You're blaming the players? In a league that tries their absolute hardest to stamp out any even faint glimmer of personality within its players and that historically punishes speaking ones mind or so much as dressing semi formal to the fuckin game you blame the PLAYERS for being bland? The boring, robotic, "keep quiet for the cameras" culture of this fuckin sport forces its players to act like they do. These guys have LOTS of personality, but unless you're their friend or teammate you won't be seeing it, league doesn't like it.
This is the only way to find out what the players really think and say. Toronto leads the league in word hockey salad with toe-pick Marner gone full whiney and his teammates mumbling half answers but they seem almost human when mic'd up.
Even though it might be a long ways from now, wouldn't it be amazing if the NHL and ESPN produced an uncensored mic'd up series for each team? Like having an on-demand option for every single team's behind-the-scenes moments. Imagine how much money they would make 😭
Oilers on demand has it for 20$ a month I paid for 1 month, watched them all and then canceled my package, by far the best part of content besides games.

The NHL needs to take action against players who intentionally harm or endanger others on the ice. The NHL should hold such players accountable for their actions. A true player would never intentionally try to hurt or injure another player, whether it be through checking from behind, checking to the head, or punching an unsuspecting player. These actions are unacceptable and pose a serious threat to player safety.
It's hilarious to watch a guy throw a punch with absolutely 0 effect, then start crying "he hit me", and chirp back with "yeah, real tough". Like dude just lost 3 times in a row and thought he was up on it
