The modern residence is located in South Tyrol, on a steep slope surrounded by vineyards and has a breathtaking view of the city of Chiusa, the Sabiona monastery and the Isarco valley. Architect Felix Kasseroler, of Studio Raum3 Architekten, based the project on the topography of the place, considering the relationship between the mountain and the valley.
The house stands on land where there was already a pre-existing construction, which inspired the new project. The extension of the living environment towards the external area played a crucial role, especially for the main residence. It is in this dynamic that the second building, the annex, was conceived. These two distinct bodies, although connected by a single roof, integrate harmoniously into the landscape, following the topographical curves of the land.
The goal was to create a multigenerational home that was sustainable and self-sufficient. This was made possible by the use of heat pumps and photovoltaic panels.
The main entrance, an imposing portal in exposed concrete, leads to the semi-underground area, where there is a small apartment and the main entrance to the house.
The living area, accessible from the semi-basement level, is characterized by an open space developed around a central piece of furniture that separates the kitchen, the dining area and the living room. The mountain-focused kitchen features a natural stone island that promotes an open work environment. The dining area offers a panoramic view through large windows over the city, the monastery and the valley.
The back of the house houses more private rooms, including a study, a laundry room and a toilet. The attention to detail emerges in details such as the steel battens, which recall the old warehouse, also present in the staircase, in the dining table and in the facade cladding.
The attic floor houses the sleeping area with three bedrooms for children, the master bedroom and two bathrooms. The master bedroom opens onto an intimate terrace. The master bedroom bathroom combines microcement resin and oak wood, giving it a distinctive character.
The house reflects the architect's commitment to considering not only the external spaces, but also all the internal elements, with particular attention to details that give uniqueness to the project. The interview highlights the importance of creating tailor-made architecture that responds to the specific needs of the client, helping to define what "comfortable home" means for everyone.
