Crème Brûlée ft. Elon Musk Flamethrower
Vložit
- čas přidán 18. 05. 2021
- A crème brûlée is a dessert so decadent and rich that you can't have it too often. I felt that, given we just passed TWO million subscribers and it happens to be my birthday today, it's completely fair to indulge. Crème brûlée actually translates to 'burnt cream,' which is a decent--but not perfect--explanation as to what it is. A good crème brûlée consists of a creamy, smooth custard base spotted with vanilla beans, neatly topped with a sweet, hard crust of caramelized sugar.
Now, there are a few things we should discuss that are a bit out-of-the-box in this video. First, the fact that I'm sending one of you to a 3 Michelin Star dinner for two. I'm going to put all the fine print below, but in summary I'll be paying for a trip for two people to go experience the restaurant of their dreams. I want to hear your stories. Why you want to go. Who you'd bring. Where you would go. Anything else you think may be relevant...but please keep it short and sweet! I'm going to have the winner send a clip of their experience and share it in a video down the road.
Also, I think it's important to note here that we used an actual flamethrower to torch these. It's the Elon Musk 'Not a Flamethrower,' and I had to be safe and keep the flame to a minimum, but it was certainly a fun experience. This will officially be our go-to piece of equipment whenever we need to torch things from now on. It's a gift not really to myself, but to our channel as a whole. If you ever think of cool additions like this, please absolutely let me know in the comments below.
Crème Brûlée Ingredients:
5 egg yolks
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3 cups heavy cream
1/4 tsp salt
1.5 tsp vanilla bean paste (or extract)
Giveaway Terms + Conditions: Giveaway includes $1,500 to one winner selected by me, which is what we have deemed will cover travel and dinner for two. Winner will be announced on a CZcams video in May or June of 2021. Must be 18+ to win. No purchase necessary to enter to win. Entries that don't follow czcams.com/users/tcommunity_gu... will be disqualified.

My father is 48 now and had a heart operation almost 1 year ago, this made him realise that quality time with loved ones is one of the most important things to do in life! He is almost fully recovered now and really loves good food. Especialy if it is high quality. My father has always been amazing to us and everybody around him and i would really like for him to go and experience a 3 star michelin restaurant. We have one in the Netherlands called the liberije witch is suposed to be amazing. I am a student restaurant, hotel, and kitchen manager and so my interest also lay in this area. I remember the first time I tried crème brûlée. I was around 9 and I was scared that when I cracked the sugar on top it would cut me, but all in all, I tried it and it’s now my favorite thing. I first tried it on a cruise, and next week I’m going on that exact cruise! I’m so excited to have it every night in the dining room, and thanks for this amazing video, Nick!
Happy birthday nick I love your vids! You have inspired me to make as many recipes as possibles within my budget lol keep up the amazing content!
I would take my refugee student, Suna, to Quince in San Francisco. She immigrated from Iraq a few years ago and her stories are inspiring. Hi there,
I am new to the States, and ideally do not have much idea about the Michelin star restaurants here. Would be happy to go anywhere that you would send us. By us, i mean my husband and I. You see we have been in a long distance for around 5 years (includes 2 years after the wedding) and just 2 months ago we were re-united! He has been on his toes and doing a lot to keep me comfortable and trying to make up for lost time ever since i stepped here. Just fulfilling every whim and fancy i pronounce! But since I am not earning, i cant really think of a way of surprising him! I really wish to win this and get a chance to take my husband out on a date! ☺️
I would give the dinner to my middle school band teacher and her husband at Per Se in New York. I'm in high school now and wouldn't be who I am today without her guidance. I think she really deserves it!
Love this!

The restraunt i would go to is benu. I'm a aspiring chef and cooking is one of the things that have kept me grounded and happy even when I went through a depressive episode that I'm thankfully out of. Thank you for giving someone this chance and I might not be the most deserving of this but you wouldn't find someone else more excited for it
Happy Birthday Nick!!!
Love your channel! Former sommelier turned electrician. I MISS THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY but cooking your food for my construction buddies warms my heart.
My husband and I married 4 years ago but could not really afford a big ceremony or a honeymoon for that matter. He doesn't have a huge appreciation for culinary artistry but he loves my cooking. I would LOVE to take him to Atelier Crenn in San Francisco. Chef Dominique is an acquaintance through the wine industry and I have mad respect for her technique, presentation and storytelling. I want to take my man so he can understand the dazzling artistry of the culinary world.
THANK YOU!

My boyfriend and I are two medical students who are currently studying for our step 1 boards in mid June. Throughout this pandemic we’ve witnessed medical professionals compassionately and selflessly care for the sick, no matter who they are what they’ve done or where they’ve come from. Even though it’s been an extremely hard year, we’ve been so inspired and honored to be going into a profession to physically, mentally, and spiritually care for those who are sick. On the days when I wanted to give up, he was always there to lift me up even though he was going through the same thing too. It’s been a long road, but we’ve helped each other keep motivated to reach out dreams of becoming doctors. If chosen, I’d love to surprise him with a dinner at the French Laundry. We went to undergrad near the Napa Valley and always dreamed of going there someday. It would be such an awesome way to celebrate how far we’ve come and commemorate a huge milestone of passing boards together.

I would want to go to Eleven Madison Park with my brother. There are multiple reasons but a major one being their newly introduced vegan menu. Although now it is becoming more prevalent, it is quite rare to see true quality of cuisine with vegetarian/vegan food, and as a vegetarian, I want to be able to experience a top restaurant without being restricted by what I can or can't eat. Thus, I think it is monumental in the world of cooking and cuisine that Eleven Madison Park is broadening it's expertise to cater to people of all kinds. It would truly be the experience of a lifetime!

Helpful Tips :3
I just made creme brulee in my pastry class days ago and we used propane to torch the tops of it. If the sugar glaze on top is too dark like darker than golden brown or black you risk and lose the flavor of the caramelization because it ends up tasting very bitter if it's too dark like the big creme brulees you made. It's best to go a bit darker than golden brown but not black or dark brown to enjoy it properly. Also, for the small ones the best way is to hold it up with a propane torch and as you torch it you turn it around up high and let the sugar you torched drip down as you turn it and repeat to make it even and to avoid over torching it.
