Our American Daughter Finally Visits Our Philippines Home

- Almost two years ago, our family made our first trip to the Philippines, kicking off back to back trips across almost 30 islands and resulting in us leasing a long-term condo in Metro Manila earlier this year. The notable exception on all of these visits was our oldest daughter, Reagan, who stayed behind in the U.S. with her mom while the rest of us racked up adventures through Luzon, Cebu, Bohol, Baracay, Siargao, Palawan, Iloilo, Negros, and more. But we finally talked her - and her boyfriend, Mason - into flying across the Pacific to see why we love this country as much as we do.

FYI. The Philippines has its own version of Mango sticky rice. The rice is in a suman form wrapped in coconut leaves.

U r so right. Our mangoes in Guimaras are the sweetest so far in the whole workd. Even the Whitehouse loved it during President Reagan’s term.
Filipinos were brought to the Hawaiian Islands in the late 1800's to farm the sugar plantations. A quarter of hawaiian population are filipinos.

Thank you for visiting our beautiful CITY of ILOILO, the City of Love. Iloilo City is the most beautiful, cleanest city in the Philippines. It has plenty of well-maintained parks, plazas, the public Garden of Love, the Riverside and Creekside Esplanades. Plenty of well-curated Museums and Art Galleries. Plenty of nice international restaurantts and native Filipino eateries. Plenty of nice universities and colleges, exclusive high-end schools, too. Plenty of hi-tech hospitals and medical centers. Plenty of nice well-stocked airconditioned supermarkets and grocery stores in the neighborhoods. ILOILO is a nice family-oriented vacation place, and yes, the sweetest mangoes in the world are found in ILOILO CITY and its neighboring island of GUIMARAS.

Yes, Grab is the safest here in the PH... I am a local but I do not trust taxi (and most of the time I do get taxi with broken air-conditioner, taxi-microwave for you.
Locals and specially Foreigners just take Grab, a little more expensive but you'll be safer.

@@livethephilippinesfrom the airport, the yellow airport taxis are great too, but sometimes the line is too long.
Just avoid Grab Taxi. They're no different from regular taxi and some shady drive. A week ago a foreigner got mugged by a Grab Taxi driver. The problem with taxi is operators don't screen their drivers thoroughly.
@@axizcorp Grab is still a safer option in general. They're not perfect, but they have the info of the driver and vehicle, in case the driver did some stupid stuff.
@@livethephilippinesyes from now on use grab rather than taxis. It's more safe because they are being monitored too of their travels aside from all their driver's info are registered to the company who manages them èven if they are using their own car.

Phil, when I worked at the P.O. , my shift started at 4 AM, Fortunately I was only 3 miles from work, up at 3:15 AM , grab a quick bite, drive to work, punch
the clock, gather the postage due mail, certified, express, etc. go to my private room, 6' x 20' , go get some coffee then shut my door, turn on my radio and do
what I did. My mail had to be ready by 6 AM to be picked up for the carriers. Off work at 12:20 PM. It is actually pretty easy to get up early in the PI, 5 am is normal
so we can beat the sun getting too high for our morning walk with the dogs. If you are not done by 6 am, it is getting too hot to be out just walking around.
Looking forward to your sight seeing with your daughter and maybe future son-in-law. they look pretty tight. 😄

*_Tourists or foreigners usually get flabbergasted how hot it is when they arrive in Philippines for the first time, especially this year. Honestly, this has been the hottest summer in Philippines in my entire 40 years of existence here. This is the first time that the temperatures reach 52 degrees celsius in some areas of the Philippines... and we Filipinos hate the heat and can't bear the humidity as well._* 🤒
So crazy! We just got back from a week in Coron earlier today and boy was at a hot one… But we all had a great time nonetheless!

52 degrees is not the real temperature but climate alarmists use "heat index" which is their own invention and nobody knows how they derived it from. For all I know, the heat is the same or even cooler today than from years ago. Chill up people. Don't be too carried away by warming alarmists. 😊
