How to activate sport mode on kia optima 2017 plug in hybrid base model, europe version ? It doesn't have a button for sport mode BUT I can slightly see the sport written next to eco in a sunny day. So I think it's deactivated on purpose for european market. Thoughts on this ?

Same. Reporting from Middle East. No such button as driving mode but just an “Eco” button on my steering wheel.
I own a 2016 Kia Optima I was driving it on ECO mod stoped at a red light and switch it to sport mode soon after Arriving home there was smoke coming out the hood would u know why

You do not have to use paddle shifters, my mom has the same car and I drive it all the time to go service it. It just give you the option to use them if you want to.

If you are switching modes and it feels like sport mode there could possibly be something wrong with your transmission not a mechanic just speaking from personal experience

I have a 2014 Kia optima lx and the only button it has on the steering wheel is ECO ,but I noticed it says “sport” on the dashboard…does my car actually have sport mode or is that just something that’s on the dashboard?

@@DIYPinto eco helps conserve fuel on those slow and steady drives when you are not pushing the engine. You wouldn't want to mash the gas pedal when eco is on.
I have a 2013 Kia Optima driving down the highway accidentally put it in sports mode off of the steering wheel and a gear 6 continue to drive it when back into the drive regular drive park the car went to leave then And it would not go into drive it goes into reverse and neutral and part but not drive

@@DIYPinto that mode is activated when you are driving and you open the throttle wide open, and after, if I remember correctly. 3 seconds, after being full throttle, you slide the shifter up into R. It’s a dual mode position. When stopped, it will reverse the vehicle, but while driving, and you want to engage race mode, it is available, without having to stop, to change the driving mode.
My car still shows eco sin even I drive over 80 miles per
