- Kevin Durant (The Brooklyn Nets) talks about The Milwaukee Bucks Eastern Conference Semifinals playoff strategy to let him score as much as he wants and have his teammates beat them.

Milwaukee's idea of thinking KD can't beat them by himself wasn't bad, the problem was that the Nets already won 2 games before game 5. He didn't have to win a 7 game series by himself, he only had to win 2 games, which he was very capable of doing.
Edit: Because so many people are crying saying 'but he didn't', yes, all I was saying is that he came very close, and they were one little miscalculation away from losing.
Stop being babies
Х х
Factsss
I think the basic idea was that guarding KD is almot pointless since he can't be contained, so they focused on stopping the rest.
Yeah but he didnt win 2 tho so the strategy did work 😆
But he didn’t 🤷🏿♂️
As a Bucks fan, this series took eight years off my life. Can't imagine what it would have been if we lost
Trust me, as a Nets fan I still have nightmares about KD's shoe on the line and how they (probably) would have went all the way if he was slightly further back
I always thank KD's toes in my prayers amen
@@shawnrowan5900 I bet KD has a reoccurring nightmare where no matter how far he steps back his toes keep extending passed the damn line 😭

Would’ve been like every year before that one 🤣 1st or second round exits
It’s awesome to hear someone like Kevin Durant say they doubted their own ability because of injury. Of course we know that the doubt had to be there but to hear him admit it is beyond real
ya, it seems surreal that a guy like that would fear something like that but those injuries are no joke
beyond real, huh?
Felt the exact same.
KD is such a regular dude. That's why all the moments of him being sensitive, and immature make me root for him more in a weird way...
He's just a guy who loves to hoop, and hears the noise. Dude is so passionate and cares about how he's perceived. Totally relatable and fine in my books. We have enough unflappable superstar athletes.
this is what i like about JJ's podcast. He wouldnt have been nearly comfortable of talking about his abilities if it would be on like a mainstream media interview
"You Know Who I Am, I'm Kevin Durant" best line ever! Stay healthy my dude.
This is the exact same thing the Detroit Pistons did during their finals appearance versus the lakers, they left shaq alone, but did different coverages on Kobe, not sure why more teams don't employ this type of strategy
i mean, Ben Wallace was a great defender, so putting him on Shaq helped. he still averaged nearly 27PPG tho. Kobe nearly 23. BUT, no other laker averaged 7 or more. can't win with only two guys scoring.
@@rickyiglesias5384 very true, I think during that time you had more teams playing that style of ball , so you didn't see other guys like Fisher or fox or George having a bunch of points because Kobe and Shaq were carrying them for three or four years.
KD didn't even have a Shaq to be left alone. If he did, Bucks would've been going home.
@@DReppin2009 well he's not shaq but harden being hurt, hurt them too
@@williefaulker it's some crazy parallels cuz this was also the strat that gsw used against harden and the rockets.. just shows that it doesn't really matter how good a player is they are bound to gas out if there's no one there to help them.
And KD's god-mode almost took the Nets past the Bucks by a matter of inches, literally
Ok Skip Bayless. He also had overtime
“Almost” 😂
@@prophetmocmoud Sure mate. Ever heard of something called fatigue? The guy was literally playing solo against the Bucks. Not to mention he was coming off of an achilles tear. Bucks got lucky by an inch or two.

His worst game of the series was 20-17 on a hyperextended knee.
Not to mention it went 6 games, with a gentleman’s sweep. You do you though.
It’s still crazy how KD almost beat the eventual champs by his self. I was a big Nets and KD hater but I couldn’t be after that game 7. Now that Harden is gone I hope they win it all this year

I would say this, if KD was to get passed the Bucks, there would be a pretty high chance for KD to get injured again in the playoffs. It takes so much for one person (even for Lebron James in ‘07 & ‘18) to carry a team through the playoffs.

The physicality kd was alluding too is one reason why its so difficult to compare players from different eras.

I know people knew this fact early on but for me that game 5 was the time i saw KD emerging as the best basketball player in the world, been thinkin abt it before but sort of was fighting myself and i was conflicted a lil bit, but after that game, boy i surrendered.
Good to see him chilled and having fun. Sometimes he can be a bit abrasive in these things but he was having fun. Good to see.

