Those washers are called Nord-lock washers, they are heavily used in industrial fabrication, we use them on refinery equipment with high heat cycling and they hold up great.
If NOT landing on the wheels was a sport, Stempy would be the world champion 🏆

Definition: vehicle impacts ground really hard from a vertical drop on anything but it's wheels, most notably, the nose or tail.
Moral of the story is: don't give anything to Stempy because he doesn't understand that ESCs exist. XD

See, I'm torn: when I was a kid we were so poor that I was taught to respect my things so that part of me sees these videos and I cringe. But the other side of me sees the "let her rip" to destruction fun part of it.

Kind of a dick move, smashing it to bits. Plenty of people out there could never afford something like that.
NordLock washers are fantastic ! The pair of washers try to rotate against each other but their cam ramps separate the washers and apply additional tension to the fastener assenbly. This dramaticallre reduces the chance of loosening. Bin them after 2 or 3 removals.
Loctite will fail at engine temperatures....
Prime example on why i choose to RC as my hobby :-)

If you have the money to play why not? I do the same thing with my real offroad vehicles. They always come back on a trailer in pieces. If you're worried about breaking stuff all the time that's not truly fun. It's like the saying goes. "All men die, few ever really live!" Here in Brazil an rc like this usually costs the price of a car or motorcycle, a very expensive hobby... but I love it so much, I would like to have one :D

Stempy is not really a harsh driver for the car, some people drive them hard and fast, and do a big stunt that wears and tears the cars a lot. Stempy is just super bad at driving, keeps the throttle pinned, and land on the roof, zero control, just a shit show. Personally, I don't even find it entertaining. Other than that, love the videos Kev! Can't wait for the monster truck!
Yeah, I mean, even real short course trucks break things but there's a difference between breaking things racing and purposely doing things to wreck a car. I mean, if that "send it to the moon" is 50 feet in the air, that's like driving a real truck off the 10th floor of a parking garage.
WHich brings me to a dare to Kevin: double dog dare him to drive his real monster truck the same way.

God I love the way that thing sounded. It reminds me of my first dirt bike as a kid. I had a CR80. Then as I grew up my bikes got bigger. My last dirt bike was a Maico 490 and my last street bike was an old school Kawasaki K2. Triple cylinder 750CC two stroke baby!! I love two strokes.
I have a Losi T5 like you but I have converted mine to 12s. y1549 ZTW Beast Pro 300A 12S ESC with a TT56112/520 Top Tuning Beast Brushless Motor 520KV. Does 70 MPH. I just don't bash mine like you do. But going electric is so much better performance wise than gas.

At the end of the day the income from youtube will easily cover the damage. If Kevin's videos were all "watch me drive a car safely around in circles for ten minutes" his views would drop and his income would be less than he gets by filming himself breaking all his stuff.
Those lock washers you used on the exhaust are called nord lock washers.
They are about the best lockers you can use when dealing with vibration.
If you like them buy them and want to use them often buy the boxes, this is a whole lot cheaper!

The pinion is easily removed. You need a flywheel tool first of all, or a piston stopper which isnt recommended. On the bolt they use red locktite from the factory. Heat the thing up and comes right off.

If you want to lock gears together so you can undo a mounting bolt, and not cause damage, try wedging a rag between the gears.
