
What country is Feel Tennis videos from?
And I wonder if they give person to person lessons?
He is from Slovenia.
3:00 Hey Red shirt handsome guy! Teach me how to do that
perfect michael jackson at 1:58
Thanks for this no bs guide bro
Excelente lección. Peo se equivocó al seleccionar a su sobrino como ayudante :)
Actually there's several more variables besides the angle - velocity of the ball and the power of the stroke.
that's why it's difficult to put the ball down the line.
best!
What do you see today?
A ball.... 😂
It was hilarious at 12:00.
What I think you mean is push the ball down the line direction
It is what your are think about, not physical!
Your are inventation: the ball direction is related to the racquet angle, not from the speed. The same is the distance of the ball from your body.
A good base of the feet will help, and the time do hit further or back is the secret.
Ok it's all clear but in another video of this channel it's said an opposite concept: it's the angle of the racket (and so of the wrist) that causes to hit cross court or down the line. Not to move into the ball (that seems to be useful to watch the ball during the execution): I understood this concept. Am I correct?

It's all together, Marco. You can direct the ball cross court for example by just hitting it more in front but it will be even more consistent if you align your body in that direction too. In most situations in tennis we cannot execute our strokes in an optimal way, instead we need to improvise and adjust. So when we get an easy ball, we try to align with the body and feet position but when we can't do that we'll try to direct the ball more just with our hands and racket angle.
Today I played following the suggestions in your videos.. and I played great!! Great job!
For a good demonstration the boy should throw the ball underhand
Hi
1:56 holy shit, wtf happens to her legs?!
Coach has accent. Coach is good
