- Mustafa Yowell, a third-year civil engineering student at UT Austin, hails from Dallas, Texas, with roots in Sherman and Nablus, Palestine. He advocates for divestment from Israel and companies profiting from war but clarifies he does not support Hamas or anti-Semitism. Why don't students protest against the war between Ukraine and Russia if they are against war?
because its Russia who is seen as the aggressor in that war and so it is up to Russian students to protest for it to end or for Ukrainian students.
whereas the Israeli aggressors are completely dependent on the USA and its western allies and so it is up to the western public to stand up against it or be complicit in the gen o cide.

It’s not easy being a bridge between two cultures…there is an emotional toll and grief when others don’t acknowledge or ignore a big part of who you are because it makes them uncomfortable or they deem you as “one of the good ones”.