KD usually gets abrasive when the interviewer wants to go into a certain narrative. In 2019 the 76s almost won the series against the Raptors. Not to mention Klay's and KD's injuries in the finals... I don't listen to anyone discrediting the Raptors championship though. It seems like Giannis and the Bucks have caused serious mental breakdown to some of you people... As the GOAT once said: Stop it! Get some help!
Come fly with me
You didn’t hear anyone discredit the Raptors championship?
What were you living under a rock in 2019? People were discrediting them significantly more than the Bucks now. You couldn’t even mention Toronto without someone mentioning how it was a fake ring, how the healthy Warriors would have swept them, how they just got lucky in Game 7 against Philly, and the next year without Kawhi absolutely nobody was giving them a chance in the playoffs despite them being the second or third best record in the league and still having 90% of their championship core intact. Even when they were a game away from the conference finals and the Bucks were already eliminated people still weren’t giving them a chance.
This year most of the league has collectively agreed Giannis is a beast and the Bucks are at minimum a top 3 most likely team to win the championship. Yes people were putting asterisks on their title right after it happened but most of that went away by the time the season got under way. The Raptors had to deal with that slander and people not giving them credit more so and for a longer period of time than the Bucks have.
Man a lot of people can discredit that Raptors championship but they just accept it because injuries happen and they hate the warriors KD era. No one (even Raps fans) can say that the raptors were the best team in the NBA in 2019 that's for sure.

Kd loves the game so much, he wants to be challenged. What we’re they thinking!
Watching this really makes u wonder , if they had just rested him game 6 maybe things go different. Obviously such things never happen in a playoff but may have been the difference maker
That's what I am saying! Respect to KD for wanting to stay on the floor, but Nash has to put on his big boy pants and make him sit. Nets fans keep saying "if we were healthy.." Man, you had the Slim Reaper, a few healthy former all-stars (Griffin and Jordan), and some decent role players who did well during the regular season when the big were either injured or just not interested in playing. You just need KD to have something left at the end of the game.
I love my Bucks, but they are not perfect. Coaching could have been the difference.
True but they had the chance to close it in game 6 so you'd never rest him there
@@Chigz10 I know ,it's like an eternal debate of coulda shoulda. You could say you're making a logical decision to sit him and then have a full tank for a game 7 at home or u try to close them out in a game 6 but then they played him like 40+ minutes and that really did gas him out completely. There's a world where they don't win even if he is rested and then they chew them out for that . It really was that close and historic a series

Gotta respect the Kobe hype. Nowadays there are some talk shows (*coughs, the odd couple) that try to make jabs at the "inefficiency" or any negative aspect of Kobe's game whenever he's brought up as one of the greats. Seemingly forgetting how relentless and skilled the man was. To this day, I haven't seen a player with better footwork or complete finishing ability as Kobe. I've seen the guy get multiple defenders in the air after faking shot attempts, spin around when the defenders are still up and complete a turnaround layup, dunk or jump shot. It was crazy. JJ is right. You can't guard him successfully. KD is this era of tough to guard player.
At the highest level, it really do be a game of inches
I wanna see bucks vs nets ECF. Hopefully nets healthy
No joke tho the bucks letting KD go was a good idea because they had enough to overcome it locking down everything else knowing Middleton n GA n jrue would be fine although it woulda been different story if KD coulda of sunk that last 3 if he didn’t have his foot on the line but point being you can let him go off tire himself out and weather the storm cause one man can’t beat a great team but man if Kyrie n Kd stay healthy this playoffs is gonna be wild
But they didn't lock the other Nets up. Harris was missing wide open shots.
It wasn’t a good plan because they were definitely struggling
Exactly.I didnt want to to say it because I said it before.Didnt want to beat a dead horse but if Harris shot the ball the way he had all year they win that by 8 or 10 points.Nash didnt do a good job coaching.Harden shouldnt have played he was injured and not contributing. They had Mike James on the bench who is a baller. He should have got Hardens minutes.Mike James insnt even on the team this year.Nothing against Patty Mills but I like Mike James better.I dont get Nashs rotations either Seth Curry and Goran Dragic are big factors and have to get minutes if the Nets are going to advance(in my humble opinion)

What the hell r u talking about dude! Read what i said and stop writing bull cause i cant understand stupid!
I didn’t view Kobe as that type of scorer . But makes sense
If 49 is pretty close to God mode, what is 50 in a game 6 close out?
The Bucks realized if they shut out the role players they could win the series... The games the Nets won even without Kyrie (1,2 & 5) role players had 50 or more points combined..The games the Bucks won KD still put up 40pts and Harden put up 25 but it took away from the role players who only averaged around 35 pts in their losses. They baited them into playing iso and 2 man basketball and it paid off in the end.
I honestly think Tuckers toughness changed everything for the bucks. We had been pretty soft through the playoffs and not a very physical team. We were getting finessed a lot. Tucker brought that tough mentality and it showed why it’s important in the playoffs. We played with an edge last year.
