  • Located south of the city of Florence, just 1 km from the majestic cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, this 14th century house underwent a major renovation in the 1980s.
The atmosphere you breathe in this place is almost mystical, as if you were in a hermitage close to the consolidated urban fabric of the city of Florence.
The entrance is characterized by a multifunctional storage unit, which also acts as a parapet and handrail, giving a touch of modernity to the ancient structure. The choice to treat the ceilings with a resin and to use a natural lime-based plaster for the walls aims to create an abstract and simple domestic space, but at the same time rich in personality.
In the furnishings, the custom-designed oak dining table and the wooden armchairs in front of the fireplace help to emphasize the elementary character of the domestic space. The kitchen, coming from the previous home, was completely recovered and reused in this space by simply changing the worktop.
The service bathroom on the ground floor, with the travertine sink, continues the narrative of natural and sensual materials. The bedrooms, simple and welcoming, reflect the character of the house, completing the intimate and comfortable atmosphere that permeates the entire residence.
The furnishing elements provide solutions that are attentive to the characteristics of the individual spaces and respectful of an idea of living consistent with the place.
The large external openings have been maintained, enriched by metal iron windows which accentuate the visual relationship with the surrounding garden.
The choice of natural materials, such as stone, lime and wood, help to strengthen the sense of familiarity and tradition, making this space a welcoming refuge in the heart of the city.
