      This car has not been subject to any recalls since its creation in 2014.

      @bobroch1107 I grew up driving econoboxes. I was in a serious accident in a 1991 Ford Festiva. The shoulder part of the seat belt snapped. The only thing that kept me in the car was the lap belt. If I had been in a bigger car, I probably wouldn't have needed to be airlifted to the hospital. I don't do motorcycles or small cars regardless of how reliable they are because of my personal experience. They can be great, cheap, and reliable transportation but in an accident, your odds of survival are greatly diminished.

    Thanks for the review.
    I need to correct you in a few spots. The G4 is about $1,000 more than the hatchback, so the cheapest would be a hatchback, ES.
    The LE is not "pretty much the top spec" model. In fact, it's close to the base model. The only difference is the LE has fog lights, and bigger tires.
    The SE is the top spec. It has lane keep assist, heated seats, leather seats, leather steering wheel, and overall looks nicer inside.
    With a light foot, I have drove my Mitsubishi Mirage 10,000 miles. I filled it up 41 times. And in those 10,000 miles I have averaged 49.9 MPG through all the tanks. That is every type of driving you can think of. City, traffic jams, freeway, country roads. Everything.
    On the freeway I cruise at 55, to 60 MPH, and average about 55 MPG doing so. I drive this car about 80 miles per day on the freeway on average.
    Also, I need to add, I have daily drove a lot of cars. 2004 Cadillac Deville, 2008 Toyota Prius, 1999 and 2003 Ford F150, 2004 and 2005 Nissan Frontier, 2004 Pontiac Montana, and a 2005 Hyundai Sonata. Plus a lot of newer cars as well, like the Hyundai Santa Cruse, Ford Maverick, Nissan Versa, Kia Rio, Kia Soul, Kia Forte, and out of all of them, I kept going back to the Mirage. It is just this little, fun to drive, fuel saving go cart. It's perfect for me. It puts a smile on my face every day.

    • @extralock1045
      @extralock1045 Před 6 měsíci +3

      I should add, at elevation, the car indeed struggles. I was on Onyx Summit, going slightly up hill ~4% grade, and was at 8,300 feet above sea level. It took 17 seconds to go from 30, to 55 MPH. It wasn't happy. But the MPG up there also went way up. I still can recommend it though. But with 4 people on board, I am not sure if it will keep up.

    Bottom line, it's a city car. It serves that purpose exceptionally well. The soft suspension soaks up rough city pavement. Its small size allows you to park it anywhere. The turning radius is very tight and allows for U-turns on pretty much any street. The short length makes parallel parking a breeze. It has grown really expensive for what you get though. I bought a new Mirage ES (top spec) in 2014. It cost me $12k and it was totally worth that price at the time. At $20k, no way. To put it into perspective, you can get a base 2024 Chevy Trax for just $1,500 more. It won't have all of the goodies and it won't be as efficient, but it's significantly larger, faster, and safer for not much more money.

    Not the whole story, great warranty 10years 100000 mile powertrain. Four star safety.
    There is always pros and cons.
    73 HP is not very much, but the CVT will do the best to transfer the power to the wheels.
    Cost per mile is going to be very affordable , but not exciting I’ll give you that.
    VW Beatles and small economy diesel cars are all very slow, so the driver has to step up and plan how to safely merge with the rest of the traffic.
    It’s a tough debate, brand new with warranty or second hand fingers crossed!

      @paultruesdale7680 Před 2 měsíci +2

      I agree, but sometimes when you are on a budget that won’t budge it’s a tough decision.
      I have heard that Hyundai and Kia have been disputing the warranty claims on vehicles close to the warranty maximums.
      The motor in the Mirage is almost bulletproof, but it suffers from piston slap and that’s where the rattling comes from.

      I got a 2024, Mitsubishi Mirage ES. I put about 80 miles of freeway driving on it per day. I often go on 300-500 mile road trips in my free time. And it handles well. Though I am a slow driver. On the freeway I set cruise control to 55, or 60 MPH. The fastest I ever took this car was 75 MPH.
      To be fair, 75 MPH is the fastest I drove any car. Even in the V8 I sometimes drive, never went over 75.
      Either way, got the Mirage September 27th, 2023, and it has 10,000 miles now. Best car I ever drove in my opinion. It's like a mini-minivan. And a street legal go-cart.
      Over every fill up I ever done, I've averaged 49.9 MPG. That includes city, freeway, mountain driving.. Well.. Everything. But I regularly get about 55 MPG on the freeway cruising at 55, to 57 MPH. Rarely go 60. Only go 60 if it feels unsafe to go slower.
