Friday Night Funkin' is a Newgrounds rhythm game made in HaxeFlixel originally created for Ludum Dare 47. Programmed by ninjamuffin99 with a soundtrack produced by Kawai Sprite and artwork created by PhantomArcade and evilsk8r, the game can be played on Newgrounds or played/downloaded for free on Itch.io.
The plot of the game centers around Boyfriend trying to hook up with Girlfriend, but her ex-rockstar father Daddy Dearest doesn't approve of him. It's up to Boyfriend to rap battle his way through him and anyone else that stands in his way so that he can finally get freaky! Think you got what it takes?
Friday Night Funkin' is an ongoing project that will continue to receive updates, bug fixes and new content. A full version of the game is currently in development, having been successfully funded via a Kickstarter campaign. Check the changelog here for information on the latest updates. I LOVE the fact that Rodent Rap not only faked you out for a normal sonic mod, but also your average psyche engine mod as well with the menu! Turning into an actual pc is great!

The voice for “Sonic” was done by LandyRS, the voice of Sonic for Adrenaline Dubs! Those guys do dubs of the IDW comics, they’re very cool!
Also, though the gig is now up, this mod was disguised VERY thoroughly as RodentRap, a solo but vague “VS Sonic” mod. Even going through the files shows everything being entirely normal! A huge round of applause for the devs.
Additionally, if you use Botplay, “Sonic” will have unique dialogue and the song ends before the switchup!
The fake name also foreshadows X's appearance. Hence the name "RodenTRAP"
I also imagined the same for my Sonic.exe mod (if it was real).

i love how far they went with the fakeout in the beginning, everything from the fake menu, the absolutely amazing sonic va, to even how vague the gamejolt page was, not leaving any hints or details to the true song hiding inside

No offense to other sonic.exe mods but this is now my favorite. It actually deceives you to thinking it's normal, and the art style is fantastic. When the exe part comes they use the official remake version of Sonic.exe and i love it.
Sonic having a voice in this mod is a unique concept.

Something I haven't seen anyone mention yet is that the mod gives you the most subtle possible hint of what it actually is when you first start it: Sonic is holding a *red* microphone.
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but as far as I'm aware, vs. Sonic.EXE was the only mod where the opponent went out of their way to turn the mic a red color.
RodentRap wears its heart on its sleeve and you just do not catch it at first, it's so clever!
He wasn't the only one. He was merely the first, Black in V4 of VS. Impostor is using one in his sprites
Thought I'd clarify more on the red microphone, it's actually a microphone Sonic has in the Game Gear version of Sonic 1's ending sprites, which is a fairly obscure minor detail so I can see why it would look like a hint to what the mod really is.

Easily the best reaction to this mod i've ever seen. I love how this mod executed everything and although i was spoiled on it i still got a MAJOR shock due to how well the twist was done.
The only sad part is that there's not gonna be anything like this anytime soon or ever. REALLY glad you went into it 100% blind.

2011 Sonic refers to "the original", and the one featured in the official sonic.exe game remake. It wasn't made by up by JackGore, his is just a retake. 2011X's name is X, and is an official remake meant to replace JCTheHyena's original creepypasta as canon.
Lord X is a future version of X, but he's not its official canon continuation, just an allternative canon.
Y’know what would be awesome? Since .VS Sonic .EXE devs are working on this, all the cut V2.5 and V3 songs could be remade and put into V1 of this mod. It’s just so obvious, the encores (Too Slow and Endless) would get touched up on, and then Triple Trouble, and YCR would just be put in. And the people who made the original songs would remake them and put them in the mod.

About the mod Free 4 Me is actually referred to as Obituary(Revealed when the timer is set to show the name) and actually ends before 2011X drops the act when botplay is enabled with a different comment

One of the many things I love about this mod is that if you look in the foreground at 7:29 you'll be able to see a skull that looks VERY similar to Tails' head which is a nice detail since Tails is the first to die in the actual game

something about this iteration of Exe feels so much better and just more CORRECT than the Vs .EXE version of him. This one got us comfortable with his presence. even masking it even more if you use botplay. He completely left fielded the majority of people who used this. No obnoxious jump scares. No random transformation. Just a jackass with a urge to cause murder and max charisma stats

If we put Sonic/Exe (I don't know if Xenophanes is at all involved, correct me if I'm wrong) in the perspective of real life (which fits the whole meta aspect of the game). Sure it sounds like he's singing to bf but nah bro is singing to us. I was originally gonna avoid this mod because it's a modern exe mod, but then I saw Hit Single and then thought, "Maybe Sonic mods are evolving or something the worst this one can be is mid" And I'm glad I saw this one

According to what some people said in the replies "Roden" is the Germanic for "Red Valley" with the name being RodenTrap (with the T being capitallized) it can literally be interpretated as "Red Valley Trap" amazing how a simple name like this can have multiple meanings.
My only ask, is to bring back some of the original mod’s cast for one more brawl. Lord X I feel is obvious, since his maker is on the team, but I really want just one last song from Tails Doll, Majin Sonic, Fleetway and Fatal Error. I don’t mind if the rest have to be shelved, but just gimme this, and I’m a happy soul.
